Mirica did not return a smile but asked in an even and only so slightly sarcastic tone how many words are in the Elvish? And whether or not while Toc reading the big dictionary out loud others should begin to build a permanent settlement?
Fi’Finella is happy to perform this task. It’s one of the safer things she has been recruited for,. Though she didn’t speak Elvish herself, Fianna was able to communicate the words and meanings to her quite easily. Pronouncing them is a wee bit harder...
Enter, welcome, friend, guest, visitor, octogenarian, skunk, warning, safety, random, words, numbers, and, phrases, are, used. Between words and phrases attempted, the imp also tried visualizing different scenes and rooms that might exist, perhaps a scene from the fresco or a replica of it elsewhere...
While they are waiting, Nuzej tells Toc and the others about a spell he found and learned in the library. "It forms atelepathic bond between eight people for about an hour. If I have ten minutes to cast it before we head in, we can speak with each other silently, wherever we go on this plane. I understand I'm new to you, and my manner of being here is a bit unorthodox, so I can understand if some of you may be hesitant. But it may be helpful if we need to be quiet, or if we split up to scout. If any of you are willing, let me know, and I can include you. It only works if you are willing, and I would not try without explicit confirmation."
He'd cast it on whoever wanted to join while they tried to sort out the teleportation key. He's not much of a guesser, and apart from relaying what he found from detecting magic earlier, he is happy to act in a support role here.
He also says, "I can bring one other person through adimension door, which would get us through the demons and the trap, and into the water. Can anyone else do that?"
Mirica had to bite back a snarky comment "right, now in your head too!" - she was really in the bad mood - but mood or not, usefulness - even necessity - of such spell was obvious. She joined the ritual (her presence felt as a small storm cloud in the back of the mind). The cloud dissipated for a moment to let the bright ray of idea to shine through: "I can use plants to move between them. Alone. But may be can take with me someone light, like Fianna."The cloud return afterwords.
“We really just need Tic or myself in to get everyone in,” Gianna says. “If one of us got in and could let everyone else know, the other could create a Demiplane for everyone to climb in. Then the one already inside the lair could create a door to the same Demiplane and let us out.”
Fianna looks to Toc. “We should consider setting one up as just such a transfer point for the future. But even quickly now, with out minds connected via the NotMonk, we should know enough about the plane to access it, don’t you think?”
“Do the trick is really getting the first one of us into the dragons lair...”
"Then one Dimension Door should be enough? Provided the other side of the trap is safe and we even have to do it at all - who knows, in a couple of years we might get through that teleport. I might also prefer if Tic will be the one getting through the traps. Matter of taste, if you wish."
"Well if we go back to the hole in the ground, I could crawl down past the demons and such myself. I can dismiss Fi'Finella and resummon her nearby. If I got up close to the blade trap, I could call her back about thirty feet past the blade trap so she could explore and see if there is more," Fianna explains. "If that's where we want to go, believing it to be a good way to approach the dragon. I still don't trust a thing that Ezhia said and believe whatever route he was suggesting is the most dangerous one possible..."
"Then let's see what comes out of these attempts to activate teleport," a touch more peacefully suggested Mirica looking around for a sun-warmed boulder to sit on while Toc and the Imp searched their vocabulary for the right word.
Chen stands there silently, slowly feeding himself small handfuls of food, watching the conversation taking place, and not understanding a word of it. And how weird is it to see Jezun speaking with a different voice and coming up with such ideas? After a while Chen goes to observe the attempts to activate the portal, but most of the time he sits and connects through the senses of the bear, to be alert for any approaching dangers.

The group makes themselves comfortable as the Toc, Fianna, and Fi'Finella sit near the portal, with Toc reciting elven words, and Fi'Finella repeats them, often needing to repeat them a couple of times to get the pronunciation correct. The sun begins to creep up into the sky. "This boat fresco is stupid," mutters Toc after about half an hour of frustration. "I'm sorry, I can't figure it out." He stands up, dusting off his pants. "Shall we get back to that crevice and try some things then?"

Nuzej nods, and, before they leave, begins to ritually recast telepathic bond if it's been an hour since he cast it before.
He tells the group that he can teleport them out of there if things go terribly wrong, so if that happens, he asks them to get close to him. He also tells Toc, easily loud enough for the group to hear, that he can try to make the dragon slowed, or someone in the party hastened.
"This is an old dragon, or a very old dragon? I assume we should expect spells and a terrifying melee presence, and poison, as well as whatever prepared traps she's prepared in her lair? Do we have a strategy, or are we winging it?"
"If we can not use it, should not we try and destroy it at least? I thought this was the reason to come here - to prevent the dragon from using this circle, one way or another." She looked at the meditating Dragonborn. "Chen, do you think you and the bear can ruffle the tiles a bit?"
Certainly, says Chen lifting his hammer, but it sounded to me like the portal magic was independent from the tiles themselves. It seems a shame to destroy the artwork if it does nothing to serve our purpose, but if there's a chance it prevents the beast from escaping, then I'm willing to do so. It's not like everything else around here isn't smashed already. He waits for a nod of approval before proceeding with the demolition.

Before giving up entirely, does Toc know the name of the Fresco? If it has one... is the name of the ship visible? Is the scene of a location recognizable and that has a name?
Fianna also suggests that Toc would know better but she assumes any magical item can be destroyed somehow, but perhaps not easily. If this fell out of the sky but survived, one suspects the inherent magic is helping protect it. So it may be harder to destroy this than a normal was.. but perhaps we should try anyway.
Or, perhaps a trap of some sort? So that if someone or something did escape this way they would be ensnarled or something? Fianna admits she knows little of how to do such things but has heard of it being done...
Toc waves with some annoyance at the fresco, "Ya ya, I can see enough of the name to see it's called the Wind Runner, or 'Thul Nory'. That didn't work. It's not a specific harbor it's sailing into...seems...an average city, with dark clouds over it...." something seems to stir in his memory. "Actually. Try 'Beris Hobas'...safe harbor." Fi'Finella does, but it does but nothing happens. "There is a famous elven song...a love song...where one lover is promising much to the other...and the other replies by saying that there are many promises in life, but they do not want promises, they just want the other lover. One thing the lover promises, is a harbor in the tempest. Try 'Beris Hobas Ir Belegthul'. A harbor in the tempest."
Mirica was so genuinely surprised that for the first time since that unfortunate morning did not make yet another sarcastic remark but instead quietly exclaimed something resembling "Impressive". She looked at Fianna "Do you get anything from from Fi'Finella yet?"
Chen jumps up with excitement as the imp vanishes. "Aha! Elves and their Mysterious Ways." He looks at the others impatiently, gripping his hammer and tensed for action. "Well, you might have discovered the password, but I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. I'm ready to go down there, With or Without You. Down underground, Where the Streets Have No Name."

Fi'Finella appears in room. It appears to be a cave, though the walls appear to have been sculpted. The stone walls have carvings of leaves and fines across them, but real brambles crawl along the walls and across the ceiling, full of spiky thorns. The cave is about 70 feet across and roughly round. There are some fine examples of elven furniture here, including several couches, two wardrobes, and several small tables....making this room feel like a sitting room. A fifteen foot wide opening leads down some stairs into a larger cave.
There are four drow warriors here, standing like statues against the walls...hand crossbows hanging from belt loops on their sides, curved sharp blades in hilts....their grey elven cloaks blending into the background around them.
Fi'Finella realizes her invisibility spell has been dispelled and she is visible...as the Drow eyes are drawn to her. Hands go to hilts.
The same half-drow warrior in mithral full plate appears before her. He smiles simply, "Welcome to Verdant Cloud's domain."
Mirica did not return a smile but asked in an even and only so slightly sarcastic tone how many words are in the Elvish? And whether or not while Toc reading the big dictionary out loud others should begin to build a permanent settlement?
