Teydaar looks the bard over, and stops to speak to him. "The Monkey Butt?" he says, lips twitching a bit. "Don't let the Naicas hear you call it that.  And yes, it seems that there have been strange disappearances all over the kingdom. One hears most of those in the Free City, of course, but that's just because the information spreads so quickly there, due to the large population and the number of information sources available. I think it's much more widespread than is generally known. I think there is hardly a village where a child has not gone missing, and there have also been disappearances among the gnomes and smaller fey people."

You would think they'd be more concerned, but they seem to explain it away. Maybe their close family care but there is also a lot of dismissal. Do you know of anyone looking into it as a kingdom wide problem?

"A satyr I spoke with today said he heard the hags were moving again."  Raven tells the elven female in a soft voice.  "Do you think that is actually btrue?"

 "I expect that the Queen's Guard are looking at the kingdom-wide problem, and the city guard are investigating in the city," Teydaar answers. "I'm afraid I don't know anyone with inside information. If people dismiss the problem, I suppose they are simply caught up in their own affairs, and don't want to trouble themselves with other people's problems.  Which is half the trouble with the world."

He turns bck to the group.  "I am sorry about before, Lord Quentin.  It has been a bad day."

"Do we continue on to the coaches then?"  Raven asks, glancing to the group. She looks troubled, the elven female not having helped much with the news from the fens.  "Or does anyone have more business to deal with here at the academy?"

“Perhaps we should make our way to the coach. And along the way our new companion can tell us exactly why today’s been a bad day.” Quentin suggests 

Elwin blinked at the elf, before softening his demeanor with a smile. "A healing would be greatly appreciated, miss!"

As she worked her magic, he turned to the others. "Let's hurry to the coaches, and get there before the last one leaves!"

(( I'll presume her healing "tops me off" after leveling Elwin up. Speaking of which... whoo-hoo! ))

As you turn to go down the road, Teydaar is just saying, "I really don't want to bore you with my problems--" when the ground under your feet trembles.  In the field, the earth is heaving and bulging. 

Beezgar stares.  "My radishes?" he says hopefully.

The earth breaks open, and four tremendous, brobdingnagian, FLAMUNGOUS moles break out of the earth. They blink in confusion a few moments, taking in their surroundings. Slowly an expression of insane rage enters their little eyes. Centuries of mole-whacking are about to be avenged. One makes a high-pitched, squealing, reverberating roar, and they charge toward the gathered students and farm workers, most of whom scream and run in a panic.

Teydaar and Beezgar run to try to get between the monster moles and the students, Beezgar groping in his pockets frantically.  "I Know I have some Dispel Magic scrolls somewhere!" he says in a panic. Teydaar attempts to shoot a firebolt at the beast, but it turns and knocks the two of them sprawling with one swing of its giant, spade-shaped paw.

With his spear already planted in the ground, Elwin quickly grasps the arcane focus hanging around his neck. His eyes again flash blue as he speaks the arcane word to activate his spell: "Eisrüstung!" Within seconds, a icy mist has condensed on him, forming an armor of frost.

Gritting his teeth at their luck, he plucks up his spear and dashes toward the giant mole that had knocked down the two students.

Elwin casts Armor of Agathys before running toward the mole.

Initiative Check for when we need it: 22

Note: he's prepared for combat, so if one of the moles moves first and comes within 5 feet of him, Elwin will get an Opportunity Attack.

Del was in the middle of saying So there's nothing we need at the Academy? Just going on to Fr...effin crud!

Quickly drawing his longbow

“Unless they have someone who specializes in gravity manipulation.” Quentin says before the ground erupts and he lets out a groan before brandishing his wand ready for combat. 

Initiative: 15

OOC: I assume those of us who have to prepare spells don’t get our new spells for this. 

(Yep initiative, but you can go ahead and roll your attacks, the moles are spending round one terrorizing students. One is about 20 feet away, the other two are more like  40 feet away.)

Mindartis cracks his knuckles and draws his greatsword. "Ah, so it's a fight then." He says with a smile, charging towards the moles.

As Quentin takes out his wand he attempts to remember a spell he’s been working on that would help a lot right now.

Arcana: 17

Unable to fully remember Quentin says, “Blast it.” And just shoots a fire bolt at the first mole.

Attack: 19 Damage: 7

And, catching Raven's eye with a barely audible click, grants Bardic Inspiration (add d6 to any attack/save/check in next 10 min, you can see the initial d20 before deciding to use)

Raven was staring off into space, trying to think on the elf female's words, when she was brought back as the ground erupted.  "Something seemed to have grown..." She says at the sight of the massive creatures.

Drawing one of her blades she rushes to the nearest mole, hopefully with someone close to it. She then does a single short sword attack.

To hit: 18

Damage: 4

Sneak attack:  4

She then does a bonus action disengage and steps back from it ten feet.
