Studying the figures, Hox discovers that they are depicted in two shapes. Some are bipedal, while others have snakelike bodies and heads, as well as powerful arms that end in vicious claws. The bipedal sort has a humanoid upper torso, humanoid arms and legs, and a snakelike lower body. All of them have distinctive eyes, gleaming with red crystals. Many of the scenes are too alien for Hox to comprehend, aside from one that clearly depicts some sort of slave market, cruel and unjust by modern standards but seemingly acceptable at the time of the depiction.
Some carvings portray designs and diagrams, highly involved, uncannily close to high forms of mathematics and astrophysics, while others show abominable experimentation on various sentient races.
Meanwhile, Aradurk fastens the rope to the cliff face, sending the opposing end to Rycider and Gruun below.
Killian turns to look as Rycider and Gruun climb up after. Nodding at them and Aradurk, she follows Hox into the ruins. "Last time we saw statues like this, they were made by a creature. Stay sharp."

Hox and Killian lead the way through the ruins. Darkness and silence fill this outpost of some lost empire, with carvings and sculptures further within that contrast a clear elevation of arts and magic with macabre depictions of slavery and experimentation on other sentient races.
Rounding a corner, the passageway opens to a massive display of specimens; various races carefully catalogued and dissected on slabs of green glass. The bodies have obviously been kept here for this purpose, but even the most well-preserved has long since become a husk.
Past this room, the passage leads into older and more roughly hewn tunnels at a slight descent.
OOC: So sorry guys, Holidays were absolutely crazy and completely threw my normal schedule. I'm should be back to a daily posting now.
Gruun emits a low rumbling growl as they see all the creatures and depictions, he grips his Greataxe tightly and keeps his eyes darting to all the dark spots of shadow they pass. He also remembers the last time he was in a place of strange magics and statues.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Happy to see you back Gruun!

These older tunnels bear inscriptions and carvings with even greater detail. They depict a clear timeline as you walk forward. The great peak in the island's center, which the sculptures approach with obvious repugnance and trepidation, is depicted as the first land to rise from a primordial sea. The peak bore a temple to a nameless evil, which crumbled before the arrival of the amphibious humanoids in the carvings. Built by these intelligent beings on what might is likely Toril's loftiest and most terrible mountain, the nightmarish sculptures suggest age-old, vile things, described in the inscriptions as only the "dark tome" of the Dying King. Reliefs depict cultists casting humans and elves into pools containing formless, viscous agglutinations of bubbling tentacles. What happened to the cultists in this timeline is unclear, but the inscriptions suggest some terrible curse, and a hidden bridge to this temple that remains untouched out of pure fear.
A horrible guttural sound emanates from the distance, further into the passage.
OOC: Sorry for the delay, it's been a busy week switching jobs.
Through the crude and tight corridor, you come to a room filled with wisps of smoke. The passage narrows to a three-foot-wide gap, just wide enough for everyone to squeeze through.
Past the gap is a 30 foot square room, with a large, dark tunnel on one side. On the floor are the remains of the civilization depicted in the passage, their amphibious bodies ripped and cleaved into tattered bits, apparently preserved by the strange smoke within the room.
At the far wall is a stone door, closed and covered with magical runes.
Killian will hold her breath (while she is in the smoke) and move to just inside the opening of the long dark tunnel (hopefully out of the smoke), bow at the ready, scanning the darkness with her 120' of darkvision.

Hox examines the door, seeing no handles or even hinges with which the door might open.
A hissing sound emanates from the open archway as Killian approaches. From the tunnel's darkness, a massive snakelike head appears; then a clawed hand holding a scimitar, then another, then two more arms each carrying their own curved blades. The four powerful limbs converge on a huge snakelike body as the nearly ten-foot-tall creatures moves into the room and attacks.

Killian is immediately at the ready, twisting and leaping on the balls of her feet as the abomination throws itself at her, attempting to wrap its writhing form around her and hold her in place. Pushing that aside, her focus moves to the blades singing through the air toward her in every direction. Only one slaps against her armor as she holds the attacks at bay.

Placement: Killian is engaged in melee combat with the abomination. All combatants are within movement range of one another.
Killian dips and dodges, throwing her bow to the side and ripping her longsword from its sheath. As the creature finally tags her, she turns grimly and points a finger at it, and flames erupt around it! Then she throws herself at it, sword flashing!
Reaction from last round at getting injured: cast Hellish Rebuke with a 5th level slot for 21 fire damage or half on a DC 16 Dex Save.
Action: Attack twice with longsword in one hand (with Savage Attacker feat).
Attack 1: 26 to hit, for 11 magical slashing damage Attack 2: 21 to hit, for 16 magical slashing damage Savage Attacker: if this damage total is higher, please use it in place of one above: 20. (If a critical, then roll again for me?)
It was a crit! I'll roll! Here's another d10 to add to the 15 above to replace the critical damage with Savage attacker: 6
Note: Without shield, her AC is 17. Also, I don't remember if you want to mark spell slots or leave that to us, so I did not. That's the one 5th level slot expended.
