CHA Save (Advantage because halflings are so very brave): 20
Peri flinches from the otherworldly voice, but stands his ground. "Yes sir, I heard you the first time. But as I said, we just need to tend to our wounded and we'll BE gone." He is relieved when the others react to the man's presence; at least it's not a vision just for him. He nods his thanks to Dwal for the healing touch, feeling much restored. "I'd have said somethin' earlier, but there were others in worse shape and I thought we were on our way home. Now this?" He stands beside his friends to face the new potential threat.
"Many more will come. You are powerless against them," shouts the old man, emotionlessly. "These weak maggots fall, but the next may not. You cannot resist them all. Not without Xolor."
"That's better. Now we are getting somewhere. Do you speak for Xolor?" asks Gerrard, attempting to resist joking about multiple waves of weak maggots and how they are more likely to roll a bit instead of falling since they are, you know, maggots (that's some diplomat training there, folks).

Completely ignoring the fact old man, Kei speaks to Peri. "Never underestimate the value of your own hide little man. When the chips are truly down, there may be no-one else you can rely on". His past profession coming once more to the surface. His was a life of kill or be killed, lie or be lied to.
"Now" turning to the old crackpot "what are you on about? Maggots of Colour? Speak plainly, if you can"
The strange old man seems to look past you or through you, rather than at you.
"Xolor speaks through me. Consider your fate, mortals. Remember that you must die. We all must die. We must prepare ourselves. You must consider your options. Xolor can protect you."
You see that the debris in his beard appears to be seaweed.
Looking at this man, Gerrard finally notices some details. "Guys, I think the man before us may already be dead--drowned in fact--and this Xolor is using his corpse to communicate with us."

The man does not appear to be drowned, although he does look like he could have recently been immersed in the sea. His flesh seems pink and healthy (albeit a bit saggy with age and weight) however the cold doesn't seem to bother him. And while the booming, arcanely-powerful voice in the strange language that came out of him a moment ago did not appear to originate from this being, the rest of his conversation, while weird and somewhat disconnected, appears to be emanating from this human in a normal way.
Looking over to Kei, Gerrard says, “Master Kei, have you ever heard about this Xolor? He seems to be speaking through this man, but I assume this is not his true form.”

Peri:
The world goes dark around them, but Peri's Eldritch Sight allows him to see the crazed old man. "We've been nothing but respectful. Now we're done with you, old man." He fires an eldritch blast (19 for 5 damage) at the "prophet."

Kei
Before he can answer Gerrard everything goes black. "Well, this brings back memories"he says with a snort, referencing the time he was taken by an angry merchant that wasn't happy with the goods Kei had procured for him. Three days with a sack over his head had taught him not to panic when sight was taken from him.
"Xolor? You mean the magnificent Xolor? Xolor who rules with a steady hand. Yes, I know if Xolor. He has sent us to...." Peri's blast electrifies the air around them. Kei turns to the direction he imagines the halfling to be "I don't think that was a good idea Twinklefoot." Then louder to the group "I'd brace yourselves".

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(P.S. "[Tooltip Not Found]" should read "blinded.")
(Dwal's initiative roll: Dwal: 21)
Gerrard and Kei may act, although they are completely blinded by the gloom. Peri's beam strikes the man's hairy back. It's sears an angry red burn across him. He shouts in pain and spins in anger. Bjorn gives Dwal a view from above - a 30-foot-wide blob of darkness covers the party, as the man was walking southwest toward the shore. (Stonehorn's belated charisma save vs frightened: 21)
So Gerrard, Kei, and Dwal may all act, blinded, if they choose. They hear Peri's crackling beam and the strange man's cry of pain.
OOC: Does the magical glow of his rapier keep any of the darkness away, or is it overpowered by the spell?
Unsheathing your moon-touched rapier indeed cuts through the magical darkness, but it doesn't quite reach the man, who was standing some thirty feet from you. But it creates enough light to render the party no longer blind, except for ranged attacks.
Unsheathing his Moon-Touched Rapier and Main Gauche, Gerrard is relieved to notice that he is not blind, but instead encased in an area of darkness that his magical blade is temporarily keeping at bay. Moving towards the location he last saw/heard the man, he tries to track him down once he is either out of the darkness or the man is within his light radius (bright light 15' radius, dim light 15' beyond that).
Tracking down the man (assuming a "dash" action is needed since he was 30' away and already moving away), Gerrard engages him in melee range and levels his weapons at the man's throat, saying, "Cease your hostilities and speak civilly with us, or we will be forced to destroy your vessel."
OOC: If it only took a move action to engage the man in melee, Gerrard will use his action to ready an attack if the man does anything except surrender.

An if'n he be the mouth fer some devil, we be warned and have to put together the clues fer how to deal with it." Dwal says. "To me mind, he's done no wrong save spouting crazy talk till we prove it to be true."
Dwal will walk after the young noble. "That lad's rushing after lunatics and monsters gonna get him killed."
As Dwal walks on, however, he reflects on his own lunatics and monsters he has pursued in the past.
