Bernard stair at the collapsed room and then up the steps. "Well, no going back now but up is the right direction right? And it being a pyramid, up means less rooms to explore."
Ramious looks back at the room, then scratches his head again, "We're all in silent agreement that this places makes no sense right? A long deserted place full of undead that have been idle for years, and we had to fight our way through strange rooms to get there, but there's a bunch o' monkeys in a room with a big snake, and the room just happens to cave in as we pass through."
He glances around at the group and their flat expressions, none of them giving him a single hint at what they're thinking. At least...from his perspective.
"Right right, sorry, stupid question, I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation. Yes, let's head up the stairs, anyone else want to take point for a while? Alyssa, I don't like it, but I know you like to lead sometimes."
If no one wants to lead, Ramious takes point, otherwise he falls in to 3rd spot behind Leon.

In response Bernard puts an hand on his shoulder and simply says, "When one does not understand the going ones of some long forgotten temple, the solution is simple. All that defies logic must be magic." He gives a little laugh and says. "I'll take point." He slides his bow back into the magic quiver and draws his shortsword and a dart. He slowly makes his way up the steps trying to check for traps.
Who can understand the logic of the ancient builders of this place? It is hard enough to understand your parents, how would one expect to get the mindset of someone, who lived generations ago and in a secluded place with the most strange traditions to this very day? But at least the thought was somewhat entertaining for Ramious to ponder upon, while Bernard was leading the charge.
The stairs looked pretty ordinary up untill the middle of the staircase, where ranger's trained eye noticed ... Actually, he was not sure what it is - the lines, very blurry and almost invisible, and coveting quite a part of the stairs up ahead. There is a shape in it, at least lines do not look completely chaotic, but Bernard can not say what it is (if anything).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ramious, now taking up the rear, doesn't try to hard to peer past everyone. Instead, while they wait, he takes a seat, pulls out some beef jerky, and watches the hallway behind them.
Bernard points out the odd area. "This area seems odd and honestly, if you're going to put a trap someplace, a stairwell that limits mobility seems a good spot. Maybe it will go off of we touch it or maybe if we pass it? I'm not sure... if we still have those pitons, we could try hammering some in the wall to help us step over this area. Thoughts?"
Alyssa would brush off her shoulder after giving it a bit of a massage. The path ahead did appear to be straightforward. There really wasn’t much for her to comment on. Her brow would quirk when Ramious would single her out to go ahead after admitting he didn’t like it anyways. What was the point then? Was she not doing enough? Did he pity her? Was she supposed to be the one to trigger the trap? Why change of mind now? The elf would rub her forehead and drop the thought. Falling in line wherever they preferred her, Alyssa would pull out her journal and make some updates to her notes. While Leon completed his ritual, she figured she may as well refresh her comprehend languages just in case.
Alyssa would reach into her pack. “Rami could probably just throw us over...” She’d half joke, pulling out some pitons and supplies to hand over to Bernard.
Bernard looks at Alyssa and back at Ramious. She may have been joking but he hesitates when she hands the pitons over. "You joke but thats not a bad idea. We would have to consider the impact made from the landing verses the impact caused by driving the pitons in..."
Ramious, chewing on a piece of dried jerky looks up the stairs, "Thats a terrible idea. I'm strong, but throwing a person....even a lightweight like Alyssa is only going to go a few feet. Use the pitons."
He walks down the stairs and steps to one side so that if anything comes down the stairs he's not immediately struck.
"The rest of us should clear the steps, just in case."
It probably would not be a (too) big problem to hammer a piton into the wall (aside from potentially unstable ceiling), but the lines covered stretch of the stairs is about 10ft long and stairs are 10ft wide. That would be quite a task to make that pitons (btw, how many do you still have?) ladder across.
"Hmm... I don't know if we're going to be able to span this 10 foot gap but we can give it a try." Bernard says and he takes his time trying to place pitons into the wall for both foot holds and hand holds.
Not sure if anything needs to be rolled here but here is a athletics check for trying to cross when done.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Let's pretend this is anatomically possible for a human being to cover the solid stone wall with pitons while clinging to the said wall in the same time (enough rope, help from others, suspense of disbelief...). Doing so would take at least 1 minute per piton, and one piton is needed per 3 feet of distance. And yes, Athletic DC of that wall would be higher.
Like a giant fly (and not without the help of little fey-flies too) Bernard was slowly building the ladder across suspicious fragment of the stairs, expertly spotting the smallest cracks that would allow to hammer the pitons with as little noise as possible (because at every "clang" some sand and grit was pouring from the ceiling). In the middle of the crossing, though, one piton fell and trying to catch it before the peg touches the lines, Bernard lost his balance, his foot slipped and he landed both feet on the markings. For a moment everything was as quiet as before, then you all could hear a grating sound, some rumbling as if stones were rolling on the also stone floor - and at the top of the stairs appeared a stone statue of a dragon. It stopped before rolling over, then opened its mouth and breathed a gust of steam covering the stair few feet past the beginning of the lines.
(Bernard - make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, taking 10 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.)
The steam did not reach the end of the stairs, and everyone waiting there did not get the steam bath. There was no immediate second breath either, but the steps touched by hot vapor now looked wet and slippery.
It is possible to go around the dragon, but not to avoid the steam when it is out. Also, while climbing the wet stairs now you must succeed on a DC 10 Dexterity (Acrobatics) check or fall prone.

Ramious grins, "Steam bath time everyone, if you want to try and get some shelter from me, feel free to stay close...." He unfurls his wings like a barrier and moves up the hallway, hoping to protect those behind him from as much steam as possible as he tries to move up the stairs.

Guess that’s our queue... Alyssa would inhale a breath in preparation. Knowing her achy muscles could seize at any moment, she’d focus on each step she took in hopes she doesn’t misstep and slip.
My fault for not reading everything, sorry.

Leon has the group pause, and let him cast detect magic as a ritual.
Ten minutes on the cold stairs gave more time for pondering but finally Leon declared the lines to be magical, shining with Abjuration aura.
