Without really thinking, Elwin joined the other knights in assisting with the meal prep, even as they joked that his training was over. He kept an eye out for the return of the others.

Del will give a benediction for the memorial, but concentrate the celebration. He'll write and perform a first draft of the ballad of the battle of the siege of Zanderfell's tree: performance 26

He uses his newfound leadership position to push folks towards caring about saving kids. He tries to find whatever people know about wierd happenings, Red Sails and the rest of our mysteries. 

“Hmm.....yeah. Go ahead. I’m going to explore some more.” Quentin answers as he continues to look for Zanderfell 

Quentin goes up another few floors, passing shelves full of books of science and knowledge, books on travel and geography, and finally a floor dedicated to magic and spells.  Despite the temptation to remain and poke through the thousands of spellbooks, Quentin continues upward.  Above the spellbooks, he finds himself in a sort of workshop.  One workbench contains what looks like bits and pieces of half-completed magical items.  A half-carved wooden lion stands regally beside a workbench full of woodworking and carving tools.  Looming shelves contain a myriad of small jars of components, herbs, medicines, and preserved oddities around a desk equipped for alchemical and apothecary's work.  There is even a small smithy, though no fire burns in the forge.  The spiral stairs continue upward.

There is an elf here in wizard's robes, lying face-down on the floor.

Quentin immediately lets out a string of elvish curses as he summons Henry, “Get Del Now!” He instructs his familiar before it flies off meanwhile he goes to his mentor and tries and flip him over and inspect what’s wrong, “You’re not allowed to die on me.” He says inspecting the man, though medicine not being a strong suit of his.

He appears to be alive, though covered with burns.

((Assuming H can reach him - and the portal is way up the tree, right?)) Del races after Owl Henry, asking Sir Elwin, can you fly me up to that portal? Lord Quentin needs me now!

He follows the bird through the rooms, and sees Q with the burned elf and listens to whatever Q knows. First thought - is this elf burned like the Tree is burned, remembering how he examined and spoke to the tree before?

Del reflexively calls down Healing Light - celestial radiance descends on the elf for 10 hit points

The burns are very like the burns on the tree.  When Del heals him, the burns fade slightly, and his eyes flicker open.  "Linked to the tree," he mutters hoarsely, as the burns return and his eyes close again.

Seeing the commotion, Mindartis follows Del up. After the elf's comment, "How do we heal the tree?"

“The Arch-druid. We need the Arch-druid. I don’t know how to heal a tree. I’m a wizard I can burn it down but.....unless.....” Quentin begins going through to see what Zanderfell was working on, maybe there is something here that can help. 

Investigation: 16

Billy the druid is casting plant growth, and the pixies are helping with the little magic they have.

Since the healing effect is so short, Del gets prepared with a quick question "Will Greater Restoration help?" He'll ask with Message first, and see if Z can answer; if he gets no answer he'll cast Healing Word for 8 and ask again

 Apart from the wooden lion being carved, it looks as if Zanderfell was working on creating some magical farming implements before the attack...doubtful they will help in the current situation.

Unable to get a response to Zanderfell, Dell casts another heal, and asks his question.  Zanderfell smiles painfully as the burns begin to creep back and says, "It will probably take many restorations...or a great deal of time."

Seeing Del's worried face, Elwin doesn't even stop to think. Grabbing the not-quite-half elf around the waist, and allowing Del to throw his arm around his neck, the warlock quickly dropped his pack and took to the air. He wasn't sure how much he could carry, but he figured he'd MAKE it work if he needed to.

Fully determined, he flew Del towards the portal.

(( I know there's really nothing Elwin can do to MAKE the boots work, but I'm 95% sure he can carry Del's weight anyways. ))

Raven frowns as Del and E fly off to the portal. With an annoyed grunt she moves towards the trunk.  She tells her squire to keep an eye out, then starts to climb up the tree, heading to the portal as well.

Athletics: 26

Del informs Q (and whoever followed us up here) what he heard It will be a long slow process, I am afraid. I should talk to Billy... 

His eyes following Q's scan of the room, does anything in the area remind Del of the hags' journal's content - like maybe the lack of context was due to scrying rather than creating?

I am not sure if we should move him, but keep him comfortable. The repeated healing and re-injuring is probably horrible - maybe I can coordinate something with the druid's plant work, and maybe the healing process should take into account this link. I don't know how, and think in may not be safe to break the link

Thank you Brother Del says to E and can I trouble you for another lift - down to where Billy the Druid is? (Del is pretty slight, malnourished as a kid, hardly a burden for E) And as we see Raven climbing Oh Sister, please don't, the tree is badly hurt. And its injuries are repeated on the Wizard Zanderfell. Sir Elwin will return and give you a lift, won't you Brother Sorry E is becoming a taxi service - what you get for the fancy boots. I am sure we'll soon be back to Del using all his slots arranging owls for out travel needs soon. Maybe some of the pixies can help casting fly, or sprites can run messages?

Del consults with Billy and with Ziia, about the link between Tree and Wizard, thinking maybe there will be a best time in the long-form Plant Growth to add in a Greater Restoration. Does it alter how the process should go? And if it is best to have Z outside the tree, or have Billy cast from inside, or leave things as they are? I can also do Plant Growth, though maybe I need to use the 3rd level slots to Send for help or info

Elwin has no trouble carrying the undersized Del up to the portal, and Raven scrambles up the trunk like a spider to join her friends.

Nothing in the workshop seems to bear any relation to the hag's scribblings.

Billy is performing the ritual and can't respond much without breaking his spell, but says, "Working alone, it might take me months to heal this tree..."  When Del asks him if it will make any difference whether he works from inside or outside, or whether moving Zanderfell will make a difference, he just shakes his head.

When Del asks Ziia for insights, she says, "Connected to his tree...like I was.  But this tree can move..."

Del quietly reassures Billy I'll send for help, do some research, and return to help later

Del returns to the workshop (E or a pixie get him a lift?) and preps a Sending to High Druid Talos, asking his friends for input. (25 word message coming up - but we'll ask for help getting help - I imaging the Lomolos High Druid has other work, but he's gotta know people, right?)

He will ask the magic library for books on tree health and healing, walking trees and elf-tree connection.

I think we have to stay a couple days, Zanderfell's not getting better fast. We'll need to help get this place defendable too, and quick

As soon as Raven sees there is no danger inside the three she would head back out to keep watch from outside.

Moving down the tree again, she would move to her squire.

"Seems like we'll be here a bit." She explains to him, squatting down next to him as he sits leaning against the big tree itself.  "You did good today."  She lays a hand on his shoulder and stays there for a bit, just keeping him company as they watch the area around together.

Quentin is thinking before saying, “The wizard academy. They have an entire agricultural discipline. Why don’t we call them for help? I bet Zanderfell has a teleportation circle in here somewhere. We could use it. I don’t know the spell myself yet so someone from there will have to teleport them all here but....it could give us the numbers we need. And the satyrs. Don’t they have any magical connection to plants as well. Do you think we can call on them as well?”
