Gerrard will investigate the cases and the golden locket, as well as help pull the silver out of the cave--if the ogre sack is needed, fine, but if it fits in the saddlebags, that might make for easier carrying. If the contents of the cases or the locket appear unusual or magic, he will hand them over to one of the magic-using heroes to evaluate.
"What do you plan to do with the goblin in the hole, Master Fenwader?" asks Gerrard of Peri. "Is he the leader of the tribe you have been hired to deal with?"

Peri laughs and shakes his head. "I've no plan at all. I tried tellin' you earlier, I'm not the leader of this group. I was just tweakin' the dwarves' noses a bit. I don't think anyone wants me makin' the plans; Toktok is probably a better tactician than me. I'd like t' find out what's down that hole, though. Looked like some sorta ancient temple or somesuch. It'd be nice if Toktok could save us the trouble of goin' down there. Then I suppose we'll have to kill him."
The realization slowly dawning on Gerrard now that he finally has rested a moment to restore his strength, the noble has the grace to look somewhat embarrassed. "Ah, I see, Master Fenwader." Turning to the dwarves, Gerrard says, "Masters Qivys and Fiercehammer, I apologize for not consulting you more...I, ah, didn't realize your group was so...egalitarian. What is the nature of your mission against the goblins? What is your next step?"
"I would also be pleased to help you three in your current endeavor, if you could use my aid. It occurs to me that I could use some...seasoning...as a warrior, and my future as a noble is somewhat limited, as evidenced by how long it took me to catch onto your jest," says Gerrard humbly. With a small smile, he adds, "And if I can gain some renown as a hero, that might improve my prospects somewhat as well."
Not that he is trying to deceive you, but if you beat this Deception check, feel free to read the spoiler for some perspective on that last comment...

Given the nature of that smile and the way his voice softens when he speaks about his "prospects", you are pretty sure he wants some fame as an adventuring hero to impress a romantic interest...
You take a short rest in the cave and its entrance. While not enough rest to satisfy Gerrard's needs, it's enough for you to catch a breather and bind your wounds (and take some hit dice if you like.)
Peri keeps an eye on Toktok's hole as he plays with his new toy. It is indeed an exceptionally crafted spear, and imbued with something arcane. (I've added it to your inventory.) You see no activity near Toktok's hole, nor anywhere upon the clearing. But toward the end of the hour Peri's sharp eyes catch a glimpse of a goblin's head (and not Toktok's), peeking through the brush in the south/southwestern side of the clearing, perhaps forty feet southeast from the hole, and about 100 feet from the cave. It disappears as quickly as it came.
Gerard transfers the silver coins into the saddlebags. The locket opens to display the painted portrait of an exceptionally ugly old man. The four cases unlatch as well - there are mirrors in each, decorated with an elaborated painted wooden trim. All of these items might fetch some value to the right buyer.
Peri swooshes, thrusts, and twirls the spear and a big grin lights up his face. "Oh, I like this goblin-sticker! You can just feel there's somethin' special about it! Unless anyone objects, I'd sure like t' hang onto this."
While resting, Qiv will take time to bind his wounds (Read: take a hit die. Being new to 5e and the multiclassing rules, what die to I roll? D10 or D8?).
"May be that these fancy mirrors belong to the trader in The Marsh." It's a question as much as a statement. Directed to the new comer "Gerrard. It seems as though you can handle yourself and it would appear that our fourth has been kidnapped by rampaging equines, I'd be happy to have you along for whatever may come. One thing though. The young goblin sticker with his new stick is equal parts smart and arse all in one. I wouldn't take too much of what he says to heart. I mean, I've only known these two for a few days, but it feels like we've known each other for months." He takes a breath and continues, in a slightly more serious tone. "Our little group works cos we've no real leader. Each of us brings different talents to the table. Everyone contributes and everyone succeeds. Pretty simple I guess, but it seems to work."
His grand speech over, he looks around at the gear they've accumulated. "What with all o' this? We aren't chasing goblin scum with all this in tow are we?"
(Qivys has both hit dice; two of one, and one of the other. Roll either in the forum, and keep track of your dice in the "Short Rest" window of your sheet!)
"That's true, we all bring different talents to the group. Qivys is the muscle, Dwal is the workhorse, and me? I bring my inherent charm and roguish good looks."
Surveying their loot pile, Peri says, "It would be a challenge draggin' all that around with us. It's possible the goblins might be gone, thanks to the ogre, but there may still be a hideout needs clearin' out. Maybe Toktok can enlighten us, but I don't figure we can believe much of what he'll say. If we do have more work ahead, we can stash this pile somewhere and retrieve it on the way back to town."
Dwal rustles up from the place he seemed to be trying to get a nap. "What's all this ruckus?" he asks. "You telling more of your lies Thunderfoot?"
Dwal gets up and straightens his things, picks up his shield and war hammer and starts towards where the goblin is holed up. "Too much *****foot'n around. Lets get to the heart of this matter and get our answers."
Dwal makes his way to the hole that has a goblin and looks down. "Alright Boyo, out with it. What's yer kind doing robbin' folks along the roadway and how'd you get caught by some Ogre?" he asks firmly. "Mind ya, if'n ya don't answer true I'll leave ya for the grubs and other night things to have their way with ye."
Dwal walks back to the hole and gives a masterfully intimidating speech, but Toktok is nowhere to be seen or heard. That said, you can't quite see the whole underground cavity from the surface, though, as it extends north under a massive stone ledge on the surface. You'd have to climb in to fully see, and that would require a rope or other aid. The hole is quiet, as is the clearing.
"I have an item that can shed some light in the dark, if we decide to go below, though it seems like I may be the only one who needs it. No rope, though, unfortunately. Shall we go see what is down there, or head back to find your missing companion?" asks Gerrard, looking better after his rest and change of clothes, but not fully recovered.

After divvying up the dual burdens of Gerrard's gear and the ogre's and the warg's treasure, the four of you reconvene above Toktok's hole, joining Dwal.
You can't see or hear Toktok - the hole appears empty, at least from the surface.
The hole and the clearing are quiet, as is the row of scrub 40 feet or so to your southeast, where Peri spotted a goblin briefly just a few minutes ago.
It is late morning. It is deeply overcast and a thin fog is rolling in. A crow caws from a pine tree, eyeing the dead goblins on the battlefield.
Dwal finds no tracks (and indeed, might have obliterated any that may have existed as he paced while giving his very intimidating speech.)
Peri appraises the hole. "I surely would like t' know what's down there and where Toktok's gone off to, but I suppose this Hole's not goin' anywhere. And I don't want t'be caught down there with hostile toad-lickers up here, so maybe we should finish off the goblins now and come back for the cavern later. I saw one pokin' his nose out over there."
”So, we finish your task with the goblins, then food/ale/rest, and mysterious hole/cave tomorrow? Sounds good to me,” says the weary nobleman, adding, “If that goblin was right, they should be massing nearby, though for what purpose is unclear.”

The clearing slopes down to the south and west. A wall of taller scrub borders the clearing on the south, where Peri briefly saw another goblin minutes ago. There is a faint trail that picks up on the west end of the clearing that slopes down into more thinly wooded, grassier lands further west. The valley to the south appears more heavily wooded – leafless stunted oak with a smattering of taller pines. The crow continues to caw, but otherwise all is quiet.
At the best of times, Gerrard was no talented woodsman or tracker. As tired as he still is from last night's inverted suspension, the noble might blunder right over the tracks himself, so he stays to the back and watches the others. Still, he might get lucky and see something of use as they go.

The thought of battle with goblins and goblets to follow brings an almost maniacal grin. "Now that's a plan! Let's spill some guts and not our tankards shall we?"
Looking to the west and the south, he seems a little lost. "Ah, which way all mighty Peri? You're the closest to a goblin as we have, which way do ya think?"He slaps the halfling on the back but can't help and get one last dig at his pint sized pal.
((Apologies for the overabundance of alliteration lately. I don't know what's got into me.))
Gerrard sees a cloud shaped like a heart, which gets his mind wandering. Peri notices something unnaturally square about fifty feet south of the clearing.

"You mean a Torch?" Dwal says to Gerrard with a sly smile.
"I got a rope if we want to go down in that hole but, i am not sure if that goblin had an exit or scrambled up and out.'
With that Dwal starts looking around on the ground to see if he can see any tracks that might give him a clue how the goblin got out.
