sorry, I was referring to the rules that already exist, from the PHB: unconscious Unconscious An unconscious creature is incapacitated, can't move or speak, and is unaware of its surroundings. The creature drops whatever it's holding and falls prone. The creature automatically fails Strength and Dexterity saving throws. Attack rolls against the creature have advantage. Any attack that hits the creature is a critical hit if the attacker is within 5 feet of the creature.
You find, Anakis, that you cannot target the toad with acid splash using hearing alone. You would need to be able to see your target. Would you like to do something else?
Fluin, make an attack roll to see if your rapier hits the toad and describe any movement, bonus action, or other flourish you wish to take on your turn.
Anakis runs over to the end toad’s burrow, or where she thinks it is based on the sounds. ‘Sorry Torrent’ she thinks as she gets out her tinderbox and sets the underbrush alight. She then high tails the remainder of her movement back towards the centre of the line (at about 45 degrees away from the line), keeping watch for any emerging toads.
(Guys I am leaving this game. Thanks for the fun of it and while it lasted. If we cannot have discussions on game mechanics and come to agreements on same, then I don't feel I am a good option for this game. I like to know what rules I am to follow, and those rules help me make decisions about my actions. If I can't even get clarification of those rules, without the feedback that rule questions should not be asked, then I think I will find other games to play in. In my above question I was asking about Fluin's attack on the sleeping toad, which, according to the PHB rules is unconscious until Fluin did his first attack. I am sure the rest of you will be fine to continue without me, but I am too much of a DM myself to not ask questions and for clarifications when the game does not follow core rules. I don't have to have a game follow those rules, but I will always ask for clarification when something does not. If the DM has a reason, or their game is not using some rules, then that is 100% fine, but, as is often the case, if the DM just isn't up on the rules, then I always find it best to discuss them, so that we can come to an understanding of what is happening in game.)
I am sorry for my earlier post. I have had a very stressful day today, with my 9 year-old daughter just going to the ER a few minutes ago. I shouldn't have said all that I said there, but let my frustration carry over to the game. I am truly sorry for my post above, especially for doing it that way. I should have PMed the DM privately on my issues and not done a public post as I did. Again, this is not how I normally work so am apologizing for doing so here.
(No worries :) I agree with Arcturos, things have been pretty rough for a lot of people. I hope things get less stressful, and I hope your daughter feels better soon.)
Anakis, it's doubtful whether enough exposed fuel is present to start a fire in the underbrush as a single action. Make a DC 15 Dexterity check to see if you can quickly gather together enough dry material to start a fire that will spread through the wood and light it safely. If you succeed, the fire will engulf a 5 foot square space within one round, spreading to adjacent spaces on the following round. If you fail, the fire flares up too close to you and you must succeed on a DC 10 Dexterity saving throw or take 2 fire damage, knocking over the fire and putting it out whether you succeed or fail on your save.
Fluin rages and strikes at the surprised toad.
Attack: 24 Damage: 13
Torrent, as Anakis begins setting the bog alight to your right, and Fluin and Ulben attack their toads across from you and to your left, the toad in front of you seems very keen on escaping from the sudden fury that's been unleashed on either side of it. What do you do?
Torrent looks at Anakis, quickly debating which will be the more pressing issue. Not wanting this toad to also get away, he prepares to attack it. Having lost the element of surprise, he realizes that burying it will be ineffective, so instead, he prepares his focus and attacks using Thorn Whip.
Attack: 6 Damage: 5

Your thorny vine whips through the brush but flies over the toad without making contact.
Aluzira, you're hidden in the wood as you can hear Fluin and Ulben fighting their toads in front of you. Tarek, you hear the sounds of battle being engaged in the wood on the other side of the low mound behind which you are concealed. As the fight breaks out ahead of you, what do the two of you do?
"Bother," Aluzira says to herself as she pulls out her daggers. She strikes the nearest toad that Ulben seems to be fighting, striking with both daggers holding them firmly in her hands, before backing up towards the ice (Staying within melee range of the toad though.) and watches to see what the toad will do next.
Tarek is going to try and climb up on top of the mound (Athletics: 17 if needed) to get a better view of the toads before launching a javelin towards the toad on the far left. (Attack: 10 Damage: 8)
A puff of smoke rises from the smolders of Anakis' fire and drifts slowly to the east. There is very little wind today.
Aluzira, having been at least 30 feet from the toad furthest to the right, you can just make it through the tangle of branches to the one Ulben is fighting, coming up on his left to hit the toad with your dagger.
Tarek, as you move towards the top of the low mound, you can see that the woods in front of you are quite dense and that neither the toads nor any of your companions can be seen therein. Judging by its noise, however, the toad on the far left is a good 55 feet away, imposing disadvantage on your throw which misses its mark. The bright side is that you are now unencumbered.
Ulben, with Aluzira beside you, the toad you both face seems to have recovered from its surprise and is ready to fight. What do you do?
Anakis, with your attempt to make a fire having failed (normally making such a fire would take an entire minute), no brush has been cleared. You have just enough time, however, to act before the toads make their move. The two toads on your end of the line are both 15 feet away from you, and the one faced by Torrent seems ready to make a break for it. What do you do?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Anakis sees that the toad Torrent faces is looking to make a getaway and fires a ray of frost at it (Attack: 8 Damage: 1 - I rolled with disadvantage due to the underbrush, was just assuming - let me know if that's not correct).

sorry, I was referring to the rules that already exist, from the PHB:
unconscious
Unconscious
An unconscious creature is incapacitated, can't move or speak, and is unaware of its surroundings.
The creature drops whatever it's holding and falls prone.
The creature automatically fails Strength and Dexterity saving throws.
Attack rolls against the creature have advantage.
Any attack that hits the creature is a critical hit if the attacker is within 5 feet of the creature.
The toads were unconscious when they were asleep, but they woke up as combat began, regaining consciousness.
I’ll repeat, though, that I don’t think this is the place for a discussion of rules.
I hope that’s acceptable to everyone.
Anakis hurls an Acid Splash at the sound coming from the far toad. (Dex Save DC 13 or 2 acid damage)
(Ah damn, I cant believe I missed that.)
