You are the Naf (nahf) crop, a group of initiates in the city of Naktamun preparing to face the Trials of the Five gods.
I will be running this adventure with about 6 people, using the Plane Shift: Amonkhet rules. Your character will start on 5th level, with 3d6 gp converted into any number of sp and cp, and any magic weapon, wand, staff, or rod of rare quality or lower. I would like you all to use the initiate background, and any race in the rules. UA subclasses are available. I suggest reading the plane shift before creating your character. PM me or just post here if you'd like to join. We will be rolling for hit points, but if you get below average, you get the average, plus your constitution modifier. If there is anything I forget, I will post it as soon as I can. If you have any questions, either post on here or PM me.
I am hoping to make this a somewhat challenging adventure. Your party will probably consist of mostly fighters, wizards, sorcerers, clerics, and maybe monks, rangers, or paladins. If two of you want to be khenra, you guys should probably be twins, as Khenra on Amonkhet are often twins. If only one person wants to, I can make the twin an NPC.
Personality trait: I’m so focused on the glorious afterlife that nothing in this life can shake my calm resolve. (Except an archery contest, apparently.)
Ideal: Redemption. I will train all the harder to make up for the doubt I entertained when I was younger.
Bond: One of my crop-mates, Anputeleptuf, (backup character, hawk-headed aven monk) is my dearest friend, and I hope we will face each other in the final trial.
Flaw: I’m not at all sure I’ll be able to grant a glorified death to any of my crop-mates.
Features: Hawkeyed; Trials of the Five Gods; Fighting Style (Archery); Second Wind; Action Surge; Improved Critical; Extra Attack
Equipment: Studded leather armor; a longbow, +2; 20 arrows; a dungeoneer’s pack; and a pouch containing -13 gp, plus however much you let me get for the spare two martial weapons and two handaxes.
Armor Class: 16
Attack: Longbow: +11 to hit, range 600 ft., 1d8+6 magical piercing damage
The gold roll is 3d6+the cost of leather armor+my starting gold-the cost of studded leather. I put a + instead of a - the first time. The original 3d6 roll was 7.
This sounds awesome, but it would be my first play-by-post game (not first 5e game though) so I'm not really sure what to expect. I'm happy to fill any party role gaps, as i don't have a specific character in mind yet. A few questions though: Will the trials be mostly combat? How often are you expecting people to be online/active?
You're in! To answer your questions, I don't really care how often you are online, just try your best to post at least one or two times a day. LMK if you will be gone for a long period of time. Three of the five trials will be mostly combat oriented, the other two are different.
Sure! Actually, I'll have everyone create two characters, so the chances are higher you can play longer.
Also, a bit of info about the trials, so you are prepared (your characters do know this):
Solidarity: Protect an obelisk from enemies, while retrieving a massive arrow
Knowledge: Navigate a maze filled with traps, illusory horrors to play on the fears of an initiate, where your physical prowess is dampened.
Strength: Your spellcasting abilities are gone. You must traverse a dangerous jungle to collect a scale from a basilisk.
Ambition: Ten members enter the trial, where you are forced to sacrifice your lives, until one of you remains.
Zeal: Surviving members of the trial of ambition will fight to the death, and the worthy dead will be carried to the afterlife to join the God-Pharaoh as an eternal.
Anputeleptuf fears undead, death, and war. He's mostly trained himself not to flinch at the sight of "tame" mummies. I put "tame" in quotes because he doesn't quite believe it.
Hello, and welcome to Amonkhet!

Sounds like fun, I'll probably play as a human monk.
"The hero sought to save the world.
"If I keep trying, I'll be able to win," the hero thought.
But the harder the hero fought, the further the world seemed to tumble away.
Drowning in doubt, the hero could not even save themselves.
Hero, if you still believe in a brighter future, hold in your heart a thorn that can pierce all doubt."

BTW, you don't need to post a character sheet or anything yet. Just let me know you're joining and I'll let you in!
I'll have a hawk-headed aven fighter sometime today or possibly tomorrow.

OK, sounds good, you're in!
Edit: If we get one or two more players, I'll start the story thread and we can do a bit of social interaction, RP, and training.
Here's Mesu, human monk.

I'd like to join with Ssra, the Naga Warlock of Fiend patron and Blade pact.

One trial, the Trial of knowledge is full of puzzles and stuff. The second is kind of like you're exploring. The other three, you will fight alot.

Also, note for the future: I can take up to ten characters in this adventure. I will be recruiting until tomorrow at about 12:00, mountain time zone.
For each open slot, I will add an NPC.
Can I have two characters?

I'll be making a kherna something, does someone want to be mine's twin?
Edit: I will be playing Ta-Kara a cleric of the zeal domain.

Also, I would like you to list at least one thing that your character fears most (the more, the merrier!) for purposes in one of the trials.
Mesu fears death, although he never shows it. What he desperately wants in life is to prove himself worthy to Hazoret.
Ta-Kara, like most Kherna, she fears the loss of her twin.

Kan-ra fears failure. He wants to die.
