Kess, with her elven ears serving her well, IMMEDIATELY bounds out of bed , reaching for her scimitars and throwing them on, as well as her bow and quiver; she must have looked quite the image in a nightgown with weapons on and her cerulean hair tied into a ponytail with some twine, but she didn't care.
"Wake up, wake up!" Kess shouted with concern in her tone, moving first to rouse Chrys from her slumber, then Vesper, Lumen and finally Krackle. "Something's amiss... find your weapons and head for the stable!"
And with that, Kess would head out of the room and make her way through the halls, keeping a sharp eye and ear out for anything that would be exceptionally out of place, listening for sounds and the like.
Lumen's a light sleeper, and he learned not to get stabbed while sleeping in alleys and haylofts by rarely taking off his armor, so he is up right behind Kess, pulling on his longsword and rushing out the door. He inspires Kess (you get a d6 added to an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw once for the next ten minutes).
Krackle would slowly open his eyes as his small kobold body rolls back and forth while being awakened by Kess. "What is going on?..." he would ask as he rubs his eyes. After a couple moments the sound of scared animals would cause his eyes to widen. Krackle would then quickly fling open the chest nearby and pull out his dirk before rushing out the door behind his companions.
Chrys, being the heavy sleeper that she is, wakes up blearily and looks annoyed. "The hell is goin' on?" she grumbles, pulling on her things and following after the others, while still rubbing the sleep from her eyes. Since she didn't have time to have Krackle fix her hair this day, it's almost as scary as the expression on her face from having her sleep interrupted.
Quickly grabbing your belongings, at least the kind that might be needed in an emergency, you rush out of your common sleeping room and dash out of the inn amidst the cacophony of people screaming, yelling, and running around outside in the blackness of night in a terrified frenzy. A number of people are holding torches, and as you look over towards the stables, you instantly see what's causing all the clamor.
In the flickering orange shadows of the torchlight, you see two giant humanoid creatures, easily one and a half times the size of a man, with long powerful bodies and limbs, and fearsomely sharp claws that extend from huge hands, recklessly trying to bash and break their way into the stables. With their mottled green skin, long clumped strands of hair and wickedly sharp teeth, it would be obvious to anyone who's been raised in The North to recognize what these things are. If there was any question, you hear the word "trolls" being screamed by numerous frightened villages who are standing back at a very safe distance. You can hear the desperate noises of terror that the horses are making inside.
As of right now, you also see three people in splint mail armor, each brandishing a pair of swords, one long and one short, rushing in to combat the two giant creatures. They appear very much like the two men that were talking with Madame Zoar inside the inn earlier, in fact, you would guess that they're probably the same men, and they're being joined by a half-elf female who is also clad in similar garb.
That's when you notice Madame Zoar. She's one of the people who are standing off to the side holding a torch. She's wearing a long, dark colored robe and shouting commands to the three fighters, and when she sees you out there as well, she nods and waves you forward.

Lumen initiative: 24
Spoilered action for when things get going, unless it's going now:
The half-orc darts forward, longsword in hand, keeping the three in splint mail between himself and the trolls, angling himself a bit to the side so that when Lumen looks behind the trolls, he doesn't see the stable. The trolls need a path to flee, don't they? His eyes focus clearly on the troll closest to the fighters, and he lets out a hoarse, hushed, but falsetto war cry. A stream of bluish energy emits from his mouth, resonating in tandem with the falsetto note, and arcing directly toward the troll's head. (He casts dissonant whispers on the troll for 7 psychic damage, half on a WIS 14 save. Also on a fail, it spends its reaction to move as far as it can away from Lumen.)
He also inspires Vesper, who seems to be having a bad night already.

"Trolls! In the stable!"
Kess quickly draws up her bow, looking to take advantage of the distance between where party was pouring out of the inn, and the sounds of the terrifying green behemoths.
(Kessdarra's Initiative: 9 )
((DM, what would Kess know about trolls in general, aside from them existing?))

Chrys runs forward, still blinking blearily, but feeling her blood surge with the familiar sounds of battle. "Somebody's gonna pay for interruptin' my beauty sleep!"she yells hoarsely.

initiative 7 Krackle troll knowledge 13
Krackle would stop in his tracks as he saw the huge trolls moving around the stables. "They... are so big..." He would say as his small shaking hand moves to put a rock into his sling before letting it sail towards the troll..
Quick as a flash, Lumen rushes forward, but still keeps a safe distance between himself and the trolls as he lets loose his eerie magical war cry. The face of the first troll twists into a terrifying expression of agony, and it immediately retreats a distance of 30 feet, paddling backwards on its huge bare feet.
The small victory is short lived, though, as the creature shakes off the pain and charges right back into the fray. With ferocious intensity, the horrid creature unleashes with a flurry of attacks on the half elf guard, rending and tearing at her with both of its fearsome claws and gnashing at her with razor sharp teeth. Blood flows from her wounds as she reels from the attacks, but the half elf holds her ground. Meanwhile, the second troll, seemingly unfazed by the melee keeps up its attempt to bust its way into the stable, where much larger meet potential awaits.
It is now Kess's turn.
Kess
Having been raised in brutal expanses of The North, Kess is well versed in troll lore. She knows that they are utterly fearsome creatures that can quickly rip most prey apart with their wickedly sharp claws and teeth, and that they have a very keen sense of smell. In addition, she knows that trolls are known to shake off most damage with impressive fortitude, to the point where their wounds close with an unnatural quickness, and that the only way to truly kill a troll is with fire or acid.
(Er... I know I rolled low, but not low enough to not be in the initative order ;-) )
Seeing the others attacking would wake Chrys out of her half-stupor, and she'd pray to the Duin to help end this interruption quickly, bestowing his blessings upon Krackle, Kess, and herself, before moving in.

"Fire! Use fire! Trolls fear flame because it keeps them from healing their wounds! Just be careful not to hit the stable!"
Kess runs over to a nearby torch, tips an arrow into it for a moment to light it aflame, and lets loose a flaming arrow towards the troll attempting to bust into the stable.
Kess lets an arrow fly: 11
Damage, if it hits: 6
((DM, do you want me to roll anything for use of the fire, or no?))
Ok, DM geekery alert. 😂 I’ve done some research and given this a lot of thought, and while lighting an arrow on fire sounds like a great idea in theory, it doesn’t really work. A regular arrow lit on fire would just go out as soon as you shoot it. You could use an action to prepare an arrow to hold fire, but the extra material at the tip would compromise the arrow’s range & aerodynamic properties. And even then, it would still be pretty ineffective in combat, it’s more for lighting something on fire from a distance
So, here’s what I’ll say: Action to prepare the arrow and disadvantage for the shot next round, and to be fair, if you do want to try this against a creature, it would be an additional 1 hp fire damage if it hits. For fire damage, your options are spells, torches, burning oil and alchemist’s fire.
For Kess’s action, her (regular) arrow streaks towards the troll and just misses hitting its target, instead sticking in the wall of the stables, right next to the creature’s shoulder. The troll seems not to be bothered by the arrow, and it continues recklessly battering at the wood of the stable, apparently driven by the whinnying screams of the horses.
(Kess, if you want to modify you attack based on the above info, feel free to edit.)
Watching their half elf companion being bloodied by the first troll, the two armed men rush forward with urgency. Grabbing torches from two of the villagers, unleash a volley of attacks on the beast, cutting chunks from its rubbery flesh with their long swords and bashing at it with the torches in their off hands. Reeling from her wounds, the half elf stands her ground and strikes back at the troll with her own two blades in an aggressive, yet confident offensive.
With Krackle's very limited experience with the world, he knows virtually nothing about trolls, except for the fact that they're the stuff of nightmares and scary children's stories. In his mind, they're nothing more than large, terrifying monsters to be avoided, at all costs, and now that he has laid eyes upon two of them up close, he can see why. They certainly look as if they could rip him limb from limb and open up his belly with next to no effort.
Taking careful aim, the little kobold lets loose the stone from his sling. Aiming at the troll that's trying to break into the stables, he releases the missile and watches it slam into the back of the troll's head with a dull thwack. It doesn't seem to be fazed much by the assault, though, as it has its mind on the horses.
Shaking off her grogginess, Chrys rushes up beside her companions. With a quick prayer to Duin, she bestows divine blessing upon both Krackle and Kess, as well as upon herself (Bless)

Lumen calls out to the troll fighting the warriors ahead of him.
"Well that is quite the tall troll,
Armspan and strength one must extoll,
But nothing excuses
Halitosis abuses
So poke gently with very long pole!"
(He casts vicious mockery on the troll for 2 psychic damage and disadvantage on the next attack with a failed WIS 14 save.)
He also readies his longsword to use in melee, looking to try to loop around behind the troll to flank for next turn, if he can.
