Dwal fires two pairs of glowing darts at the massive beast, and a firebolt at the hillside. The missiles sear a gruesome blackened wound on the beast's side.
Oceanus steps forward and jabs at the giant lizard menacing him with his trident: Trident Attack: 20. Piercing damage: 8
Bjorn swoops in and attempts to sting the huge beast with his stinger: Stinger attack: 15. Piercing damage: 6
Both connect. (DC 11 Constitution saving throw or become poisoned: 5)
But Peri finishes it off with a spear clear through the massive beast's skull. (BTW: no necrotic or bonus on crit: 7+2+8 not 7+2+12+6, not that it matters.) The immense lizard collapses onto it side, dead. Then leaping between Dwal and Oceanus, Peri unleashes a flurry of blows on the giant lizard to the north, injuring it with his first kick, before retreating to the west.
Kei may act next. (He's about 25' southwest of the injured lizard, and about the same distance west of the two blinded lizards.)
(One quick item before Kei's turn: Gerrard takes an additional7 of acid damage from the stomach of the massive beast. However, now that it is dead he is no longer restrained by it. On his next turn he may escape from the body of the lizard using 10 feet of movement, exiting prone.)
"Impressive, Topknot." He compliments Peri on his display of martial arts. "Remind me never to take you on in a fair fight"
Turning his attention to the injured lizard he begins a chant to an unseen god casting Toll the Dead. "Back to the muck you go you overgrown skink".A great ringing sounds as the spell takes effect.
Squirting out the side of the dead lizard, Gerrard rolls to his feet and sputters a bit, looking for the nearest threatening lizard. Ignoring the sleeping ones, he steps in front of the two blinded ones and yells out to the lizardfolk in Draconic, "Call off your lizards--we came to talk!" Taking a deep breath, he shakes off the digestive juices of the slaughtered lizard and hopes to somehow salvage this negotiation.

The lizardfolk seem to be egging on the lizards, the Draconic equivalent of "Git 'em! Sic 'em!" Then they start making odd hissing noises, and it takes a moment for you to realize that they are laughing quite hard at Gerrard, as he emerges from the belly of their giant lizard, dripping with foul liquids. Hearing Gerrard's plea, they respond with "Lay down your weapons!"
Gerrard is a mess – his clothing is half-dissolved, his hair is curled, and he smells sharply of gastric juices.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dwal
Dwal will use his battleaxe and strike at the one who attacked him, yelling in Draconic: "Back short scales before I skin ye and make ye a pair of boots."
The two wounded, blinded lizards continue to thrash about wildly, snapping erratically at anything they hear or imagine. Two sleeping lizards slumber behind them. 50+ feet behind them, at the rear of the muddy cavern, stands three shouting, laughing(?), gesturing lizardfolk, waving javelins. They hold spiked shields and wield heavy clubs as well.
Peri may act next (and Kei too, should he be told to.)
Omitting the part about the Lizardfolk laughing about his state of attire, Gerrard replies to Kei, “They want us to drop our weapons, and I told them to call off their attack first. If they keep attacking, we will have to kill them.”

Peri misses seeing Kei cast his cantrip but does hear his compliment, so when the lizard keels over he assumes it died of internal injuries from his kick. Two killed in one pass -- these things are pretty weak watchdogs. Dunno why Gerrard let himself get swallowed like that... He pauses a moment, watching the slime-dripping nobleman (this time an actual physical description, not an insult) have some sort of argument with the lizardmen. But Dwal and Oceanus are still fighting the blinded lizards so he dives back in. He charges the one Dwal and Bjorn are engaged with, spear leveled like a lance at the beast's neck. (24 for 10 piercing) Then he uses the momentum of his charge to launch a flying kick at its head (or the other one's, if the first died). 8 for 6
((A 1 and a 2 on an Advantage roll??? I think I'll reroll that 1 using Halfling Luck: 16))
Peri races forward and skewers the first lizard – killing it – then dives between Dwal and Oceanus to level a solid (and lucky) kick to the skull. The second one remains up.
The thrashing, wounded lizard snaps blindly back at Peri -10. Piercing damage: 6
It catches only air. The lizardfolk call out a command and the remaining lizard stops its attack and begins to retreat back into the muddy cave.
Yelling to the Lizardfolk in Draconic, Gerrard tells his friends, “Sheathe your weapons, they have called off the attack for now. We should attempt to parley now, but be wary.”
Draconic:
“We came to negotiate, not surrender. We will put away our weapons.”
Gerrard wipes off his blades on the nearest dead lizard hide and sheathes them, standing and looking steadily at the Lizardfolk, resisting the urge to straighten his ruined clothes.

Feeling pretty cocky from his success against the lizards -- big, attack-trained lizards, capable of swallowing a man whole! as he'll describe them to Captain Sal later -- he swaggers up to stand beside the nobleman dripping pungent lizard juice. He thrusts his spear point-down into the sandy dirt and crosses his arms, looking as intimidating as his small stature will allow. He also transfers his hex from the deceased lizard to whichever of the lizardmen seems to be giving the orders, weakening its resolve (disadvantage on Charisma checks).
((His display of ferocity is intended to help Gerrard in his negotiations.))

Gerrard:
Nodding at Peri's strong support, Gerrard takes the Lizardfolk shield off his back and steps forward a few paces, setting it on the ground, propped up so the lizardmen can see it. He then backs off to his place beside Peri and speaks loudly in draconic, gesturing to the shield. To those who don't understand the language, he translates, "It may be obvious, but they are pretty hostile. Still, they indicated willingness to hear my message." He then translates verbatim what he said to the lizardmen and shrugs, saying, "I don't understand their culture very well, but I hope this works."
Persuasion with Peri's Help:14
Draconic (and feel free to read as Gerrard translates verbatim for the party):
"We had an unfortunate misunderstanding in Saltmarsh, and we are here to stop it from becoming a war. We have enough enemies without counting you among them. We would speak with your leader."

"Looks like you have this in hand, for now"he says to Gerrard. Letting his spell fade from its readied state, he takes his place next to the noble and the halfling. He does keep a hand on his whip, just incase things don't go as planned. "If this does go sideways, I have a nice little surprise planned for them. Just give me the nod" his distrust of the overgrown lizards evident. "I don't like that one of them ran back into their gloomy hole."

Kei
"Dwal. Gerrard. What are they saying? Do we slay the last of their guard dogs?" He shouts at his two draconic speaking friends.

Dwal
Again Dwal will take a swing with his battle-ax.
Hit: 16
Damage: 2
(Dwal appears to be totally useless in melee :P)
The remaining giant lizard's hide is too tough for Dwal's swing, as it tries to retreat into the mucky cave.
One of the three lizardmen runs disappears into the gloom of the southeast part of the cavern.
Any sign of humor now gone, the remaining pair continue to shout threateningly, in Draconic:
Leave, drop your weapons, or prepare to die. If you have a message, speak it.
