Jezun, getting back into his rhythm, cracks a bit of a smile as the blows hit nothing but air. He slows his movements and directly presses forward, bo staff aiming to disable/disarm or knock unconscious.
“Last chance. You don’t have to die. WHERE IS SHE.”
((Never though of this creative use of Bag of Tricks! No more rations!))
((Jezun is being all badass and you all are considering eating my friends! You fiends!! Besides... "The creature vanishes at the next dawn or when it is reduced to 0 hit points." So no boar meat for you!!))
(Nope nope nope. I posit to you that Hit Points apply to the entire creature. I call your attention to Exhibit A. Paraphrasing: If the boar is reduced to 0 hit points, all meaty cuts of it die. Until then, a severed morsel acts on the boar's initiative and has its own action and movement. A butchered portion has AC 12. Any damage a juicy slab takes is subtracted from the boar’s hit points. I argue that if a piece of the boar could have independent HPs then it would be considered a separate creature. See Exhibit B. Ergo, severed pieces must remain until the entire creature is reduced to zero. I recommend carving pieces off then applying healing spells for daily bacon breakfasts, ham lunches and pork dinners.)
Jezun: Three more cracks and another body drops, his kick flashing out and slamming heel first into a chest sending the last one sprawling against the table and onto the floor, the cards on top go flying along with a sprinkling of coppers. The woman left rolls onto her back to face Jezen...tossing the fire poker to one side....she gasps, trying to catch her breath...then growls between gasps...."She's in the basement...."
A sudden flutter catches your attention. A hawk with a blue band across it's wings lands at the stoop of the house just outside, and regards you and the house within.
----------------------------
The wall of force ends. Jezun casts Hypnotic pattern, filling the air with a rainbow hue of dancing lights. 6. When the lights vanish....the Yuan-ti creature stands there in a daze...unmoving. Chen moves forward, and removes Ezhia's weapons belt, unbuckles his bracers, and removes the magical necklace.
"Put those in a bag of holding?" Fianna would suggest, opening hers for them to be dropped in to if Jahren doesn't. (I think Jahren has the other one? Didn't we buy him one in Hillsfar??) "Best to have them totally out of reach of him. Just in case..."
Fianna would also go up to Ezhia, carefully, and gently search him over for any likely spell casting foci or component pouches or the sort. She'll check inside his clothes, inside his sleeves and other more "arcane" hiding spots.
Investigation? Not her strong suit but: 16 But once done she'll use her Animal Handling skills 6 to convince her two newest pets (who shall not be eaten!!) to send guard over the snake-man even as she herself steps back.
((Is Fianna sure her friends are not loyal to Ezhia?))
"Can someone check for the rest of the magic items on him? Just in case." Mirica did not share Fianna's anger towards the snake-eye man here, it was only natural precaution, the man was certainly capable and dragon could land him some particularly strong items to deal with their group. The priest would see to it too that the group did not forget to bind the man.
Jezun swiftly moves forward, grabs her wrist in a simple hold and helps her up to standing and places her arm behind her in a resolute full pin. He glances at the poker to ensure it’s not hot and combustible. Then he regards the hawk with a cocked head and bemused smile. “Hello.”
Assuming it does not turn into Toc or some rival spy, he will ease it out the front door. Then his attention returns fully to the thug he has pinned.
He starts to walk the remaining thug before him to the basement stairway door. “You should tell me who hired you, when, how, and anything else you think I might consider helpful. We are going downstairs to get her and if nothing bad happens, your night might not be a complete disaster. You could get away with half a disaster! I know you can do it. Now, open the door with your other hand and guide me to her. Traps, alarms, anything else I should know, well, you would rather tell me about them than not.”
The hawk squawks at Jezun as he closes the front door. The woman, taken into the hold easily...smells terrible. She smells like a mixture of week of fish and week old body odour. No matter what caused her to smell this way, it was at least a week ago. Most likely longer! She mutters spiteful responses to him, "Some guy..new in town...eyes like a snake....'is name were Ezhia. Had us 'elp take the lady downstairs...some servant or some nother....and sit on 'er here. Mutt's downstairs....just a kid...he's 'armless." She raises her voice, "MUTT! We comin' downstairs.....don't do nothin..." There is the quiet sound of some thunking. Moving with her to the door, you crack it open and see a wooden staircase leading down to a dirt floor. Boxes and barrels adorn a dusty cobweb filled basement. There, at the bottom lays Lacy, a sac over her head, and hog tied on the floor...she's squirming a bit. As Jezun moves down the stairs with the woman in front he sees a small window, glass long ago smashed open and clear. The boards that once blocked it from the inside lay on a box and on the ground below it. There is no sign of the boy.
“Maybe Mutt’s moved on or found another job? Lacy, you have a friend here and this bad day should be over. You can start to stop worrying. If anyone makes you feel bad I will hit them very hard in the temple.”
Jezun moves quickly to Lacy and unties her, removing the sack and gently helping her to her feet. He keeps an eye on the thug as he does so, a much sterner eye than the one he keeps on Lacy. After he talks he will guide her up the stairs and still maintain the pin on the thug, aiming to get both women back to the warehouse.
”What happened? What do you need? I am new but I am here. Do you want me to kill the rest of your captors? I will if you give the word. Our friends are close. I will bring you back to them. Nothing bad will happen. I am here. When we are more relaxed do you want a brandy or tea?”
Lacy looks more than a little confused by Jezun, though mostly thankful...."How did you find me? Oh...thank you so much for finding me! They were saying I was to be brought to a dragon....which Mr.Toc would not take kindly to.. I told them....but they wouldn't listen."
As Jezun pins the Thug and walks her towards the door, he gets the subtle sense that someone is standing on the other side. He quietly motions for Lacy to stand back and then throws the door open, using the Thug as a shield. Toc is standing at the door. He glances to the Thug, then to Jezun, then Lacy, then back to Jezun and then back to the Thug. Toc narrows his eyes, and then silently weaving his hands a door appears in mid air next to him. He reaches out and opens the door. Within you see a 30 by 30 room with a stone floor and wooden walls and ceiling. "Put her in," he says to Jezun, motioning to the Thug. (assuming Jezun does so) Toc nods and the door vanishes. He looks to Lacy, "I'm very sorry Lacy. I should have foreseen this, and should have seen to your safety. It won't happen again. Come, the safest place for you is with us at the moment, while I decide what to do." Turning to Jezun he nods, "Lets return to the warehouse."
---------------------------
With Chen firmly holding Ezhia, in his magically induced stupor, Jahren receives a message from Toc, "Jezun and I have Lacy. She is ok. We are coming back to the warehouse."
A minute has passed and, lacking his only magical items, the necklace and bracers, plus his weapons, and held firmly by Chen, Ezhia begins to shake free of the spells effects.
"Ezhia! Long time no see!!" Fianna all but shouts out, enthusiasm very fake and full of sarcasm. "So how's it going? How're the parental units?? What you been up to, my man? Anything new on the job front?""
Mirica did not plan to interfere with interrogation but temptation was too strong - since both she and Fianna looked "Mirica" at the moment, she just had to add to the confusion and tried to keep the same tone: "We missed you and your lovely family here and when heard you are in a neighborhood, could not resist to drop by. But seems you were leaving already! Where to?"
Jezun complies with Toc, and looks around the house only briefly, checking for anything obvious that was missed in the initial assault. “Were you the hawk?”he asks Toc.
He then helps Toc bring Lacy back to the warehouse, supporting the woman gently. He tries to help her move quietly and stay out of sight as much as possible but knows this might be impossible.
Toc shakes his head, “No no, the hawk is a familiar. Just another set of ears and eyes. Thank you for your help tonight. You’re a good person Jezun and I’m happy to have you with us. Impressive how you took down six thugs without much of a sweat.”

Jahren is less hesitant to interrupt than Mirica, as he knows he has his own set of goals and motivations that others do not share and needs information. He tries not to interrupt Fianna too much, however, and first grabs something for both he and Ezhia to sit on, such as two stools or two small crates. Nodding at Chen to let the man sit, Jahren waits for a break in Fianna's dialog with him to interject. He also does whatever is necessary to ensure he looks like himself, and focuses his magic a bit to ensure his eyes are normal despite the motes circling his head.
"We have yet to have the chance to meet. I am Jahren. I'm hoping you're willing to chat with me, as I find exploring mutually beneficial solutions to situations like this one to be preferable over more bloodshed. Thus may I ask, what is your goal in working with Verdant Cloud; what are you getting out of it?"
The skilled negotiator goes on to try to discern if Ezhia is loyal to any relevant factions here, or is purely for hire to his own ends. He explores what Ezhia really wants and if any mutually beneficial deals could be struck including him even helping the party if the right opportunity presents itself. He also gathers all info he can on important figures from Verdant Cloud and her location to those of her children, important figures within Hillsfar, or Any Adlas or Verdant Cloud links to Fazrian, Larloch, etc. If possible, the bard will prod for all of this information without giving up too much about the party and what they know, guiding Ezhia to bring up specifics first if he can.
