(the inspiration was actually granted right before we killed the second dog, but I can see how we've been talking for more than 10 minutes too, so I'll assume it's gone)
"You gotta stop doin' that to my friends," she says lowly, swinging Due Process at the witch. (If the hammer connects, it lights up with the holy smiting glow of the Duin's power.)
Attack: 20 Damage: 16(13 bludgeoning + 3 radiant, and extra 7 if the witch happens to be a fiend or an undead too)
The witch is clearly taken aback by the fact that this feisty dwarf seems to be immune to her fear, and she's even more taken aback when Due Process slams into her pallid body with a sickening soft thunk and a brief blinding flash of holy light. The creature lets out a vicious howl as it tries her best to recover from the brutal injury dealt by Chrys and her deity.
From her vantage point a few feet back, Vesper lets loose with her spell and watches her three arcane missiles slam into the witch with another brief explosion of light and power. The witch cackles once again with a pitiful, horrid shriek.
Just as Vesper finishes casting her spell, she feels a surge of arcane energy run through her body. She suddenly has the sense that her own magical time has somehow been sped up, and that she has the temporary ability to cast spells even more quickly than usual. (For the next minute, any spell she knows that has a casting time of one action will now be able to cast with a bonus action instead.)
Mother was right, I never should have left... I never should have left the Dale. The world is so dangerous as it is, and I've already almost died because of... because of gnolls! UGH, she's looking at me...! Don't look, don't look don't DoN'T LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK!
As quickly as she found herself huddled in the fetal position on the ground, in hysterical, fearful tears and wailing like a frightened child... a soothing balm suddenly came over Kess from Lumen's power, one that calmed the tempest of fear and raging emotions. Enough so that she came to as she heard the shrieking sounds of that screeching gash of a voice that came from Braida's face as Vesper's missiles pelted her flesh in a punishing arcane assault. All at once, she began to collect herself from the ground, ignoring the mud upon her dress and wiping her tears in bewildered confusion before quickly remembering what had happened to her..
And with that clarity came burning anger; despite their blue hue, Kess' eyes seemed to burn like blazing stars between the dirt and loose strands of hair upon her slightly tear-stricken face. Her lips curling into a snarl, Kess would rise and charge at Braida, clearly not amused at having her mind messed with in such a violating and embarrasing way.
"That was a dirty trick, you wretched conniving hag...!"
And with that, Kess would tear into Braida in fury, a combination of rage and embarrassment apparent from her angered scream as she charged:
First attack: 13, Damage: 9
Off-hand attack: 23, Damage: 10
((DM, would you believe I totally forgot I had Two weapon fighting and haven't been correctly adding my modifier to the second attack? LOL))
(Haha... there’s more than enough to forget in this game! And as always, another awesome post from you!! 👍)
As Kess charges back in with blades swinging and renewed vigor, she tears onto this haggish witch in a brutal assault of anger and steel. She’s surprised at first by how quickly the witch barely dodges her first attacks, but Kess quickly compensates and delivers a deep, bloody gash to Braida’s left arm, which brings another dreadful shriek from the creature.
Lumen, buoyed by the swift reaction Kess had to his spell, he turns to the witch. He begins to sing out in a bright melody, with a major chord accompaniment on his lute. Something even cheerful and inspiring and even a bit tacky. It's the opposite of the awful sounds coming from the witch, and designed to drive her crazy.
Action: cast dissonant whispers for 8 psychic damage on a failed WIS 14 save.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
WIS Save: 6
The effect of Lumen's ultra happy arcane melody seem to ring with terrible pain in the witch thing's ears. She shakes her head violently back and forth and her already twisted face contorts into an expression of hellish agony. With a deafening screech, she immediately turns and flees towards the lake.
(Both Chrys and Kess can take opportunity attacks if they wish.)
When she reaches the edge of the water, she turns around and lets out another horrifying scream, this one even more terrible, than the last. It's one of the most sickening sounds you've ever heard. It would make most commoners flee for their lives, but you are all strong and are able to stand your ground with great fortitude.
As her voice reaches its highest peak, though, you suddenly see a flash of movement on the ground in front of you, and you watch with horror as a clump of mud and grass quickly expands, growing in size with alarming speed until it's roughly the same size and shape as Chrys. In fact, it seems to be a grotesquely shaped mirror image of her, except made with slime covered mud and rotting plant matter.
This unworldly, freakish mud figure lashes out at Chrys with one of its muddy stumps, bashing at her with the amount of force that she would use to hit someone. It has no weapons, but the magical muddy limbs are threatening enough. Fortunately, Chrys is able to parry the attack with her shield, but just barely as she bashes away the muddy limbs.
Attack: 11 Damage: 5
(Let's resolve the two AOOs before moving on, so Chrys and Kess can roll their attacks.)
As the witch flees, Chrys narrows her eyes. "Oh no ya don't,"she says, gripping the handle of Due Process tightly and putting her back into the swing. It connects solidly against the witch, sending her tripping forward perhaps faster than she intended to. And once again, the head of the hammer lights up with holy light, as Chrys feels the power of the Duin flowing through her.
Attack: 26 Damage: 20 (14 bludgeoning + 6 radiant, and extra 4 radiant if a fiend or undead)
She stares at the mirror of herself in horror. "I'm definitely gonna bathe more often!"she promises as she bashes the attack away.
Due Process lands solidly on the witches back with an utterly devastating blow and a blinding explosion of radiant light as she desperately tries to flee for the lake. Kess also manages to nick her leg with an awkward slice as she races by, and gets the feeling that if she'd had a better grip on her scimitar, she might have been able to cut the witch down for good.
Nonetheless, the bloodied and battered witch reaches the bank next to her tree, and after she lets loose with that ear piercing scream, she turns and flops forwards towards the water and slips beneath the surface.
A few moments later, the odd "Chrys figure" collapses and falls back to the ground as nothing more than loose piles of mud and grass.
Chrys drops Due Process and races to the waters edge, wading right in. "This wasn't what I meant by bathin!" Taking a deep breath, she pushes herself underwater, javelin in hand, and throws it after the witch's retreating figure.
Lumen casts sleep at a point 20 feet out from the place the witch entered the water. "It's the last of my magical reserves, but this might work! If it does, she'll go to sleep until she's hurt or someone tries to wake her up. Maybe we can get her back in view to finish her off. We don't want to let her infest the forest anymore."
He will also gather up his rope and look around for some longer sticks that might be good to use to help search around in the water (I'm assuming it's not clear water?).
Lumen casts his spell spell and waits a few moments. However, he cannot see below the surface of the water at this distance, and thus cannot see if his spell actually hit or affect the witch.
Stomping the last 15 feet towards the bank and splashing into the lake with complete disregard for any show of grace, Chrys looks for the fleeing witch in the murky waters, but she doesn't see her.
(Chrys got hers fighting the dogs on this side of the lake.)

Vespers turn.
Vesper will release three magic missiles at the witch creature, thinking that it's best for her to die as soon as possible. 9
