The sound of splashing is quieter as you approach the door. You can still hear it faintly behind you, but also hear some sound from beyond the wood of the door; a low, inconsistent rumble ekes through.

Trails of blood stream through the darkness as the surrounding hobgoblins also prove no match for your martial prowess. With confidence still resounding in his voice, the commander shouts, "Hold! Meet her on your terms!" The other hobgoblin, the last remaining of his contingent, remains in front of his commander and continues to dodge, waiting for the deathstrike to come.

TANAKIR:
You cross into the midst of the rattling, but curiously, it grows quieter as you continue forward. The corridor turns sharply to the right, and continues forward for a hundred feet before you come to a wooden door closed along the right wall. Thirty feet ahead, the passage comes to a dead end.
Hox starts to slow as he feels his senses start to relax. He looks back and no longer sees the dragonborn. He stops suddenly as he looks quizzically at the where the hunter once stood.
"Gruun...Gruun not see hunter? Not see kin of Bahamut?"
Killian tilts her head to watch the dodging hobgoblin, then strikes at it.
Move: She moves to engage the lone bodyguard, keeping it between her and the big guy Bonus Action: none Action: Attack the one bodyguard hobgoblin twice with longsword, with Advantage for dark cancelled by her opponent's Dodge. Strike 1: 14 Damage: 11 Strike 2: 19 Damage: 11
Damage Note: The Savage Attacker Feat damage roll for one of those hits: 15. If higher than one above, pls use this instead.
Notes: Darkness will last this round and 55 more, or Concentration.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
A wave of nausea rolls over you as you activate a trap upon the door. For a moment, your limbs seem to seize, but you fight past it, regaining control.
The room inside the door is large; large enough for the three beings you see within. Looking your way is a fierce, but young, red dragon, its wings ruffled atop its back defensively. Opposite the dragon are two whirling beings of pure fire energy, as big as the dragon itself.
"Troublesome," the dragon growls. Its eyes shift toward the elementals, "But perhaps a solution to our problem..."
The hobgoblin tries to listen for your movement, pulling its shield toward your sword. Though your sword slips past the shield, its armor rebuffs your first strike; it is not so lucky with the second when you step forward with the strike, slamming the blade into its collarbone.
Two javelins fly toward you, landing to either side. "Useless!" the commander spits at the ground in the darkness. "Come, then! I will show you your end myself!"

RYCIDER & TANAKIR:
As Rycider emerges from the corridor, Tanakir has opened the door to an empty room. Fifteen feet to the back wall, and almost twice as wide, spirals of black stones cover the floor. On the east wall is another closed wooden door. The words "Run away!" have been scrawled upon the wall near the door in black lettering.
OOC > assuming the last flunky is down... if not, she will stab him.
Killian backs away from the big hobgoblin, watching him warily in the darkness. “When I was a child,” she says in goblin, “I was the possession of a clan of goblins, a tool they used and punished. They would speak derisively and with fear, both, of the ones that owned them in turn, hobgoblins outside the city proper. I made them suffer, before I was done, the way they made us suffer.”
She circles another moment. “But I never did meet their masters. I hear you are a brave race, not given to fear or simpering. Still, I will kill you before we are done here. I imagine you think you will do the same, and so we are agreed. Tell me of this place, and how we might get out.”
Notes: Darkness lasts for this and 94 more rounds or Concentration. (I did the math wrong originally) Or about 9.5 minutes if not in combat.
"No little one. It has only been us. You should remember by now, we are your Clan and you are of my pack. I will not stand by for it to be broken. Let us find the others quickly, I do not trust this place to be safe."

ARADURK:
The dragon simply growls at your pleasantries. "Consider yourself fortunate,"it rumbles, "For you have met Ulfryz the Pyre on the day that he begins his hoard. I could take your life with ease, but I am feeling generous today, and I would prefer not to burn the gold you carry upon your corpse."
The dragon seems to think for a moment before agreeing with himself. "Hmm, yes, that will do. Deposit all of your gold, silver, and copper at my feet. Bow to your greater, and be on your way, creature," it says.

The hobgoblin stands still, his head turning toward the sound of your voice, a grin creasing his face. "I care not for your pitiful stories, wretch. Before I kill you, however, I must thank you for ridding me of these imbeciles. Useless fools," he spits.
He laughs at your final sentence. "There is no way out, wretch. But do not despair, for your days in this place are numbered."
In a flash, the hobgoblin has lunged toward you, barreling forward with his shield, forcing you off of your feet and onto your back. With a much greater speed and awareness than his "useless" minions, the commander drives his sword down at your head; though you grab hold of the blade with your gauntlets, the sudden ferocity pulls you out of your concentration, and the darkness within the room dissipates.
"And there's the little fish, floundering upon the banks of the stream," he grins, pulling the sword away and slamming it into your side.

Killian grunts and howls as the hobgoblin's sword finds home not once, but twice. She gets to her feet in a lunge, her own sword snaking out, looking for blood, no longer bantering with what has turned out to be a formidable foe.

Tanakir raises an eyebrow, "I hope the ship is still afloat. Wes is there, you know. Everyone who came ashore seems to have been separated. We're far from the island, more than a mile at least."
He looks at the writing on the wall, "I've never been one to believe in the writing on the wall. What do you think?"
"Lets get back and through that door Hox, maybe some of the others have found the way out of this mess." With that Gruun will move back to the door and open it.
“So let me get this right: you’re gonna strong arm an orc out of his hard earned coin in order to start your hoard. An orc who has fought some critters that puke something your size?” Aradurk’s voice gets louder each word, clearly agitated by the callousness and disrespect by the dragon. “I think ...you show me the way out and we call this even. I think if you choose this fight, I’m gonna end up with the dragon-scale armor I always wanted. Ya see, I tried to be polite and respectful like my human momma always tried to get me to be. But my blood says, nah - this - this is not the way. So, my scaly friend, I didn’t come here for a fight, but I will damn sure oblige.”

No worries if it doesn't have an in-game effect.
