Mirica would join the slow burning of the golem with Toll the Dead for as long as it takes to either destroy it or make sure the spell does not affect the thing.
(OOC: Hmmm, well, based on your post where you laid out the walls, I don't see how you could hit the thing through a 1 inch gap, when the golem is near the center, without maybe sticking a finger through the gap to target it? I dunno, seems a little weird to me is all. Buuuuutt...presuming the angles were just a bit different I can get over myself.)
The golem wanders over to the gap and begins blowing poison out...the acidic acrid gas having no effect on the group. The group responds by blasting the thing with non-fire based attacks. It seems resistant to magic damage in general, so it takes a little while...
Toc unable to assist, sits down on the table next to Chen. With Jezun lounging nearby. They make small talk, Toc asking Chen a bit about the best way to spice up a chicken salad and if he does anything special when pickling beets.
Mirica and Fianna are both sweating as the hardy creature continues to 'blow smoke' once in a while and jab out uselessly.
Eventually, the creature collapses inside its cage, bits of metal, hardened glass, and chunks of seized up gears crumble to the ground.

"There is something ... may be not beautiful but fascinating in that mechanisms,"Mirica suddenly discovered that she liked automatons (not the killing one specifically, but the idea of the intricate design of those things). "It seems properly destroyed now, though. Shall we search for our lovely host now? Before that Warlock made him summon more interesting things?"
((I suppose I could see that. I was looking at your much better made made where the gap was right at a corner instead of on a side... so your fault.)) 😀
“Heya, Toc? What you thinking we do about this big ole tether that the demons were chained to?”Fianna asks, more to get the conversation off good than anything else. She was getting the munchies.
“Before I did what now?? How!s this my fault?” Fianna asked, indignant and stomping one foot! Fi’Finella poked her head out of the backpack and blew a raspberry...
Toc glances over at her, then at the tether. He makes a thoughtful face then hops off the table and approaches it....carefully examining it once more.
"Well. I mean. It certainly seems to be a tether of some sort." He grins up at Fianna. Then he stands and shrugs, "I'm not sure actually. I could try to dispel it if we want to experiment. Though, I'm getting rather short on spells. My guess would be it would suppress it at most, but that might be enough for the demon to be unchained. Now, wether that means it returns to whence it came....or....it's just free to wander around, I'm also not sure. I'd guess the latter. I have no idea how to control it. If you'd like I could also spend some time to identify it and see if that helps...."

Fianna suggests that if Toc can identify ritually that the rest of us could surely spend some time investigating the trinkets and books that are about this room. If the Lich Elf, of whatever that was, returns then the worst is that a ritual is disturbed. If it means perhaps the demon left alive doesn't come a calling that seems a small price? Fianna also suggests that if the thing does return that perhaps we don't draw attention to ourselves? It kind of seemed at first that it might just go about it's business without even noticing us... But totally up for anyone else's ideas.
It's a little hard to talk or even think over the din of the spellcasters destroying the iron golem, but where Chen was a moment ago all hyped for a fight, he now sits calmly and explains to Toc that his favourite addition to chicken salad is a mild cheese or even some yoghurt, and that he tends to boil his beets for half the time before pickling but adds extra cloves for a slightly firmer pickle with more kick.
Once the noise and tumult dies, Chen offers to watch the corridors while the more educated folk investigate the room, asking Fianna if her familiar can make a quick sweep through the halls as far as the doors will allow.

Toc begins his ritual. Fianna sends her Fi'Finella scouting.
The next room is the one Chen had investigated, with mirrored walls making it feel like an infinite expanse. The next door is open to another short hallway, where yet another door is open. Through that door you find another octagonal room with spectral elves emerging from the walls and floor, only to disappear into another surface without saying a word. At times, a tinny dragon’s roar can be heard coming from the ceiling where a dragon has been etched into the stones above. A single pulled thread keyed to illusion magic is in the center of the room, and a number of books sit on shelves. A door on the far side of the room is closed.
Fi'Finella, roll perception as you scout.

Toc finishes his spell a few minutes later. "It's a magical tether used to bind outer planar creatures. It prevents them from departing the plane and extends any controlling magic indefinitely. To unbind or bind something you have to perform a special spell....but I don't know it. The spell could very well be in some of these books here...but would take hours to learn and then more hours to rest and refocus on the spell...."

"What about simply break it? Then we can take the books with us - to prevent it to be cast again. Though, I suspect the spell is in that journal that Warlock is using to communicate with your insane saint." By now, baelnorns lost a lot of Mirica's respect (not that they had much to begin with). "So, if each of this room represents the school of magic and we are in the summoning one - Conjuration? How do you even remember all that stuff! - what nasty surprises should we expect in the next one?"

Jezun offers to help scout around following the familiar from room to room, keen eyes and ears looking and listening for anything hidden or dangerous or interesting.
Jezun follow Fi'Finella and heads off. He moves through the rooms, seeing a weird thread in each room, as well as little devices and lots of books that correspond to each school of magic. As he passes through the illusion room he glances around...his brow furrowing...he thought he saw something....felt a disturbance in the ... air ..... but no, nothing. He moves on.
Fianna opens up some books. The fine elven script is written with a careful steady hand with a flowing archaic writing. This book seems to contain advanced magical theories about conjuration and its potential pairings with other schools of magic when creating magical items.
Toc glances at Mirica, "Well....I am unsure if simply destroying it would unleash the demon and set it free on this world, or return it to it's own. I would hestitate to set such a thing free....I fear something that powerful could go find a place in this world to start corrupting...I'd prefer to follow it's tether back when we're done here, and finish the thing off."
He stands up, "I think I've learned all I can about this without spending a significant amount of time here. I wonder how he has stabilized these tears here....they don't draw us to fix them like the other ones do."

"And do not corrupt magic either, which very nice of them. Shall we check the next room? Fianna, you coming?" In this place Mirica would prefer to stick together, it is bad enough one has to go scout ahead.
Jezun says when he returns, “felt windy in there but more of those things and lots more books. But I don’t get it. There’s a warlock that asks the old elf dude to bring in those scary demons to attack people like us when we try to light a dragon’s crevice on fire. The dragon either is, or is not, friends with the warlock. I haven’t seen any pictures of the dragon here. But, like, what are we doing here?”

"Never trust a warlock," Fianna mutters... Then quickly looks about surprised she said that aloud.
Turning to Jezun, Fianna quickly covers up by saying "We're following the demon's chain. The demons attacked us. We tend to not look kindly at that. We'd like to prevent that from happening again, if possible. As for the dragon, truthfully we're not positive where it even is. Just what Ezhia said, and I find that less than trustworthy... Did he even mention which of the dragons it was?"
While talking, Fianna casually slips a book or five into her Bag of Holding, as well as a couple of the clockwork figures...
"But yes," Fianna says to Mirica. "Lead on..."
As Fianna follows out of the room, she'll reach into her Bag of Tricks and pull out a 1 - Lion...
Yes. It is Verdant Cloud, Chen growls in response to Fianna's question.
Chen has been walking around looking at the room without much purpose, but his mind has been active nonetheless. To no-one in particular he asks: That ballynorn or whatever it is called... Why would it deny summoning the demon if it was responsible? Perhaps another entity roams these chambers. We must be vigilant.

A lion grows up from a small ball of fuzz until it stands amidst the group. It growls, and pads along at Fianna's side.
Fianna notices, on the back inside cover of a book as she pops it in her bag of holding, the words, "Property of Quaryl Tellasarim. If found, return for reward.”
The group makes their way down the short hall into the mirror room....more books...and a room dedicated to enchantment. Through another hallway, and into the room with the ghostly folk moving around, and a thread dedicated to illusion. Toc speaks out each thread and rooms focus as you move. Jezun opens the next door, heads down the hallway and opens another door into a room. Scorch marks cover nearly every available surface here—this place is clearly a testing space or “firing range” for evocation spells. A single pulled thread keyed to evocation magic is in the center of the room, and a number of books lay on shelves, somehow undamaged.
Another door, to another short hallway, leads to another room. The scent of scorched bone permeates this place, and a thick gray fog fills the chamber—anything more than 5 feet away is vanishes into the fog. A single pulled thread keyed to necromancy magic is in the center of the room, and a number of books on shelves.
The next room.....Soft, partially-transfigured stones litter the floor and everything feels like it is made of putty here. A single pulled thread keyed to transmutation magic is in the center of the room, and a number of books on shelves.
You figure you've probably gone around in a complete, circle when you reach the next room, which is the other one to the right that Chen scoped out when he came in.
This room is full of dancing images of people and places all across the world. The images might show live events as they unfold or simply be displaying recorded events, but it is a magnificent sight indeed! A single pulled thread keyed to divination magic is here.
As Jezun looks into the room, he sees a doorway on the right which must lead back to the way in. But he also spots the Baelnorn. He sits in this room, on a bench against the wall, reading a book. He seems not to have noticed you, despite all of you being fairly obvious.
