As you look down the narrow alley you see a light shining through the thick fog. The fog is very dense here but dissipates long enough for you to see an older man in long grey robes lying face down on the ground. The light seems to be coming from a lantern attached to a long staff that is propped against the side of the building by the man’s body. The sounds are clearly emanating from the man, and you see him try to prop himself up on his elbows and then fall back to the ground with a moan. You notice that the man seems fit for his advanced age and that his from is slightly bulky. You think he is likely wearing light armor under his robes.
Fil relays what he sees and senses [read spoiler]. He puts a hand on Rick's arm. "It seems like he's hurt, but maybe we should call out to him. What do you think?" Fil continues to survey.
Journey will stand beside Fil and says, “I think caution is in order, but this man could be in trouble. I think we should call out to the man.” He slips out a slip of parchment with a demonic rune upon it and wraps it around a small stone that he collected, casting the light spell upon it. Bright sheds in a 20ft. radius, and 20ft. in dim light. As the spell is cast, the piece of parchment burns up into ash, leaving just the stone in Journey’s hand.
"One of you keep a lookout behind us. I think the robed man is hiding something." I draw my shield and start calling out from the street. "Sir, are you alright? What has happened to you?"
With the illumination of Journey’s spell, the portion of the alley within 20ft of Journey becomes easier to see. You now see that there are some crates and dark alcoves along the sides of the alley way. However, the light does not reach to the old man who is laying about 40 ft into the alley.
As Macawicalls out, the old man mutters a quiet, “Help…” and then goes limp. Just then a dark figure appears beside the old man. The figure seems to grab or stab at the man for a moment, then begins to sprint toward the opposite side of the alley. The fleeing figure is quickly becoming obscured by fog.
[Let’s have everyone choose one quick thing to do in this moment before the figure disappears into the fog. Options include a movement, an action, a skill check , or something else that I approve. If your option involves rolls, go ahead and roll them in your post.]
Journey whips out another sheet of parchment that he quickly tosses up into the air in front of him. It glows with a purple, arcane energy and erupting from the page are purplish, heartless flames that attempt to enshroud any figures within its radius. [Casting the spell Faerie Fire with a range of 60 ft. Spell description:
Each object in a 20-foot cube within range is outlined in blue, green, or violet light (your choice). Any creature in the area when the spell is cast is also outlined in light if it fails a Dexterity saving throw. For the duration, objects and affected creatures shed dim light in a 10-foot radius.
Any attack roll against an affected creature or object has advantage if the attacker can see it, and the affected creature or object can't benefit from being invisible. I’m attempting to catch the fleeing figure in the spell. Spell save DC 14]
Macawo moves toward the man laying on the ground and pulls out a javalin at the ready. If some attacks myself of the group I will throw the javalin at them.
[To keep things moving, we will say that Ourick was too distracted in the moment to have a reaction]
In response to Fil’s spell, the fleeing figure grabs and shakes its head, but continues to run.
Journey’s spell causes a create, a ladder along the west wall, and the staff holding the lantern to glow in a purplish light. The fleeing figure seems to side step at just the right moment and avoids the effect. The old man on the ground also begins to glow.
As Macawi gets 10 ft into the alley, an arrow flies from an unseen source directly at her.
As the action begins, the old man who is 40 ft down the alley leaps to his feet and shouts “We got ‘em now boys! Bring me the gold off their bodies!” The fleeing figure (Thief 1) stops running and turns. He says, “Did I do good boss?” and looks prepared to fight. Thief 1 is 50ft down the alley.
Journey and Ourick spot a human wielding a long bow (Theif 2) on the roof of the building to the west of the alley. The roof is 15 ft above the ground and the human is looking over the edge of an overhang 20 ft down the alley. He says, “Did you see that shot? Right through the neck!”

[Don’t worry about posting your turn in order of initiative. I will compile all the turns into a “result of round 1” after everyone has posted. You can include secondary and tertiary options and conditions on your turns. Here are some examples “I attack Theif 1. Attack Damage…If Theif 1 dies before my turn then…” or “I cast cure wounds on whichever ally has the fewest hit points on my turn”. Let me know if you have any questions.]
I [bonus action] cast Spare the Dying on Macawi. I then [action] cast Toll the Dead (Wis save, DC 14) on the old man: If old man is not missing hit points, Damage: 2 necrotic damage, and if missing hit points, Damage: 11. I search for cover (Perception: 21) and, if any, I move to them. I want to remain at a distance from the enemies.
Journey will cast the spell Magic Stone, which is a bonus action, upon one of the pebbles he picked up earlier. Since the old man appears to be working with the other two figures, he uses the spell to propel the stone forward to strike the old man.
[Since he is glowing, I am assuming he is affected by the faerie fire spell and I have advantage on this attack.]
Magic Stone attack: 26
Magic Stone damage: 7
Journey will then move and kneel down beside Macawi, saying, “We’ll make it through this, I promise.”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Im new at monk and being a burb, let me know if i do anything wrong). Ourick will fly up to the guy up on the roof. I will make an unarmed Talon attack with my action, and another unarmed talon attack as a bonus action.
First Attack: 21 Damage: 7
Second Attack: 13 Damage: 8
Edit: [Bad Burb] [I also want to point out that the first attack of the campaign was an arrow that one shot Dillon xD ]
