Ignatia, you dash away and at the same time hand the fire starting materials to Shae. (I've moved your token on the map for the 60 feet of movement.)
Renny, this time your bolt of fire hits the plant-monster, smashing into it violently. (8 damage) However, the three of you notice that the fire bolt kind of just absorbed into the monster. Kind of like Flynt did. The moistness of this beast coupled with its strong dermal tissue seems to give it resistance to fire! Since Renny is an Elemental Fire Adept, her fire attacks nullify the resistance, however. The party now knows this. It might change your plans to burn the thing. Or not!
Shae sees Ignatia retreating as well as Renny's fire bolt shoot, and ignores Ignatia's offerings now that everyone realizes that this thing is resistant to fire. "No! It won't work! We will give Flynt a proper ceremony if we survive this!" She shoots another arrow and then also begins to retreat. Attack: 10 Damage: 4 and the arrow misses and goes wide.
The plant-monster makes a few more burping noises as it looks now like it's starting to digest Flynt. It starts to follow you all... although it doesn't get nearly as far as you though.
Ignatia > Renny > Shae are up! If you all decide to keep making retreating dash movements, that will disengage you all from combat after this round and get you back to the first level of the dungeon. Actually, if you are 100% going to retreat, we will pick it back up once the party makes it back upstairs to the attic. Because this isn't over yet..... Let me know!
Ignatia looked at Shae, " If fire doesn't work we're down to your sticks, my stones and Rennys.....well, her fire seems to work....I just figured if it has to crawl through fire to get to us it might slow it enough for us to drop the house on top of it if we can get the fire to take hold here in the basement...lots of wooden support structures down here.....course we'd need to get out quick smart."
Ignatia decided to set alight to the straw and door frames in the cells with her oil flask and tinder regardless, just in case...
Ignatia, you use your materials and some straw from the prison and start the fires in each of the cells. Despite being damp down here, the fire starts to go quite quickly, and the entire prison starts ablaze.
Shae also joins Ignatia in the retreat, pulling back to the main chamber.
Renny is up! Will you retreat as well? If so, you all will end up back up in the attic.
Renny is going with them but noticing the thing is slower she takes a moment after Ignatia lights a fire to raise her hand toward it, causing the fire to spread into the path behind them (Control Flames).
"It's slower than us.. and... I'm really good with fire.. for reasons."

Renny, you cast your control flames spell, and the evergrowing fire that Ignatia started now spreads even faster and follows the three of you making an impressive fiery path in its wake.
The plant monster continues its march towards the prison, and this thing is not the most intelligent piece of plant goo on the planet, and so walks directly into the fire chasing you all. It takes 23 oozing 20 feet through the burning prison. (damage is halved as creature is resistance to fire. Renny didn't cast/originate the spell so Elemental Adept not applicable) 11 damage total the beast gurgles a bit as his plant body starts to somewhat steam.
You hear its faint gurgling noises fade away as you get further and further away from the beast, and eventually back up to the first floor of the dungeon. Combat is over. The plant beast returns to its disgusting cave in the water to lick its wounds/burns. You make your way back through the first floor, and are now back at the start of the dungeon looking up at the 50ft spiral staircase that heads back up to the attic of the house. You can smell smoke, so the combination of Ignatia's fire and Renny's control flames must really be doing some damage to the supporting beams down in the dungeon.... 18
Are you going back up to the attic to eventually exit the house, or is there any other business down in the dungeon that you have in mind? Again, the smoke is getting quite noticeable from the fires below.

Ignatia, Renny and Shae slowly make their way back up through the 50ft spiral staircase, the smell of smoke fading with each step that you take.
You all quietly think a thought or two of your fallen comrade, the dragonborn who was Flynt, and then you all reach the top of the staircase and back into the attic.....
But the house is DIFFERENT. Several architectural changes have occurred:
- All windows are now bricked up and impervious to any attack or spell.
- All of the doors in the house are gone and have been replaced by slashing scythe blades. In order to get through any doorway unscathed, you will either have to roll an Acrobatics check or an Intelligence check (to time the blades). You can decide which check you roll for each doorway.
- Every room that contains a fireplace, oven or stove is filled with poisonous black smoke. You will need to make a Constitution save to avoid taking poison damage.
- All of the interior walls are now rotten and brittle. You can make an Athletics check if you every want to try and smash through one.
(You have not appeased the cult, and so the murder mansion is now trying to attack you as you try to escape)
So you all end up in the attic, in that old storage room which is now filled with the thick poisonous black smoke (there's a fireplace in the room)
Everyone please make a CON save for the poison, and then let me know what you want to do after that.

Ignatia, you're able to avoid taking any real damage from the poison.
As for the door - is that an intelligence or acrobatics roll? Either way you crushed it. You easily avoid the first set of chopping scythes, and make your way to the stairs.
Shae's CON save for the poison: 22 -> and she also does not seem to be bothered by the poison smoke at this time. She will then use her athleticism and try and dive through the door with the swinging blades: 17 -> she must've tripped or something because one of the scythes catches her as she dives through..... 9 and it cuts her BADDDDD.
Shae, according to my records, you are at 1 hit point. You make it through the blades... although you are bleeding very badly. You stumble over to Ignatia who is waiting at the stairs.
Renny - over to you. You will need to make a CON save for the poison, as well as an Intelligence or Acrobatics roll to avoid the blades in the door.

(YAY! I didn't kill a PC!) -> Shae surprisingly is able to stay nimble on her feet despite bleeding everywhere and she also makes it through. Shae is also out of the house!
RENNY - it's all up to you. Please make your last Intelligence or Acrobatics check (your choice) to get through the final door of blades. Just so you know, the DC is 10, and if the blades hit you, the damage is 2d10. Feel free to make the damage roll if the blades hit you.
Ignatia, Renny and Shae all stand outside of the Murder Mansion. It is still night time, you don't really have any idea what time, but must be sometime in the middle of the night as it's still pitch black out. You can smell the faint aroma of a fire from the dungeon below. The cult was not appeased, however you managed to escape the house so that is a plus! Ignatia, you still have the girl child's bones as well (Rose).
You have all advanced to level 3. Please update your character sheets accordingly. Woohoo!
SO I just need some time to buy the CoS campaign and get familiar with it and then I will continue the story. With content sharing it'll be nice. I am aiming to do all of this by tomorrow at some point so stay tuned. I think we could just continue to use this thread and our OOC chat thread as well. I will rename it later on.

There no fireplace in the hallway we're currently in but I'm assuming the doors aren't there any more so they won't stop the spread of smoke....
Yep no doors...they’ve been replaced with the swinging blades.
the fireplaces are not lit, only bellowing black poison smoke.
Renny, the poison does not affect you, and you’re able to jump through the blades without harm.
So all of you are in the main hallway in the attic. The door leading to the staircase does NOT have blades.
Actually, as you begin your decent down through the house you find there’s only one more door with swinging blades.
So this is it... the last roll. Everyone please either make an intelligence check to time the blades or an acrobatics check to jump through.
