Darren takes out his rope and starts trying to bind the unconscious brigand. Though he appears to be struggling to do so effectively with his grievous injuries.
(Dex, 7 For tying him up. Steve feel free to interpret the roll differently if you like. But it made sense to me given he’s at 1 hit point)
Rhane, you do indeed find the weapon, armour, bedroll and other minor items stored on a shelf in one corner of the room. No rations or other food though - those appear to have been taken and perhaps consumed by the brigands.
Alton, you search the bodies and find a total of 54 gold, 42 silver and 98 copper pieces. You don't find any healing potions on the bodies.
As there's no time pressure or danger, Darren successfully ties up the brigand. As you are doing so, you can quite clearly feel that his appearance and his body don't quite match up - the man you are touching and binding is slightly smaller and more slender than the figure you can see, and your hand almost seems to clip through the illusion at times. Nothing that stops you restraining him though. He is still unconscious, and doesn't look likely to wake soon.
Alton counts out the coins, handing everyone 10 gold, 8 silver, and 19 copper. He'll then give Rhane the extra 4 gold, 2 silver, and 3 copper. "Hopefully this will help you replace any of your gear that you can't find." He says as he hands the money over to Rhane.

Alton looks to Balassar, "Do you want to take Kef and search the other rooms we passed by, and we can take a breather before dealing with him." He points a thumb at the bound brigand.

Balassar nods “I think we can do that real quick.” He says looking at Kef as he walks over and places his hand on the boys shoulder “You’re doing good. Let’s go clear some rooms.”
So, there are no other living brigands in this place, and none will return in the next 24 hours, so you have plenty of time to search this hideout thoroughly and to take a short rest now and a long rest later.
Searching through the complex and the various brigand corpses you have killed, you find a total of 280 gold pieces, 253 silver pieces and 524 copper pieces. You find ten maces and eight sets of leather armour that have not been damaged much in your assault; you could haul them back to Zadash and attempt to sell them. They're heavy, but given that there's a war on you'll probably find a buyer - unless they're just confiscated.
The room where the final fight took place was clearly the leader's main base of operations. You find two large keys and one tiny key on the man's person; one of the large keys opens a chest in the same room. Within the chest you find the following, which you can identify easily enough.
Four regular potions of healing One potion of greater healing One scroll of Cure Wounds One potion of animal friendship One potion of water breathing One potion of mind reading One wand of magic missiles
You also find paperwork referring to the activities of this brigand group, the Shadowless. It's list of resources, accounts, expenditures and so on, covering the last few years. If you take the time to read the papers carefully, the picture that emerges is of a leader who is trying hard to turn a gang of petty thugs into a serious organised crime operation, and hasn't had much success. The group's activities are documented, planned, organised with great care, but most of what they do is very minor, unimpressive, and sloppy - lots of mistakes and botched endeavours leading to the group having to lay low or move on to avoid too much attention from the authorities.
You may recall that in the storeroom above, you found an unusual crate with a keyhole and a lot of complex magical traps. You are confident that the other large key will fit the lock, but cannot be sure if that alone is sufficient to open it safely. If one of you would like to try it, let me know.
If any of you are making a point of staying with and guarding your prisoner, let me know. If you want to try to wake him up, you will need to use magical healing - otherwise he will wake eventually, after a few hours.
Resting for a bit after bandaging his wounds (short rest), Rhane rouses himself when the others return with the bandit’s loot and paperwork (Spending 3 HD takes him to full health).
As the discussion turns to the chest above, Rhane says, “There were wards on that chest. Do any among us have the skills to disarm them safely with the key we possess?”

As Alton spends some time resting he unstraps the lute from his backpack and plays calming melody. (Anyone who spends hit dice can add an additional 1d6 from song of rest.)
Alton takes a look a the loot, "That's some haul you two found." He sits down a begins storing everything out. "I'm sure we can ask sleepy over there about the crate when we wake him up. I don't really have anything that can deal with magical traps or locks." He puts all of the healing potion and the cure wounds scroll into one group and sets the other potions to the side along with the wand. He'll then spend some time sorting out the coins into five piles. "Alright, so everyone come pick out what they want. I've got the healing stuff in one pile, the wand and other potions in another, and each pile of coins has 56 gold, 50 silver, and 104 copper. With 3 silver and 4 copper left over for anyone who wants it."

Balassar just nods "Was a good mission and we worked well as a team." he said looking at the new companions "Maybe we could use a long pole with the key attached on the end?"
Alton looks up, "Oh, I completely forgot I've got a magic hand we can use to put the key in the barrel, so we can all be at the bottom of the ladder or outside the room."

Balassar just takes the gold Alton separated out and then a single potion as he rests with his back against the wall "Then we can head out and turn this guy in."
Darren looks very much like he’s seen better days before the group is able to take a rest. But thanks to Alton’s soothing melody and his time at sea during inclement weather, Darren appears to be feeling much better after the rest.
(Used all hit dice plus song of rest to recover 38 hp. Plus used arcane recovery for two first level spells. And I have use of second wind again)
Moving over to the pile of loot that Alton has just finished diligently sorting says, “My friend I think you missed making an extra pile of the coin.” As he points towards Kef. “He did quite a bit of work here to, no? Also I do not think I would be standing if he wasn’t such a crack shot with that crossbow (or appropriate ranged weapon being used).” Darren looks over the loot, “He can have my share of the coin you’ve already split and I’ll take that little pile there,” as he points towards the 3 silver and 4 copper, “and the hold the rest of the haul of potions plus the wand of no one objects?”
(which unless I missed something would be the list minus two regular healing potions? I’m gonna wait to make changes to my character sheet until everyone has a chance to weigh in)
Relating to the mysterious unopened chest Darren simply adds, “it’s probably best to try and open from as far a distance as we can manage if no one can deal with magical protections. They can be quite nasty.”
(I’m fairly certain Darren is not able to do so. But I may have missed something.)
Alton stands up brushing off any dust and dirt from his clothes, "I didn't forget about Kef. I've got plenty of money for now, so I didn't count myself." Alton looks to the unconcious brigand, "Should we make sure this is our guy first before dragging him back to town or the city?"

You are in a brigand complex, some miles from the small town of Feltyr, which is in the Dwendalian Empire, between Zedash and Berleben on the map.
Alton and Balassar were here carrying out a paid mission for Lord Teratt, to find and deliver justice to his son's murderer, a man with a wheel tattooed on his face.
Swin and Darren are here to find Rhane, who has been taken prisoner by the brigands.
You also have Kef with you, a young and inexperienced Crownsguard from Feltyr.
You released Rhane, killed all the brigands except one you allowed to flee, and the apparent leader (you believe his name is Wainwright) is now tied up and unconscious from his wounds.
You searched the complex and found a decent amount of gold, some potions and a magical artifact.
You found a heavily-trapped crate, which Rhane is about to try to open.
Rhane, you use your mage hand to open the chest with the key - it succeeds. It appears that whatever magical dangers might threaten someone attempting to open the crate without a key, they don't affect anyone who does have the key.
Inside, you find the following items: Potion of Waterbreathing Dust of Dryness Three spell scrolls A longsword wrapped in a heavy red cloth A brass ring A small figurine of a dinosaur
After finding this, you return to where the brigand leader lies tied up. You do not recall having seen the man before. But you can attempt a Perception check if you wish, as you stand studying the man.
