Once at one of the local magic shops, Elwin began perusing their wares. He was in particular keeping his eyes open for a magic shield, or magic armor (light or medium.) He also mentally reminded himself to look into their healing potions, and to see if they had a Pearl of Power available.
The dignified elf shopkeeper tells Elwin that it might be possible to procure a Pearl of Power on consignment. Depending on what the seller demanded for it, it would most likely cost between150 to 500 gold pieces after the discount. "Serious inquiries only," he adds. "If we offer a price quote, we may not be able to guarantee that the item remains available for any length of time, or that the price might not change."

Quentin joins Elwin at the magical shop, buying the brazier and at least two casting worth’s of incense needed for his spell. While there he inquired about what spell scrolls the shop keeper has in stock. Telling him to surprise him in terms of spells.
After a moment's thought, Elwin smiled, and shook his head. "No, the Pearl of Power was more 'window shopping' for now. Please don't bother with that, then. However, I am interested in how much your basic healing potions cost, along with any magic armaments you may have." He lowered his voice a bit. "After applying the same discount, of course."
At the armorers, Del has no trouble getting a short sword, but the proprietor does have to go through the off-size and juniors' section to fit him with studded leather.

Faced with all the spell components, having a hard time trying to guess what he'd need to cast without a focus, Del settles for just a snake tongue and sweet oil in a little bag he can tie to his wrist like a bracelet. For everything else he figures a little reed whistle he can keep up a sleeve is much more flexible. You've studied more than I Lord Quentin, how do people keep track of components? An instrument is so much more practical
So he wants to visit a toy shop or a music shop in addition, fortunately we're based at the Willow. He'll goof off with instruments, stopped from playing a tragic ballad on a fancy lute, settling on the smallest wind instrument he can carry a tune on. I wonder if there is such a thing as an enchanted bow (obviously the musical kind from the context)
Raven picks up her studded leather at the armorer, but decides against the shield. She then leaves to go on her own as Del gets fitted for his own studded armor, looking for a less-than-legitimate business she knows of in the area, where she is able to get her poisoner's kit.
“Most wizards I know use a spell focus because material component tracking, unless absolutely necessary for a spell, is cumbersome. I don’t recommend it. I would instead buy a back up focus. Or perhaps focus your study on spells that don’t require a material component or at least only require one that is east to obtain.” Quentin answers the curious Bard.
For a bard, any instrument is a focus, since we see the movement in the weave like music. I have my fiddle and shawm already, I'm thinking of what I'd do if this honeypot thing ends in my being searched or bound. I think a very small whistle is the ticket. Del wasn't really looking for a lesson but he's patient
I will have to get some expensive consumables when I can cast the big life-saving spells, hopefully before we need them he says, touching his relic and mouthing Grant fortune Who-ever-You-are
The magic store clerk smiles warmly at Elwin and Quentin. "Healing potions cost 50 gold pieces each. As for scrolls, we have a wide variety of entertaining cantrips for 25 gold apiece, and most first-level spells are kept in stock for 200 gold, though due to high demand, Ceremony and Cure Wounds are reduced to 100 gold each. Spells above that level must be commissioned from our mages, who will negotiate the price of the individual spell. We do keep a few Prayers of Healing on hand, though, for 300 gold. All of these prices are of course, prior to the discount offered by your, er, business association. I am afraid that I am unable to offer you magical arms and armor without prior authorization or licensing by a governmental entity or law enforcement organization."
Del has no difficulty finding music shops on Willow! (Want to roll a performance check for while you play around with the instruments?) He can also find a toy shop, with extremely artistic and expertly crafted playthings...though if he is looking for more affordable items, he might rather check the central market.
And, of course, Raven knows exactly what shady backstreet black marketeer sells the best poisoner's kits...she could probably even find unlicensed magic weapons...but not cheaply.

After getting a glare for ironically playing a cliché, ( whispering Denied - no Stairway ) Del tries the lute on something else Lute15
Returning it carefully, he chats with the shopkeeper Long time since I played a lute of that craftsmanship. I usually pluck this fiddle, or bow it. What I need today is a small fife or whistle, I can keep in a pocket but will still carry a tune. And maybe someday a better bow, if such a thing is made, with arcane properties. Ever hear of such, or know who might craft one - this is for when I make my fortune, mind.

"I quite understand, sir," says the clerk. To be frank, apart from the sales of consignment items, we make most of our profit from magical novelties and trinkets. Rings that turn your fingernails purple. Elwin thought of taking a Cure Wounds scroll, but then realized his patron had given him a list of spells he could cast from scrolls--and he remembered that there was no healing on the list. A little disappointed, he took out 25 gold for a healing potion, then secured it into his backpack.
