"As ready as we can ever be," Livly would not mind the relaxing bath but was too used to clean up everything with the magic to waste time now for visits far away facilities just for that. "Horses, supplies and rumors about the dangers of the Golden Road. Can saddle up right away!"
Brace hears about Volker and then sees Skip "Well, for my money this is a good trade. As complements go that is about as much as I can come up with, but it is very good to see you again Skip. We appreciate your help getting some supplies as well. You always were quick to act." Brace is a little distracted with swinging his new shortsword getting the feel for its weight distribution and style.
"Are you sure you are up for such a mercenary assignment. We make money to go where many have fallen before. I need the money and have an over abundance of confidence so ... it seems a natural fit. Glad to have you protecting my back." Brace is holding in a few thought knowing that these roguish types can be VERY helpful while at the same time being VERY unpredictable. Time will tell. For now they need his help.
Keth is happy to see Landrae and Ulfgar, taking a quick drink from an ale he quotes Brace, "Let's do this. Hopefully we can get right on the trail. It will be nice to be out and about in the road and not a boat."
Settling a week long tab at the Knight and packing up their newly acquired gear, the party sets off into the street. North or south, east or west....they quickly realize they have no idea how to get out of town!
OOC: Lots of missed info but y'all can handle it. What's the plan moving forward?

"Thanks mr. Brace... I uhh.. actually didn't know what job I had been hired to do... and I guess I still don't... but I am sure I will be able to help." Skip would reply as he tries his best to hide any nervousness in his voice.
As they prepare to leave Brace walks back into the Knight and over to the bar to ask the waitress. "Do you know where we might find a reasonable map of the area. We are realizing that we are ready to travel the Gold road out of the City" he points in the direction of the Gold road that so many have already alluded was in that direction "But we are realizing that we don't know the exact roads between here and there. Do you have any information on that score? Or know who does?" Brace waits for a response.
Tali smiles and nods before gathering paper and ink and drawing a crude map of the city elaborate web of roads from the Middle Ward into the center market that feeds directly into the Gold Road, then the outer city wall, and the gate. The gate you know is heavily guarded coming in but less so going out.
"You came from the East through the docks. The Gold Road leads west into Talamh itself. To get out easy but reentry into the city is harder." Tali warns handing the map over after scribbling the Gold Road towards a set of mountains. "You could pick up a map too if mine isn't helpful," she shrugs.

Brace gives Tali a quick and unexpected kiss on the cheek. "Thank you my friend. This will prove most useful. We will return if we are able and your establishment has been most hospitable for us." Brace returns to the others who are packing and shows them the information as they make plans to move out. He has loaded his horse with all his gear and is ready to enter a new phase of his adventure.
"I can lead out when everyone is ready, who are we missing?"
Keth secures his greatsword to the saddle of his mount and swings up on to the horse. The reins of the pack mule is tied lightly to his horse but he takes them manually in his hand to help better guide the animal. "I am ready, perhaps we should stop at the guards oh so briefly on our way out to ensure we have an easy way back in to the city. We could also inquire as to the bandits. It should not take long in my opinion."
Skip would struggle to to climb onto the back of his newly purchased horse. "Come on Muffin.. can't you just... bend down or something?" He would complain as he scales up the side of the horse and flops into the saddle. "I... I'm ready to go" The young man would say in-between deep breaths while wiping his hair from his eyes. After a moment or two, Skip would start to get a hang of directing the horse.. even stroking her mane as they made their way towards the gates of the city. The wind would blow his tussled hair around and cause his vest and baggy white shirt to flutter in the breeze. As he made his way down the road, it was obvious that the young boy was always watching.. his eyes darting form person to person as they came close.. and his free hand was constantly moving around his person... making sure nothing was missing as though he was convinced he would be robbed blind in broad daylight.
Livly was busy the last half an hour, grooming Bill. Now, though still kind of scrawny (that part was going to be rectified within next couple of weeks), pony could proudly display a shiny white hide and fluffed up mane, decorated with several bows. Then young halfling packed up and was ready to hit the road. She followed Brace and others through the gates to finally see that new continent they all were longing for so long.
Ulfgar is drawn to the black mare with little white speckles in her mane. "What a beautiful creature." Ulfgar says "I shall call you Beauty."He packs his belongings up, mounts the horse and looks to follow the others.

They party traverses through the city with little hindrance. The horses are well trained and moving through the Middle Ward with little issue. Then enter the Center market, the Eyes and Ears of the city locals call it, the party finds a steady moving procession of folks on foot, mounted, and several carts full or empty of wares waiting to exit. It's a bit overwhelming at first. There is an entry gate on the left side with a large expanse of space before the exit gate on the right. The entry gate has more than fifty guards well armored as well as a smattering of distinct religious warriors from each temple of the Four on the battlements. There are also large mechanism on both gates that serve as a buffer to entry and exit. The exit however has less protection it seems. A dozen or so guards with the same large wheeled contraption that lets a sections fill up with a dozen people on foot or two carts, depending on size, before human power turns works that turn the great mechanism allowing the wall to move forward. The party can only assume it is moving those exiting outside the city walls because when The wheel turns yet another empty slot is revealed. The walls themselves are intimidating, at least thirty feet high!
"What's your business leaving the city," a young grunt worker with rough leather armor and a toothy grin asks the party looking the motley crew of you guys over. He then pats the cart in front of him. "We offer protection for travelers." He adds as three other teens come out from the sides of the cart looking just as curious about the party.
The line out is catching up however it'll be five to ten minutes before the party can exit.
Ulfgar moves up to the head of the pack where Brace is and answers the young grunt worker "We are on assigment. But what protection is it exactly do you offer? Are there bandits on this road?"

Brace is listening to the youth. Ulfgar questions the youths and Brace adds a few questions of his own. "I am also curious about a few things here at the gates. What does it take to reenter the gates when we travel back through the pass? Can we leave a message with the guards so that they will recognize us?" Brace listens for a bit more and says "We are a strong group so unless you can convince us that you bring some special knowledge or power with you then I think we will be fine on our own. Like my friend Ulfgar says, what exactly is your offer and what do you expect to get in return for helping us?" He steps closer for the answer.

Skip will hang back and let his new companions do the talking... Still not entirely sure of what work he had agreed to. Looking around and focusing on staying on top of his horse, he would scan the faces of everyone near the gate.. trying to see if they all seemed legitimate.. or if any of them seemed like an ass hole or.. or if they were planning to extort the group.
"Skip," Landrae calls to he lad from over his shoulder, as she moves her horse up to the side of his, "are you seriously saying that you signed up for work without any idea what you were signing on for?" She pauses as Skip's nervous expression reveals all the answer that she needs. "Remind me to call your services next time my pet beholder slips his collar!"
Seeing Brace and Ulgar engage the teens, Landrae feels little need to add another voice to the discussions. Plus, she has a pretty good idea of the direction that they are heading in. Instead she quickly whispers to Keth "So, I don't like highlighting the fact that you are somewhat segregated around here, but I'm thinking it might be well worth our time to go make friends with those guards by the entry gate... Get a few names and promise a few drinks upon our return. If they see you with us now, it might avoid a situation later where you have to kill them all just to step back into the city." She winks at him.
Leans back to Landrae, "A good idea. Will go and see what I can do to win some good graces. By the way, those guys offering protection, pretty sure they are not guards and plan to cause trouble if we don't pay." He swings off his horse, leaving the mule tied to it's saddle. He walks through the crowd over toward the group of entrance guards.
"Hey ho," he calls out to the nearest of the guards. "Just wanted to say that I appreciate what you folks are doing here. Probably a pretty thankless job but know that not everyone sees it that way."
Livly kept the low profile, letting big guys to act. Those brats at the gate were obviously either an extortion brigade or bandit's informants. May be even both. But she hoped others will sort it out one way or another.
