Looking up at the sky dreamily, Gerrard trips over a root.
Dexterity Save: 6

Looking up at the sky dreamily, Gerrard trips over a root.
(OOC: LOL! And we both forgot disadvantage!)
OOC: Eh, I think he is still a straight roll with a save (that hits at exhaustion level 3), but I had to do something with a natural 1 -> modified 0 Perception check...

"Alright' Dwal says "This is all fun and games but it seems our new companion needs some more rest. I say we make came, up the road a bit, and everyone get a full rest and we can start fresh later on." he suggests.
'No need to go chasing Goblins in the full dark or with tired folk."
Looking back at the root accusingly, Gerrard says, “I’m okay, really, I just didn’t see that root in time. It’s barely midday—shouldn’t we at least look for the goblins for a few more hours, especially if they might be planning an attack?”

Oblivious to the discussion behind him, Peri moves toward the artificial object. "What have we here?" he asks as he pulls away whatever is obscuring it.
Slipping down a modest slope through the brambles and brush, Peri discovers a peddler's wagon, and a campsite of some sort. There is evidence of a cooking fire, some worn sacks and small packs strewn about casually, filthy bedrolls and crude water skins. This appears to be an active humanoid campsite, although nobody is currently here. The wagon is full of squash and pumpkins, partially covered with a canvas tarp, and has a closed, latched forward compartment. Peri notices a path nearby - a trail leading east and west.
The battle eager dwarf watches as his companion slides down the hill into the ever scratchy brambles and uncover a wagon. "Do ye think this might be the traders wagon that missed it's run back in the Marsh? " He shouts down to Peri as he fumbles his own way through the thicket.
Following in the burly dwarf’s wake, Gerrard manages to avoid most of the brambles as they were already trampled by his comrade. Seeing the campsite around the wagon, the weary noble looks around for a sneaky goblin ambush, trying to keep his head out of the clouds this time.
Perception: 6
”Looks like we may have found the goblin camp,” says Gerrard, looking around for any evidence of movement in the brush.

Peri:
"Smells gobliny all right, unless that's the produce gone bad. I reckon there were about five that attacked us, plus Toktok. How many did you see fightin' the ogre, Gerrard?" He will assess the camp, trying to determine the number that had camped here so that he might make a guess at how many are still up. (Straight roll 5 -- DM's choice whether to use Perception +4 or Investigation -1)
”When I made my escape from the ogre’s cave, I saw three goblins already dead and a fourth get killed by the wolf as I departed,” says Gerrard, thinking through the details of his ordeal. With a start, he adds, “If part of your task is to defeat these creatures, how do you plan to give evidence of their demise to your employer?”

Dwal
"Goblin ears may suffice as proof." Dwal says absently as he looks around this old camp sight. Dwal will inspect what he can and see if there are other tracks here.
Dwal sees loads of tracks – small booted feet - around the campsite, up and down the trail, into the clearing. It looks like they have been camped here for a few days, at least. There are no other tracks except birds and small animals enjoying mounds of roasted discarded pumpkin scraps.
Looking at the peddler’s wagon, Gerrard tried to figure out if it needs a horse to move it, or perhaps one or two of these burly dwarves could get it done.
He says, “Between the ogre, wolf, and us, most of the goblins might already be dead—except for their leader who was in the hole.” Looking now to everyone (not just Peri), he asks, “Should we try and track down the remaining goblins, or just take the ears off the dead and get this wagon to its rightful owner?”

(It looks like it's standing upright. Something artificial. All you see is a corner.)

Peri makes a superficial count of what appear to be bedrolls, although it's hard to tell what some of this grubby rubbish is: maybe eight or so?
