"Good question. What of we close the statue's chest. Then it would be the closed chest as well..."

"Maybe, I am not sure, since the warning was backward we have to do the exact opposite." says Areus "Opening the chest, inside that compartment while the statue's chest is still open."

“That’s is what I believe we are to do. I am open to ideas.” Says Saya hesitating in going into the giant’s chest.

"I am too open to other ideas, but doing the opposite of what the statue said backward may be the right choice." says Areus

"If you say so," Callaphe says, "just do it quickly."

Saya says a quick prayer to Keranos, and enters the giant’s chest.

(Can Saya see if she can spot any trap on the chest?)

Saya enters the open compartment in the chest of the statue.  Inside she sees a closed chest.  Inspecting it closely she sees no traps.

"The chest doesn't seem to be trapped. Open it?" Says posits to the group.

"Do it Saya, I do not see any other options. Be prepared for the worse." Areus keeps his gaze on the statue.

"Don't worry I'm with you" Tisto says from his position on her back.  As they enter the creature he looks around for traps, trip wires etc (Perception = 2). "Hey Saya do you realise this looks like it been made through some sort of lost wax casting technique" Tisto mentions completely oblivious to the fact he is supposed to be checking for danger.

"Ok, here I go." Saya says to her back. "Be prepared for anything Tisto." Saya opens the chest.

(LOL. I totally forgot that Tisto is still on Saya's back.)

Saya reaches out to open the chest.  As she does so the lid opens and the chest sprouts pseudopods and attacks!

Tisto turns to Saya "did you hear about the man with a hole in his chest? Apparently the healers are looking into it! Talking about things in chests let's see what we can do about that thing - whatever it is" as he summons the ubiquitous ball of warbling energy (Attack: 9 Damage: 6)

Saya, a bit taken back by the sudden change from chest to creature, stabs with her javelin and scores a hit!

The creauture sends forth a long purple pseudopod that reaches for Saya.

The long Pseudopod is sticky and Saya finds herself stuck to it and is now grappled!
