Elwin stood at the ready, watching Mindartis closely in case a quick curse removal was needed. After a moment of nothing happening, he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Well, no apparent curse yet--we'll have to keep an eye open though. Do you feel or hear anything, Mindartis? Maybe you can speak through it?"

"I can barely get the blasted thing off," Mindartis grunts, trying to pry it off.

Well, no curse beyond wrong size Del says when his librarian duties allow Did it come with a letter? When did you get it? Maybe one has to attune, though that is a bigger risk for curses. One we can handle though, Sir Elwin or I can remove most curses now

"I dont think it's magical," Mindartis says, "it's just... the ring seems familiar, you know? We might have to go back to Castle Whisper."

Can we see the ring and the letter? And when did you get it? Del repeats There might be something hidden - Lord Quentin can Identify or I can Comprehend Languages. I don't imagine she sends a ring for no purpose, that you are supposed to guess where to go to use. Why do you say Castle Whispers? Do you mean just somewhere in the Fens?

Mindartis holds out the letter that came with the ring. All it says is "I can tell you things. - Auntie Knickerbritches" "Arania said that she ran into an old herb women who asked her to send it to me."

Del recognizes that the ring matches the two that you took from the hags under the Pixie Tree roots, and later sold. Maybe matching jewelry in covens is a sisterhood thing...

Raven will note down the locations of the moonblades.  She will then head back to where the others are.  "So we off to check out these red sails then?"

I figured that about the matching jewelry - maybe something'd worked if we still had the sets? A moonstone ring worth 150 then, the others sold to Tagrec. So just something to prove identity, I guess, unless we had one of the spells that uses a personal possession. One last try... Del asks the library about communicating with hags and matching jewelry, if nada ...I guess direct to Slate City. Probably way too long past to pick up any trail from Yonpinagel, but we can just go to Red Sails' main office

Elwin smiled at the prospect of moving toward their goal. "Let me gather up Oroman; then I'll be ready to head off!"

Zanderfell wakes up in time to glower over the wizards as they finish their allotted two hours of study.  "I'd only have permitted one hour, but I appreciate your taking charge and dealing with these persons," he says to Quentin. In time, the two hours are over, and the Thamasaille scholars regretfully file out of the tree.  As Lonvari thanks Zanderfell and tries to negotiate for a return to the library, one of the other wizards' backpacks starts bulging and jouncing oddly, then tears open, as a library book bursts from within.  It hovers like an angry wasp for a second, then bashes the offending scholar on the head a few times before buzzing back into the tree. The scholars hasten to depart as Lonvari makes a few anxious apologies to Zanderfell, and hurries over to you all to make his greetings and farewells.

That fancy poison ring would suit Sister Raven best; for the triple connection headband  -I can see where it would be handy to see Sister Raven's scouting, but I am not sure it is worth the attunement cost

Del thanks Lonvari for the help, but adds an edge of disappointment to his teacher-voice Maybe patience is something the school needs in its curriculum. I fear the business with the arch witch necromancy conspiracy will keep us busy, so wish us well and I hope to visit soon

"Probably best to get it out into the open..."  Raven messages back to Del.  "When we are away from here I'll tell the group, when there are not so many other ears to hear."

Thinking a thought, Del suggests to M Maybe if you sleep with the ring on you get dreams from the hag. They do dream stuff, I think. Not that that sounds appealing.

Once the farewells and any info from the dean and whoever, guess it is time to get heading west to Slate City. Not too far, I think - we are still relatively close to Yonpinagel? same side of the Westwoods as SC - but not within a single owl-hour? We can ride our assorted mammals most of the time, and take an owl flight a couple times a day with the beasts resting in the tapestry with Mr Fiskins.

We gotta collect our entourage: Ethan and Skizzix, horses, hyenas and mastiff. Is Flitterbug coming along? Get whatever is left of breakfast, get the leftover deer bones for Bongo and Laughtrack. Send word to Duchess Mellivanda that she can send R's stuff to the Abbey. Other errands?

"Ah, well, it's like bringing little children into a sweet shop," Lonvari chuckles, just before he departs. He seems quite happy with whatever research he has managed to complete, and not at all put off by his colleague's misbehavior or Zanderfell's glare.

(I assume that at some point after the battle, someone let Skizzix and the horses out?  In which case,  the mounts are groomed and fed and ready to go at any time you like. And, yeah, Ethan can go up a level. ^^ Skizzix is content caring for the animals, and doesn't really have a class or level. Unless someone decides to spend time training him...)

By owl, you can get most of the way back to Yonpinagel in an hour, maybe half an hour of riding afterward. The most efficient way to get to Slate City would be to take a riverboat.  If you buy passage on a cargo ship, it will cost 50 silver each and take three days.  If you hire a fast sailboat to just take you, you will get there faster, but prices will be higher and may vary. (Skizzix says one of his brothers has a fast boat, and says that for 300 gold, they can be in Slate City in a day.)

Where is the moonblade in the stone from here?  Is it along our flight path, or close enough we wouldn't have to go too far out of our way?

It's not exactly on your way, and away from the river. On horseback with an hour of owl, you could get there by late afternoon.  If you want to ride on toward Slate City from there, it would take about 4 days, though you could return to Yonpinagel in about 6 hours and still take a boat from there.
