Killian nods, and begins to pole the boat away, or goes back to the oars, or does something else with Athletics to move us further away from the seaweed tree fracas.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
OOC: The Dark Waters are in the Trackless Sea, so the water here is presumably deeper than anyone could reach by themselves.
Hypnotic Pattern could fit both creatures, but that may not matter much shortly.
Killian quickly grabs a pair of oars, rowing like a woman possessed as the sea treants approach. Aradurk calls out their distance as Gruun adds to the ship's speed. The creatures gain quickly, but Rycider's image buys enough time to stretch the distance. With three treants already distracted, one of the approaching pair stops to thrust a limb through the reptilian bird. Before it can process the illusion, the other creature has fallen upon it in some sort of feral frenzy. The waters splash like a great eruption, and Maverick gains even more distance, borne on powerful arms.
A few long and tiring moments later, the rowing becomes easier. The seaweed thins, and you have passed back into normal waters unscathed.
Gruun goes to his pack and pulls our a few packs of rations and starts handing them around. "Nothing like a midnight run to help you sleep and get you hungry. Everyone OK?" After going around to everyone he'll lean over the sides to see if there was any substantial damage.
After a few minutes have passed, it becomes clear that nothing has immediately followed you. Gruun finds a lot of damage where the first treant crashed into the edge of the boat, but luckily the damage seems to all be above the surface of the water. As calm as the Dark Waters are, there is likely little risk of the ship taking on water through the night.
"I can wake you all in the morning," Wes offers. "You'll need your energy more than I, anyway."
OOC: Each character has gained the benefits of a long rest, and 2,000 XP for the previous day's adventures.
The morning reveals that though the damage to Maverick is not severe, it has caused the boat to take on a small amount of water. To make matters worse, there is no land in sight. However, after an hour of rowing, familiar music can be heard very faintly, and a shimmer rolls through the air.
Suddenly a huge island ringed with black mountains appears in the distance. The mountains themselves are surrounded by a circular beach, and in the center of the mountain ring stands a massive mountain, larger than any you have ever heard of on Toril. It seems to continue its ascent into the sky forever. Maverick will make landfall in a matter of moments.
"At the very least we'll have to investigate them." Tanakir is eager to be on solid ground again and disembarks as soon as possible, summoning his steed to him when he can.

With the trees distracted Gruun will also do whatever he can to further hasten their travel away from the trees.

Once the boat is well distant, Killian will pause to catch her breath, blowing hard. "We should... go around..." she offers.

Well ah nevah! Rycider comments, wiping her brow.

Killian stops rowing as soon as she feels the hull scrape on the beach. She comes up to stare at the massive mountain. “So, are we to climb that now?”

Ah certainly hope not. says Rycider, incredulously.

"We should repair our ship before we begin, we may have to make a speedy exit again."
