Baeshra heads for the entrance. (Did we ever get inside that chest from earlier? I can't remember.)
Yes, it was mostly full of copper coins.
Droop's eyes get very large at the site of the jade statuette. "Thank you Umbrella! Statue is very shiny. And green. Like Droop!" He takes it and turns it over and over in his hands, chattering excitedly to himself in goblin.
The party returns to Pale, the horse and the Mule where they pack things up and rearrange their gear from combat to traveling.
The return voyage to Phandalin is largely uneventful, although it is a bit slower than usual as the day turns to night a couple of hours into the trip.
The party reaches Stonehill Inn shortly before midnight, where Toblen is again awakened, rooms are procured and Pale and the mule are taken care of.
(5 Silver per room, plus 3 per person per breakfast, who is paying what?)
A long rest is had and the party awakens in late morning of the 21st of Flamerule. At breakfast, Toblen delivers a message from Gundren.
"Meet Nundro, Sildar and I at the Townmaster's Hall before lunch."
Wiping the corner of his mouth with a napkin, Umbriel stands, and out of habit, checks Droop's plate to make sure he wasn't eating horse.
"Agreed, Lyngheid. Let's give our report to your cousin. I'm curious to know whether or not he has heard of this Duke Zalto. I'd also like to ask if he thinks he'll be able to restore the magic of the forge - that could turn it into more of a lucrative target for other groups seeking power - like those orcs we've heard mention of near Wyvern Tor."
(Droop's breakfast is not horse, just delicious pork snausage, with a side of bacon).
When the party arrives at the Townmaster's Hall, the fat Townmaster, Harbin Wester, takes off his hat and ushers you into a meeting room. Gundren, Nundro, and Sildar Hallwinter are all present in mid conversation when Harbin shows you in.
Gundren stands up a wide smile showing through his bushy beard. "Lyngheid! You whippersnapper. Nundro has been telling me all sorts of stories. I hear you and your friends pulled off a daring rescue of him, and practically cleaned out the whole mine by yourselves. Is that true, lass?"
"Aye, that we will! Get it up and running in no time. Not only that, lass. But, we're going to cut your little group in on the profits. Ten percent. That's right, ten percent of the profits will go to you all as payment for rescuing us and clearing it out."
Sildar speaks up.
"Also, the Townmaster, and the town council and I have been talking. For your services to the little town of Phandalin, they would like you to take ownership of Tresendar Manor. Now, it's pretty wore down, and will take quite a bit of gold to get it cleaned up and livable, but maybe the first few quarters of your share of the mines profits can help out with that."
Umbriel cracks the briefest of smiles at 'warriors and weirdos', and says "I am amenable to that - it will be nice to have a place to call home after so long. In addition, we have unfinished business in the area and although I enjoy the Stonehill Inn, I'm sure Master Toblen's business will be picking up as the mine returns to full strength. As always, though, I stand with my compatriots and their decision."He stops, a brief furrow across his brow. When the moment is right for a segue in the conversation, he'll add, "Has anything odd or untoward happened here since we've been gone? Strangers or inquisitive types poking about? I'm just worried that a mine of such legendary reputation may become a target once more. Are you familiar with a 'Duke Zalto'?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Nyx sleeps in and wanders over late, a mug of ale in hand. On hearing the news the Satyr flings the mug in the air and yells out with joy.
"Well i have been the main guest at a lot parties but never hosted one in my own manor. I would say that even though I have only known this group for a short time, I can definitely speak for them when it comes to accepting gifts of mine shares and property.
May I say, you made a great decision mayor. Fantastic. Its that great it deserves a little tune."
Nyx whips out her flute and starts to dance around playing a tune. Using the magic imbued in her instrument, it looks flowers sprout from her steps and petals splash upwards like water spray.
Whistler and Owlbear are peaking through the window, BIG. OWLBEAR AND WHISTLER. EYES.
Whistler whispers to Owlbear, "That guy said we get food and Nyx is dancing because of food! Whistler said we look after friends." He scratches behind the Owlbear ears.
Ireniana finishes her food. "A manor sounds great. I've grown to like it here in Phandalin." She listens to Umbriel speaking to Sildar and adds. "Duke Zalto is a ruler of the fire giants. We found a note to him in the mine."

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Baeshra gives a satisfied nod at the ‘warriors and weirdos’ comment, glad that his allies have finally accepted that their skin is too soft to be true warriors. When they talk about giving him and his allies the manor and a share of the profits he thinks for a moment about it, then remembers the nice pool down there and nods, “I will take the room by the pool. We may be traveling a great deal again soon, though, so can we count on you to faithfully rebuild and maintain it while we are gone?” (Also an option for Rosie to stay behind until her player can rejoin us?)
Nyx gives a masterful performance, and everyone watches her dance with the magical flowers sprouting with each step. Sildar laughs and applauds "I haven't seen such a thing in nigh on 20 years, well done little Satry, well done!" (Take an inspiration point as well!)
Sildar replies to Baeshra: "The Townmaster, Harbin Wester, can point you to some locals who can get started on repairs, and maybe a cook and housekeeper once it is up and running."
Sildar and the dwarves look at each other in thought at the mention of Duke Zalto. Gundren replies "Naye, we haven't heard of anything recent. Growing up, long ago mind you, we heard tales of fire giants working forges deep in the bowels of the earth. But no specific fire giants."
Sildar nods, "I have not heard of this Duke either. But I can ask my guild about him. Why do you ask?"

Ireniana CON SAVE - 12
"Agreed," Ireniana says as she walks toward the entrance with the others.
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Lyngheid sighs and nods at a job well done, " Well, let us go and give my kin the good news."

Lyngheid plonks 15 gold down confident that will cover everything + tip.
" So, shall we all go meet my cousin? Better living family than dead."
(( Actually....all the ghouls...were they originally dwarven or orcs or something else?))
Toblen stutters, then responds "Thank you, that will do nicely. I'll reserve your 4 rooms for the next two nights, along with breakfast and dinner!"
The ghouls were orc and human. None looked dwarven.
Wiping the corner of his mouth with a napkin, Umbriel stands, and out of habit, checks Droop's plate to make sure he wasn't eating horse.

" Of course, with these doughty warriors and weirdos at my side it was never in doubt."
" More importantly can you hold it and get it up to speed again?"
"Aye, that we will! Get it up and running in no time. Not only that, lass. But, we're going to cut your little group in on the profits. Ten percent. That's right, ten percent of the profits will go to you all as payment for rescuing us and clearing it out."
