You make the journey with Yselm back to Jarlmoot. Ice covers seven giant thrones arrayed in a ring atop a snow-covered hill. Scores of black ravens gather overhead. Seated upon the thrones are apparitions of frost giants, one of them much larger than the others. At the moment, they appear to be reminiscing about glorious deeds from the past.
"Look! Reggaryarva: The Jarl of jarls."Yselm says to Vetis in hushed wonder. "It is as Auril predicted. Prove yourself to the Frostmaiden!"
Is the treasure of an ancient frost giant kingdom sufficient recompense for following my orders?
Vetis's eyes narrow, and frost spreads across her skin, forming armor of ice (armor of agathys) around her. The tiefling pulls down her hood, letting the fabric pool around her neck. Her black horns arc above her head, so dark you can make out individual snowflakes falling onto them, and the pale ice crystal-like flecks on her skin glitter in the moonlight. The line of frost down her cheek spreads before your eyes, forming a patch of ice on her cheek the shape of a hand with long, sharp fingernails. Finally, her eyes go from their natural tawny gold to bright, ice blue as she holds up her head and walks into the circle of jarls, her black robes floating around her and her scale mail shimmering with freshly fallen snow. When she speaks, her voice echoes through the circle, carried by a gust of winter wind that's accompanied by the ground itself trembling. "Reggaryarva, Jarl of Jarls. I am Vetis, chosen of Auril, and I challenge your champion." Her breath plumes in the air, and the wind howls around her. She spreads her hands, and icy crystals forming in the air around her frost-gloved fingers, her ice-blue eyes flashing in the moonlight as she stares the Jarl down. "Show me what you bring to bear against the power of winter."
"CHOSEN OF AURIL, I ACCEPT YOUR CHALLENGE. DEFEAT MY CHAMPION THAT I SUMMON AGAINST THE POWER OF WINTER."
Reggaryarva, barely lifting a finger, summons a frost giant skeleton that burst forth from the ground with a horrible crash. It towers over you, cold and menacing, raising it's weapon.
Roll for initiative, those that wish to help Vetis, future Icemaiden.
Sobek is still unsure of exactly what they’re doing, and why, but those are wider questions. In the crucible, he won’t stand aside while one of his pack is in danger...
