Listening to Alyssa he adds in, "I say we error on 2 and 3 days meaning 5. Mostly cause its the safer bet and I don't think we have rations for that long. And I'm not gonna eat anything thats provided here."
The door, that Ramious pushed so carelessly, opened up easily into the another straight and empty corridor ending at the single bronze door with a decoration, depicting a strange two-headed snake. Decoration did look like an innocent picture and impression did not change after the most careful examination. Once opened, the door revealed an enormous thirty feet tall chamber with mighty buttressing and a vaulted ceiling. Parts of the ceiling and walls have collapsed covering the floor with raw earth and big rocks. Crushed beneath a fallen block in the center of the room are humanoid remains. Elsewhere around the floor are the chewed and decayed corpses of baboons. Above, on the tall pile of rocks, can be seen four still alive baboons. They jump and scream in agitation, and as they do, dirt begins to slide down the banks and rocks in the walls shift slightly.
Bernard took a deep breath and touched the ring on his hand. Spending energy from it, he could all of a sudden understand Baboon speak. Looking up at them he yells out, "Hey! We want to pass, can you not drop stuff on us?"
"Unless you can truly remove the curse from him, I do not see what choice we have." Leon says to Alysa as he gets to his feet. He nods after Ramious. "Keeping moving seems to be our only real option right now."
To understand baboons or even to talk to them is one thing - to calm them down is something very different (Animal handling DC17 with advantage for the ring). Smart, aggressively protective and easily agitated they were already too excited, appearance of four big humanoids only added to it. But one thing was clear - "snake!" All other sounds meant danger and after Bernard mentioned "stuff", they begun to throw rocks at the central pile of rubble, repeating "snake".
Actually, that was not the only clear thing - you spent enough time in this dungeon to understand another danger that was present all along but only here became so obvious, a cave in. Every time another baboon made particular loud cry, the ceiling echoed with cracking sound. You have a feeling, that any loud noise (such as an explosion, shouting, or fighting) could cause a cave-in.
After one especially precise hit of a rock, a loud hiss came from the pile and rubble begun to move.
Ramious glances at Bernard who has suddenly taken to speaking in strange hoots and hollars at the monkeys. He glances back at Leon with a grin, "Who knew? He speaks monkey." He considers Bernards comments to the group. "Oh. Well...that sounds great. How long have these monkeys been in this room with these caving in walls and a snake do you think?" He shakes his head, but waits to see what happens from Bernards chat.

What's the difference between a Wizard and a Sorcerer? Class.
Bernard definitely "spoke monkey": right posture, right well timed gestures, a few correct "words" - and baboons not only calmed down but now looked up to the ranger as if accepting him as a leader. Big teeth were hidden again, rocks stopped falling, baboons sat calmly on their bums, watching Bernard's moves and listening orders. Big leader wants them to go down and away? There is snake under those rocks. Big snake! Angry snake! (Hissing indeed was getting louder) But they obeyed and carefully got down and went through the door one by one, keeping as far away from the central pile of the rocks as possible.
The snake did not rush on the open but you did not need baboons anymore to understand where it is hiding. Still, the angry inhabitant did not rush out.
"Any reason to go in there?" Leon asks the others. "I mean, room with snake and walls that could fall in on us at any moment... Doesn't seem to be any real reason to go into it..." He looks inside himself, trying to see if there is any other exit, or if it is a dead end.
There is a door on the other side - a double door, to be precise - and it does look as if it leads deeper to the pyramid. Bernard and Ramious, who were already inside, could see another door, that (roughly judging by steps and turns) could be the one connecting that room with the crimson pit with already killed plants in it. The room seems to be the hub for at least two independent pathways.
Can’t even add to five... Brilliant brains alright... Alyssa would just exhale and close her notes. No different than before, there was nothing more she could do. At least they were on the same page, maybe? They could only press forward.
Alyssa would keep off to the side as she observed Bernard step forward to address the animals. It was intriguing considering her Comprehend Languages spell would not be able to translate the primal languages and sounds. So to see Bugs work his magic to communicate with them was fascinating to her, impressive to see a ranger work, never having worked with one before. The scholar would retrieve her notes to record her studies, curious at what Bernard would do next as an alpha of a new pack.
”Could they help us though? If we help them?” She’d blurt out loud. Sort of tilting her head to the side, thinking about Leon’s words earlier, she’d wonder if the snake would be worth considering for a meal alternative.
Bernard gave a nod to Alyssa, turning back to the baboons he points to the double door. "We need go there, you help us, we help you." He had hoped this would work and so far this sounded promising, except for the snake. H thought maybe if the baboons agreed to help they could bypass the room with some carefully placed ropes but he feared the stability of it all.
Bernard's fear was justified - not only baboons where not capable of making knots, but there was truly nothing around you could tie those ropes. And the animals were absolutely terrified! The ranger gave them the way out, and they were going to use it. The idea of getting back past the snake agitated them again raising their manes up and forcing to show teeth again. They did not want to go back and the reason for that just showed itself.
Baboons talked about "a snake". Either the animals did not know how to count, or something was very wrong here - two big snake heads were rising above the rubble. "Go away" understood Bernard the hissing. The creature was an animal not some kind of spirit, and that animal was very angry.

Alyssa would watch the two headed snake begin to rise from the rubble. She shouldn’t have blurted out her questions when she had been leaning more towards Leon’s logical reason not to go through this room. But the moment Ramious dashed to the other side, it really did seem like they were committing to it. The elf would suck air in through her teeth and glance back apologetically to Leon.
