Then stabs with both daggers - the one what bit him obviously, and either again (if still alive) or moving towards and jabbing spitty-face (if he kills the former)

Raven nearly beheads one grub with a powerful blow!  Del double-slashes the other uninjured grub, leaving it in sad shape.  Quentin, batting clean-up, kills two injured grubs with bolts of magic, and seriously damages a third.

Two grubs left, in rather bad condition...

Elwin and Mindartis are up!

ACTION: Elwin attacks the closest grub - 25, Damage incl. crit - 7

If he misses, or doesn't kill the grub, the next attack will be toward the same one. If he kills it, the next attack will be toward the last grub, after closing in.

BONUS: Secondary attack - 24, Damage incl. crit - 8

Feeling very much in his element, Elwin viciously grins as he maneuvers toward another of the ooze creatures and lunges with his spear. Barely pausing long enough to pull the blade from the ooze, he ducked and pivoted to strike at the second creature with the weapon's backside.

Having done so, he returned to a defensive stance, and only then realized his frost armor had dissipated... apparently the last acid attack had removed the rest of it.

Mindartis takes another swing at one of the grubs, annoyed by the fact he's having a hard time hitting them.

The grubs are dead, the last two finished by the forceful spear and deadly blade of Elwin and Mindartis! As you begin to relax, more grubs ooze and plop out of the walls, attracted by the noise of battle.  Fortunately, they seem more interested in eating the pile of free grub (literal) that you have splattered around the ground for them than in taking you on in a fight.  Quentin might want to move away a leeettle bit before taking that nap, though...

“Cannibalism. Great. Let’s just get your friend and get out of here for now.” A tired looking Quentin says, “I just blew through so much magical energy. Stupid fire trap tree... “ he begins to mutter a string of curses to himself in a non-elvish language as he carefully walks around all this goo. 

"..." Mindartis looks at the slugs in confusion before following Quentin.

Del casts Aid - Raven, Mindartis, and Del all gain 5 hp, and their max hp increase by 5 for the next 8 hours.

A bit winded, but feeling alive, Elwin blinked as he felt Del's magic affect him. "Ah, thank you, good Del!" he smiled as he also stepped away from the dead oozes and continued looking for Huark.

Raven smiles briefly as the magical health infused her. She doesn't look a whole lot better though (7 hp now instead of 2 hp...)

"Not sure I can go on right now." She tells the others.  "Another fight like that and I fear I will be done for..."

Mindartis smiles and rolls her neck and shoulders. "I feel like i could go a couple extra rounds."

It's more efficient to rest Del tells Raven but if we don't find a safe spot soon, or if we get in trouble, I can heal more in a second. Or if you need the peace of mind, efficient be damned

"I'll just have to be careful."  Raven says with a shrug.  "I'll scout ahead again..." She moves out, heading to a point about 20 to 30 feet ahead of the others.

Fear of another such battle lends excesses of caution to you all, and you proceed in complete silence. Raven's sharp eyes and deft feet identify a few rotten, spongy places in the floor, pointing them out so that they can be avoided.

It takes some time to travel all the way up the tree.  In ages past, Pitchpine must have held a large community of its own, like all the other trees in the Free City's grove of giants.  You seen no relics or left-behind possessions, though.  It has been centuries since the dying tree was abandoned, and time, insects and looters have all had plenty of time to eliminate any sign of habitation apart from the actual structure.

As you climb, the loud calls of the ogre make a strange contrast to your own deadly silence.

Finally, you emerge into a large chamber that seems to be the end of your climb. Perhaps this was once a grand ballroom, or a market, or a center of government. Now it's just a large, round room with a high, domed ceiling, walls riddled with huge wormholes.  You can see an ogre here, carrying a sputtering torch and looking into the holes one by one, calling, "Cup! Cup, you here?"

"Huarck..."  Raven calls out as she steps out into the room.  "Broken Cup isn't here.  we believe we have a lead as to who might have taken her, but need your help to get her free."

"Hmmmmm?" The ogre looks around at you, puzzled. Then he stomps across the floor toward you.  Until he's hovering over you, you might never have realized just how BIG an ogre is...

"You know where find Half a Broken Cup?"

“We have ideas but we can’t discuss them here so come back with your friend before we get jumped again and all die.” Quentin says seemingly not intimidated by the ogres size. 

"We believe Tajec has some leads on where Half A Broken Cup might be."  Raven informs Huark.
