"Oh, hold up! What's this?"Wary of any hidden blades, Peri will use his crowbar to hook the box and drag it out from under the bed. Once it's out he'll carefully check it (Investigation1) and if there's no sign of traps he'll try the lid.
((Oh, there's definitely no traps on this box -- he'll guarantee it!))
((Hey don't forget you're a halfling. And you still have an inspiration die))
Kei
He jumps at Peri's outburst, fingers nearly on the tassles of the rug. He pauses and looks at what the halfling has found. Hopefully it is more easily transported than a rug.
Seeing the fumbling fingers of the usually astute halfling he speaks up "you need a hand with that one?"A wry smile breaks across his face.
With a cursory examination, Peri finds no obvious traps on the small chest. He opens it. It is full to the brim with coins - 1,200 silver and 3,000 copper. There's also a square of silk in which are wrapped three gems - a beautiful blue jewel of obvious value, and a pair of matching blue stones.
The halfling's eyes bugged out at the pile of coins. The ingots in his pack were probably more valuable overall, but there's just something special about a pile of coins. He looks at the jewels to see if there's anything magical about them, then reports the results to Dwal, who he figures has at least a chance of guessing their purpose.
As he prepares to shovel the coins into his pack, it occurs to him this might be an opportunity to test their new companion's integrity. "Hey, Kei, my pack's already heavy. You want to tote this pile of coin?"
Dwal will take a look at the papers Peri has found and translate them. Upon seeing the big haul Peri has found, Dwal's eyes go wide: "Now that is a nice bit of coin ye found there furfoot."
Dwal thinks a moment "I never thought I'd be a tomb raider," he says thoughtfully.
Stowing the coin for now, Gerrard and Peri carefully throw open the next door to the the north. This one is mostly empty, with a thin layer of rubbish and debris.
With Peri's offer, Kei's eyes open wide. The sheer volume of coins causes him to stumble with his words. "Sh..sure. I can take...take care of that for you". He snatches the chest away, probably too quickly, before Peri changes his mind. He reaches inside his robe and pulls out an empty sack. Emptying the contents of the chest into the newly presented bag his eyes flicker as light bounces off all the coins.
When finished he follows the others to the next set of doors. His mind running through all the things he could spend his new fortune on.
Gerrard finds nothing of interest. Dwal, meanwhile examines the papers he was given. It's crazy and full of gibberish, with a lot of magical arcana. Arcana: 7
He can't make a whole lot out of it. A lot about raising dead things in various ways. The names Arundil, Khundrukar and Durgeddin come up a lot. The author had a lot of time on their hands, and was clearly somewhat mad.
They open the next door.
More smashed furniture and debris from the final battle, more Orc graffiti, and more skeletal, inanimate remains of dwarves and orcs.
Gerrard moves into the room and stabs the corpses with his glowing blade, ensuring they are all properly dead. Assuming the others are done in this room, he moves over to the next door on the north wall and prepares to open it after checking it briefly for obvious traps.

With the last few rooms being fairly uninteresting, Peri's caution has slipped a bit. He reaches for the next door to the south before catching himself and turning to stand by the door Gerrard is readying to open. Patience, boyo. Stay focused on the task at hand. He runs through a quick breathing exercise and focuses on the door to the north.
The next door is jammed shut. The door is made of iron plates - not stone, like the others. But a lock was long ago removed with blunt force. Roll a strength check to try to open it.
Peri will offer his crowbar to whoever wants to try to force the door (he's not much of a brute force guy). Hopefully this help will give that person some advantage in prying the door open. He will resume his ready stance with his spear.
As they are about to move on, Peri spots a small wooden chest beneath the bed.

Do the corpses appear to have been the result of a battle between the 2 races of something else?
Investigation: 19
Both sides definitely died violent deaths from conventional weapons, presumably at each others' hands.

More of the same. Debris, vandalism, dust. No bodies in this one. Nothing else appears to be of interest.

Seeing no other volunteers, Gerrard sheathes his weapons and accepts the crowbar from Peru, saying, “I’ll see what I can do.”
