You will be pleased to hear the the victims of this 'Barleyman' are all going to recover. They have been revived and questioned, and are being held overnight for observation at the Temple of Corellon at the base of Westoak. In the morning, they will be released to their homes or, for those without homes, orphanages, schools or apprenticeships will be found to take them in. I have arranged that the Tabaxi child, Half a Broken Cup, will be returned to your ogre friend. If you prefer, you may escort her home yourself.
I regret to inform you that the portable planar portal that you recovered has been destroyed. One of our forensic wizards attempted to cast an identify spell on it and was blasted for a great deal of psychic damage: apparently the item was shielded against scrying and booby-trapped. We hope that when he recovers, he may recall whether he learned anything about the hoop's characteristics
For more good news, while the cakes and tea samples you turned over were infused with paralyzing venoms, the sugar itself tests as pure. You may retrieve it at any time. I don't suppose you would care to bribe the police with one of those sugar loaves? The coffee at the station is terrible.
Signed, Lieutenant Hooleran, Free City Police.
The second parchment:
Honored Travelers:
The Free City owes you a great debt of gratitude! If not for your hasty departure from the city, I would have liked to thank you in person. As matters stand, there was a reward posted of 300 gold for information leading to the arrest of the kidnapper. While your actions do not precisely fit the terms, it is clear that you are more than deserving of the reward.
May the best of luck follow you in all your future ventures! You will always be welcome in the Free City, and I offer you this Key to the City, which will ensure that you may be welcomed anywhere you go and have a 50% discount on all goods and services.
Millethowen
Mayor of the Free City
There is a delicate golden key (clearly only ornamental in nature) and Draft of Credit on the Rosewood bank for 300 gold. (DM note: this does not stack with your Sharky discount, but will apply even in places or for items where Tagec's influence does not reach.)

Raven would give a grunt, hard to tell if it is appreciative or just grudging with how tired she is, as she reads the content of the letters. She then would just go to bed and get some sleep.
"Oh. Perfect. We can discuss more of everything tomorrow though once everyone has had a chance to rest." Quentin replies once the letters are read a loud.
so come morning, it seems like we all agreed on Linteler ((how do you make accent in forum?)) and the missing gnomes. We should inform his majesty, and have breakfast. And do we want to return to Free City for our various loose ends? Reunite Cup and Huark ourselves? Collect our reward and our sugar? It would not be bad to give a coneloaf to some of the people that helped us - the police, the liftworks, Sharky, the street kids, Marita. And, after sleeping on it, getting some to the Naicas is not a bad idea - alleviating the beer shortage might make many people happy, we could call it an investment given they cannot afford it. Otherwise, or for the remainder, I'd suggest arranging sales such that we do not either send it all to the richest few, or cause a price crash dumping it into the market. We'll need an agent to do any of this if we are not going to spend way too much time, and we won't get the highest price, but we can get some goodwill out of it and give many people a overdue treat.

Mindartis nods in agreement. "Seems like the case is closed. It would also make sense that Barleyman stole all the sugar just to make his job a little bit easier. I'm still concerned by the idea that their could be more like him out there somewhere. We should probably keep our ears open for more cases like it."
Elwin eventually awoke, after a rather strange dreaming interaction with his patron. He had mulled over the parchments Del had read, and had his own thoughts regarding them.
As the others awakened, he approached Del and Mindartis.
"I'd like to return to the Free City, mainly to check on the children, but yes, we really should tie up our loose ends as well." He grimaced, apparently thinking back to a specific situation from his own past. "It's not seemly for an adventurer to constantly leave things unfinished.
"And I agree, even though the Candyman--or Barleyman, whichever--seems to be gone, I'd also say that 'spreading the sugar,' so to speak, is a good idea. Of course, if this foul construct DOES reappear--or his 'auntie'--we'll track them down too.
"For now though: breakfast?" The warlock started heading away from the guest chambers, but without haste, allowing the others to follow if they wished. He wondered if Quentin were already there--as surprising as it seemed to him, he apparently had a bit of arcana to discuss with the noble.
Cases like the entire gnome village we are heading for? Or the two-dozen-odd more in Free City posters? And Tagec said more all over the Westwoods? Del shakes off his sarcasm Sorry friend, no the case is far from closed

Quentin has already made his way to breakfast, the noble now bearing a new medallion around his neck as he is going through his spell book, "Good morning everyone. Hopefully you're all more rested today. I think we should head back to the city before coming back. Tie up any loose ends, any last minute shopping, all that sort of thing."
Quentin will of course talk to Mindartis when they're both awake
"I am an elf but yes, feel free to ask your question."
"I know you're an elf. I'm, well the Feywild changed us a bit but we're basically still elves. Have you ever had anyone... interrupt while you were trancing? Like, you were still in your trance, but someone else seemed to take it over?"
Mindartis nods in agreement with Quentin, many questions still unanswered but ready for anything else that might come up. "Yes, plus I'd like to get all those sugar loafs out of there before someone gets an idea."
"Mirror huh?" Mindartis looks in thought. "I was in a grey, misty place. There was, someone else there. Or at least, their voice was. It was only a whisper, but it was so powerful that I could feel it shaking me. It knew who I was, it knew about my sister. It knew about this," he he lifts up his tattooed arm."It says it's been forgotten, and that when my sister and I met again I needed to speak it's name... a name that I'm not sure of. I've... never heard this voice before. It seemed, disappointed that I couldn't remember it, that it had been forgotten in the first place. And now,"Mindartis holds up his greatsword, now pure black save for the flames that seemed to outline the sword's blade. "I need to find a way to contact my sister, ask if she knows anything of this. You know more about magic than most I met, do you know anything that could help? Or maybe someone?"
"There is a spell that could send messages across great distances. Unfortunately I do not know it. And even if I were to learn it it would require me to be more familiar with your sister than I am. Know a little more about her, maybe even see what she looks like in a painting or something."Quentin ponders, trying to think of how to best help Mindartis
Mindartis nods, "I understand, I just want to see if she saw the same thing. This might be the answer we're looking for, if we can find the name of this mysterious entity." He seems excited and a little hopeful.
“I’ll commission a scroll of the spell for you. So when we return to the free-city it can be available for me to copy and use. And that’ll give us plenty of time for me to become more familiar with your sister.”
"I would greatly appreciate that, and am willing to help you with any costs that might occur because of it. I don't want you to lose all your money over something I wish to happen. Thank you Quentin," Mindartis smiles. "Of all the people I've met on this plane, you have probably been my favorite."

"Yes, that sounds like a good plan," agreed Elwin as he sat down to eat. He made no comment of the shiny new breastplate he had mysteriously acquired and now wore, with an emblem of a raven on the front.
However, looking curiously at Quentin's medallion, he lowered his voice and leaned toward him, "I thought you didn't have a patron?" With a smile he pointed at the medallion and added, "Or did you happen to find that somewhere in the guest chambers?"
Mindartis raises his eyebrows at Elwin, "Are you suggesting that he would steal from the people who very generously allowed us to spend the night here? And are now offering us work?"
