Gruun gives each body a quick study to determine if either is moving on it's own but doesn't stop moving with the group. He'll also keep glancing behind them to watch their flank.
Movement can be seen within the trees further ahead: Two more bodies, these at their final rest within hanging gibbet cages. Despite the decay, their forms are recognizable. On the right side of the row of trees, her face pressed downward into the cage and an arm hanging out of it, is a human warrior with feminine facial features and dangling black hair, still wearing splint armor. Opposite her is a large half-orc man, judging by his greenish pallor. He likewise wears splint armor, with a stained and tattered cape-like cloak billowing in the slight wind.
The terrible jangling of chains continues from further ahead.
Two final shrouded bodies appear, these again hanging from the trees ahead of Killian as she walks forward. On the left, a genasi hangs limp; the chains above his head are burned and blackened but the steel apparently held long enough to do its deed. The last body is all too familiar: Another human woman, this one larger and taller than the last. Her face is also decayed past recognition, but the clothing she wears and the carpetbag that is still attached to her form are unmistakable. The cloth at her stomach has been torn or cut, and a strange rune has been painted across her rotting flesh.
Ahead, the shadow of a massive stronghold looms foreboding over the grim orchard.
The forest gives way to the stronghold, which rests on an overgrown mountain ringed by an array of rocky spikes that jut upwards from the ground. Decayed corpses are impaled on almost every spike, limbs dangling in a grotesque display. There is something vaguely familiar about the corpses.
The stronghold's vast outer wall does not look defended. The building is crumbling and the gates are open, with not a creature in sight.
"Perhaps the front isn't the best. Do we want to circle and check for a side door or back gate? There might be a place I can scale the wall as well. Mostly I do not want to stay on this path someone laid out for us."
Killian looks at Gruun with a sardonic smile. “What, you do not like the end result of this path?” She waves vaguely at the rotting doppelgängers behind her.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
You are uncertain why these corpses seem so familiar. They seem to span all sorts of races, from humans and half-orcs to monstrous goblinoids and exotic genasi.
From the ground, Hox does not see any other obvious entrances, but the crumbling walls appear rough enough to climb ; the decay has created many handholds. It is a climb of hundreds of feet, however, so the going would not be easy.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Killian watches Rycider with curiosity, which turns to disbelief. “You are going to climb that?” She will watch the other woman for a minute, the examine the more obvious entrance carefully.

Killian barely glances at her own dead body as she marches past, swirls of shadow skittering in her wake.

Aradurk, his interest piqued, slowly and looks carefully at the female human and the half-orc. “Who might you be - Alice, in chains?”, Aradurk asks.

Tanakir shifts his weight, reassuring himself with the weight of his arms and armor. "Someone's got a very clever hand at sculpting."
Killian continues until she can make out features of the stronghold, such as a gate, a moat, a bridge or something.

Hox remains on ground, looking about the area for other entrances.
