Narbeck smugly grins at Umbriel and Lyngheid's comments and begins reaching for his coin purse. His grin vanishes when Nyx starts her discourse, and is it continues he listens intently, starting to nod.
Nyx, make a Persuasion check, with advantage. Or are you charming him?
Narbeck smiles when Nyx ends her argument by blowing him a kiss.
"You make some fine points, miss...Nyx was it? Well said, Miss Nyx. And I agree. That song will surely delight those in Mirabar."
He pauses and thinks for a moment before nodding to himself and continuing: "Very well! The Weevil is yours. I'll have my men bring him out. But I'm keeping his fancy handaxes."
And with that he spins around and walks away.
A minute later several soldiers appear with a shackled Weevil between them. The dwarf looks up, blinking in the bright light streaming through the window.
Baeshra looks back and forth watching the others discuss what to do with the prisoner, nodding when they finally decide to turn the prisoner in themselves and he'll move to take the dwarf's shackles. Speaking in a matter of fact voice, "You will come with us now, if you attempt to fight, I will eat you and turn in your bones."
(I think it's faster to just go straight up to Mirabar, to be honest - I think we would have to backtrack to find a portal.)
Stepping out of the tower, Umbriel gives Nyx a nod. "Very impressive. I was at a loss for how to go about retrieving the Weevil, and it had occurred to me that perhaps he was allied with Narbeck, but you've saved us a lot of trouble. We'll need a constant watch on him, of course, but I may be able to make him think twice about running."
Before the group leaves with the Weevil, Umbriel will walk over to the Dwarf, and perform a series of arcane hand gestures and mutter unintelligible phrases under his breath, before pricking his thumb with the point of a dagger, drawing out a bead of greyish looking blood. He will then trace a symbol on the Weevil's forehead, and say "Do you remember that pain in your head when you attempted to escape from us? That was my power, linking to the shadow of your soul and giving me the power to know your location no matter how far you ran. This is the same thing, but more permanent. We are bound now, you and I, and I will always know exactly where you are should I wish it. If you come with us quietly, you will be treated fairly while in our custody. If you fight us, my reptilian friend here will eat you. If you flee from us, I will find you and then he will eat you. Be on your best behavior now, if you don't mind."
(The blood mark is nonsense, of course, but Umbriel is betting the dwarf wouldn't know that.)
Make Intimidation rolls, Umbriel with Advantage().
Yes, it's only about 4 days journey north to Mirabar. Do you want to set out straight away? Normal Pace? If so, make 4 DC10 Survival rolls at disadvantage(). Fails consume a ration. Or just consume rations. And then give me 4 Perception checks.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Umbriel's Intimidation: 15
Four Survival checks: 6, 11, 14, 12

Along the way, Umbriel would keep a close eye on the Weevil, but when given an opportunity, he would occasionally check for large amounts of adamantine within the region, and he'd also check on Lyngheid. "How are you doing, Little Mother? You seem a bit preoccupied. Is there anything you'd like to talk about?"

" We've a struggle ahead of us. Dragons, Giants and Ancient Magics. Thats three things I swore I'd never get involved with...and yet here I am."
" Your Lord.....what are his feelings on things? Or do the struggles of the living not interest him?"

"I'm fairly certain he doesn't want this to end badly - in the grand scheme of things, he seeks to unlock the secrets between life and death, between light and shadow, and between the natural world and what lies beyond. He can't do that without people like me, who go and explore the world for him, and he certainly can't do that if everything turns to ash. In the long run, as I gain power and learn to funnel shadow magics through me, I become of greater use to his research, so it's in his best interest to assist us when he deems appropriate. I am confident that we will succeed, though the challenges will be great. At least we all have each other, yes?"

" We do."
" And your right, I'm missing the temple and arranging folks lives and crafting fastings that will last a lifetime. Fighting giants is well enough, but wedding planning....thats a real challenge."
"Weddings... I will never be bound to someone like that. I do not understand what you other races see in it, it's definitely not for Satyrs. I bet Baeshra would not get married... what do lizardfolk do for marriage anyway Baeshra?"

The Weevil starts to laugh at Baeshra, but then his laugh turns into a grunt and a grimace as Umbriel does his "ritual". The Weevil puts his head down, not meeting anyone's gaze.
The first day of travel passes uneventfully. Camp is setup, and the night is a little chilly, but no issues occur.
On the second day of travel, the 18th of Eleint, The Weevil still keeps his head down and grumbles, but doesn't cause any issues. The morning passes into a quick break for lunch shortly after noon. Fresh foraged berries and several squirrels are enjoyed along with the rations for those who didn't forage.
Around 3 pm, the heavy forest thins a bit, letting more light in. Something catches Umbriel and Ireniana's eye about two large boulders on either side of the road 150 feet ahead. Perhaps a flash of movement, or the sun reflecting off of something that it shouldn't be. You aren't sure, but something struck you both as unusual. No one else saw anything to be alarmed at.
