Areus nods to Soren. "You may be right Soren, we can handle a few minotaurs, but if they come at us in larger numbers we will need some backup." The Arkoan then addresses Nalke "Lead the way then, we will follow."
In response to Areaus' comment "but if they come at us in larger numbers we will need some backup" Tisto responds "don't worry my friend I'm used to handling large crowds"
Gundak nods and heads out and is soon out of sight around a bend in the canyon.
Nalke leads the way for about another hour until you enter a small canyon that is well protected. Here you find an ideal camping spot and are able to safely spend the night. Nalke explains that it may be difficult to find the main camp of the Felhide. "If we cannot find it, our best plan may be to wait until the ceremony and if the Felhide family still has the artifact to try and take it from them as they try and present it to Mogis. There is always the chance another family has taken it from the Felhide already. The Thouhoov and Bloodhorn families are also present in the plains."
"The Bloodhorn's have no love for the Felhide and may ally with us to stop them. The Thouhoov have no love for the Felhide either but if we are aligned with the Goldust family they will not align with us, but they may not interfere with us in stopping the Felhide either. But they each wish to be the one to gain the favor of Mogis by being the family to present the artifact to him. I have seen the artifact only once. We have no desire to have it or present it. We just want this to be done so the other families can return to their homes and we can continue to tend the flowers and the land here in the Plains of Strife which are our home."
Areus follows Nalke listening carefully to his explanation "I see, we may have to ally with one of those families if we wish to stop the Felhide then." The hoplite stays in silent for a moment before saying "They may not wish to ally with us since we are outsiders, in that case we may have to face them all." He then asks to Nalke "Since you have seen this artifact before, could you describe it to us?"
"That may be a good way to spend your time, seeking allies to help you or at least helping the other families so they don't see you as a threat when the time comes. As for the artifact, it looks to be part of a mask, red in color, and is supposed to be imbued with power. Young Gundak seeks the mask for his family and I do not blame him. The favor of a god is hard to resist, even if that god is Mogis." He answers.
"A fragment of a mask you say?" replies Areus "That may be a problem Nalke" the Akroan looks at the rest of the group as he speaks "Since you are sharing with us this camp and welcomed us in peace, I have to be honest: the Gods sent us in the plains to retrieve a fragment of a mask, I'm afraid that we can not allow neither the Felhide, the Bloodhorn or the Goldlust families to have it."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Soren covers the hilt of his sword with his cloak, discreetly grasping the handle. He carefully gages the reactions of the group, looking for any signs of unrest (Insight: 12). Why did Areus bring that up? It would have been far easier to steal it later, plus now we may lose our only allies.

“I will take responsibility for what I have done. [...] If must fall, I will rise each time a better man.” ― Brandon Sanderson, Oathbringer.
Seeing Soren's obvious discomfort that Areus has been so open, Tisto whispers to him "you know they say that the Gods love an honest man. Me I'm not sure that I've got that much faith in them as I reckon they're as fickle as anybody else. All we can do is keep our eyes open and be on our guard!"
Saya wait's for Nalke's reaction before saying anything.

Nalke ponders for a moment the words of Areus. "It is good that Gundak was sent away, he nor his family would accept these words. But I appreciate your honesty."
You sit around a campfire with Nalke and only one other minotaur, who seems to act as a body guard to Nalke. But you sense no hostility from them. A moment of quiet passes and Nalke sends the other away.
"It is OK Baar. I am safe, see to the others and to dinner. I will talk with the outsiders a while longer. But know I am safe."
The other minotaur nods and steps away.
"I will trust you in this. We, the Mocid family, do not seek this artifact. I have no love for Mogis and his bloodthirsty games, I love the plains and wish to see them bloom. Together with my clan I have already planted dozens of flower fields across Phoberos, and I won’t see them trampled for the amusement of Mogis. There’s more to life than battling and eating, I take joy in planting a barren field and see it gain color over the years. I want to do that for all of Phoberos. Mogis would like us to turn into mindless war machines, so let’s not, just to spite him. The other families seek Mogi's ends, especially the Felcid. But you cannot steal the artifact away as no one can leave the plains until Mogis returns. You can try and see if you can get the artifact now and keep it hidden or wait till Mogis appears and try and take it away from whichever family tries to deliver it to him. Either way, you must be here where Mogis comes."
"Let us just hope that our gods are on our side if we need to face Mogis himself." Says Saya hopefull.

"Are you not going to stay and retrieve the item Gundak?" asks Areus as the minotaur prepares to leave the group
Soren adresses Areus "I think we can handle that. Maybe it would be better if Gundak went to get backup, incase it comes to open warefare."
