Toc Con save : 16
Toc stands up, though also looks ashen from the poison. He glances around, as the Thorne makes a ruckus, Toc looks at people's eyes, trying to look for someone who is either not surprised, or avoiding eye contact....some insight into who might have done this. 16
Naroth swears under his breath and looks at this employer, whispering, "What do you want me to do? Who is in charge of this caravan? I might be wrong but I doubt it, but those cultist wagons need to be dealt with. The halfling was murdered while sleeping in this supposed "safe" caravan and now it appears the new wizard has been poisoned, not to mention I was also murdered which could have then led to your death as well. Those cultist wagons need to be dealt with and dealt with now. We need to either kick them out of the caravan or we can deal with them tonight. I can get together with the rest of the guards and we can handle them." Pleading, "What do you want me to do?"
Naroth "What proof do you have that these supposed cultists have anything to do with what happened last night or just now?" Naroth's employer asks with a frown. "If you have proof, I will gladly go to the caravan master with you, and we can take it up with them. Without proof though, you are speaking against people who have paid good money to be in this caravan. The caravan master is not going to take any sort of move against anyone without proof."
Toc You see concerned people coming towards your camp fire, but no one looking as if this were expected. Your instincts tell you that, whoever it was that did this, is likely out of sight now, so as to have no link to the work.
Ulric
Now would be a good time for a healer to show up, as Harvin is not doing so well. he is unconscious and 6 is his first death save...
"OK let me say it this way. As a merchant you have all paid the same price to be in this caravan correct? If that is correct I am under the understanding that the entire caravan will rally a defense to any wagon that is attacked. Do you think those wagons owned by the cultists will come to your aid if we are attacked? Is it fair that you paid the same price as they did but yet will not be held accountable for their actions? Especially witnessing everything that has gone on? What about the fight those cultists picked with that other guard the other day, for no reason what so ever?" Naroth asks him.
Toc sits down and writes a full list of everyone in the caravan. He then puts X's next to everyone who showed interest / responded to the poisoning. With his new list, he looks at the list of names who weren't around, trying to figure out how many potential people he's looking at having to watch / show interest in. He shares this all with the group via mental messages, "So, what if we did something where we, on the sly, did something to test people's reactions. The assassin is going to be very soft footed, always alert, and will have to have a 'show'. The question is how to get him to reveal it."

"But why?" Taviel simply did not understand it. "The halfling showed some interest in the treasure - so did many other people! And attack on Naroth? What was that about? Now you? It's not a robbery, just random killing. Also, the assassin did not return to finish the job. If this is the same one, it would not try to kill you second time either. If we are trying to find next victim, you four can be excluded?"
All of that was just random thoughts said out loud (so to speak - all was done through messages, not yelling, of course).
(I did give you a short list of individuals that had been by the camp fire, in the spoiler in my previous post. Toc didn't see anyone put the poison into the pot, since he doesn't have a passive perception of 26. But he would likely know who was all within range of that pot in the timetable where a poison could be added. Those are the names I included in that spoiler.)
(OOC #2: The guards that attacked Ulric before, were not part of the guards of any wagon. They were/are individuals who seem to be just traveling with the caravan. They were unaffiliated with each other to start, but their actions against Ulric would let you know that they have some connection, and likely are connected to the 3 cult wagons. It would only be your feelings there, as you have no proof.)
Germain sees Ulric and the others moving towards the commotion, and decides they have a handle on things, staying with his employer. Responding to messages, "We need find a way to stop these incidents, at the same time, don't forget our mission. We must find where the cultists are headed."
Toc thinks about each of the four people who came to the fire that evening. His mind flips through some logic for a few moments before stating, "We'll get to the bottom of this." He casts invisibility on himself, vanishing, and goes to look for each of the four of them, trying to see what they're doing right now. He sends his rat scampering around the camp looking for the four of them as well.

Beyd Sechepol - is at his wagon, offering half-priced drinks to people as he tries to keep spirits up. Edhelri Lewel - is also at her wagon. She is looking over the tack and gear, her guards keeping their distance from her, as they know she is more apt to snap at them than be glad of their help with the gear. Green Imsa - is near Beyd's wagon, having a drink. Lai Angesstun - sits near his own wagon, his guards on alert.
After the hubbub of the attempted poisoning settles down, a horn blows, drawing everyone's attention to the central fire of the caravan. It is a summons for a meeting, and everyone moves in that direction. A few guards are left behind to watch over wagons, with the merchants, and the rest of the guards, as well as all travelers, moving to the central fire.
Standing there, waiting, is the caravan master. Loren Greenhill is a weathered human woman in her mid thirties. She has a scattering of gray hair amongst the black, and her gray eyes are intense as they look over the assembled travelers and guards. She does not speak, waiting as the last stragglers file in around the campfire.
"I trust those merchants who left guards behind will make sure this discussion is brought to their attention as soon as we are finished here." Loren says as it seems no more people are coming. She waits a couple moments longer, then nods her head, it appears all who are coming are present. "There has been some bad business happening here, and it ends now." She scans every face and meets evry eye as she makes her declaration. "The business at the hostel could not, conclusively, be placed on the heads of anyone on this caravan, as we were not the only ones at that hostel. The business with Longnose, Ulric, and now with Master Thorne and his apprentice, are ones that can only have been done from within the caravan." She pauses as she paces along the groun before the assembled group. "I am telling you all, here and now, if anything else happens, any nighttime assassination attempts, any more poisonings, anything whatsoever, I will pull this caravan off of the road and spend however many days it requires to get to the bottom of this. This will mean completely searching each and every wagon." She lets this settle in for a long moment. "I don't know who is doing this, though fingers have been pointed at a good many people, and I have to assume there is a concerted effort being made to cloud the issue even further. What I can say is that this will stop here. Whatever your personal agendas are, whatever issues you have with each other, whatever is behind this, you will stop. You can do whatever you wish with and to each other once we are in Waterdeep. Until then, I will have peace in my caravan."
Protests rise from many of the merchants. Lai Angesstun is quite vocal... "This is all meant to ruin me." The gold dwarf calls out. "Mark my words, someone else will be killed, and it is all to keep me from getting my merchandise to Waterdeep." Most people ignore the dwarf, though he gets some nods as well, as some of the merchants seem to view his opinion as relevant to their own wares, but none are foolish enough to speak the thought out loud.
With much grumbling the merchants, guards, and travelers make their way back to their own camp fires, much talking being done about the ultimatum. The majority of the remarks seem to think it a valid and smart move by the caravan master, though some grumble that they should just head off on their own, and leave the caravan. The latter is clearly all bluster though, as no move is made to do so.
Those you believe to be the cultists were present, though guards were left with the wagons, which was also done for some of the wagons not thought to be cultists, so it is not out of line for what others were doing. Germain would not get any read on them whatsoever though.
Taviel just shrugged. She left her subordinates to watch over their wagon while herself checking what this commotion was about. She personally did not care about any checkups - all important stuff was with Nodwick anyway and he was far enough from here. So, she would not mind an investigation, though... If the messages were still up, she would share her thoughts with others. "Does not make sense for the cultist to do anything to attract attention to themselves, since it's not only their caravan. Looks like our assassin is from another group and that group's goal is to stop caravan at any cost."
Naroth nods his approval and smiles at the words from Greenhill and after the meeting he will report top his merchant, "With the statement form Greenhill, how do you want to proceed?"
After talking with the merchant Naroth will find a quiet location where no one else is around and then talk to Thezzela, "How are you doing friend, still enjoying yourself? I am happy you are still around and would be honored you continue to stay. Is there anything you need of me or is there anything you want? I do also have a favor to ask if you are so willing. When I go to sleep at night, can you stay awake and keep an eye on me and the wagon I am watching, and if you sense anything amiss nip me on the ear to wake me up? By all means feel no pressure to do this but I would be very grateful."
Toc, invisible, moves closer to Edhelri Lewel, attempting to get a good look at what sort of equipment she has....get a look at any weapons she wears, if they could potentially be the weapons used to kill the halfling....and glance for any sign of poison, flasks, poison making gear, or anything like that. He also watches her movements, and 'way' about her when she thinks she's alone, to see if she moves like an assassin would move: alert, soft footed, precise movements, good physical awareness, etc.

"There, that should steady you lad."
