((Russel is in dinghy... The whale slowly rises in the air - at least it looks like its slowly rising, but that's just a visual effect due to the size of the creature. Loud clicks raidate from its mouth, loud enough to vibrate the bones of those who hear, but only those with the telepathic link can understand the words...
I could really go for some fresh squid right now.
But with a quick reminder from Nuzej, the sperm whale - the largest toothed predator of the seas - turns and propels itself into the air with its mighty tail, rising ever higher as it makes it way closer to the pirates...
Mirica observed the spectacle from afar now - the deck of their ship - and commented on the movements of the enemy ships from her position. Couatl - should Fianna ask - could do it too, though that would not be any different from what Fianna could see herself.
"Looks like they've noticed the whale. But did not stop. May be they are taking him for a rain cloud?"
Nuzej, after casting polymorph, watching Tic cast fly on the whale, sitting in the darkness of the dinghy, and getting mental updates as to the general progress, raises one palm up toward where he thinks Tic is sitting. He reaches the other arm in a scouting motion, searching for Tic's hand.
Dex: 14
It takes him a try or two but he eventually finds it, and pulls it up into a mirroring position to Nuzej's other hand, and he high-fives him in the darkness.
“This is crazy. This is crazy. This is crazy. This is crazy.” Fianna repeats to herself constantly under her breath as she stands as tall in the dinghy as she dares and watches over everything. She pauses from repeating the refrain to give updates on who is where, distances, and to give a wonderful, yet frightening description of what a giant Soren whale flying looks like from directly beneath it...
“Gods, I hope Chen went potty before the change,” she says over the mind link, then chastens herself for doing so.
Russel is clutching on to the sides of the dinghy. Focusing all of his thoughts in the magical darkness on keeping the delicious food Chen made this morning in his stomach.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
A sailor back on board the ship stares in awe...as two whales and a dingy with four people turns, and heads straight at five pirate ships. He wonders...absently....if that would be a good start to a joke.
As soon as the whale starts lifting into the air towards the ships, you see the other ships react. They're 1000 feet away so too far to hear much, but there's a lot of yelling, and you see sails drop, booms swung, and the ships quickly lose velocity. The lead ship keeps pointed forward as it slows, but the second ship turns, as does one of the trailing ships. Slowly, or maybe fast, the size makes it very hard to judge against the featureless sky....but...the whale lifts up out of the water, still spraying water from its body as it seems to sorta swim up into the air. It's a surreal image, though for some it's soon blocked as darkness encompasses the dingy.
The whale is 150 feet in the air and 350 feet away from the ships after 4 rounds....with the dingy, being dragged by a killer whale keeping pace beneath.....the killer whale moving slower on command so as to ensure the whale dropping and spell range happen at about the same moment.Despite the reduced speed of the killer whale, those in the dingy feel like their boat is practically skipping across the water.
You're all getting closer and closer to the lead ship....the whale is getting higher and higher and into position...but then....the group sees a figure on the front railing of the ship lifting this hands, magic swirling....and the whale and the dingy suddenly start.....dropping?
For Fianna who can see, it's as if a wall of water begins to rise before them..****y...it's the whole ocean...while the rest of the group in the dingy feels the sudden motion of slow motion falling. In only a few seconds the killer whale comes to an abrupt halt. Looking around, it appears as if you've sunken into a giant square trench in the ocean itself. A fish swimming near one of the "walls" suddenly comes plopping out the side and is briefly falling before it hits the water below and is again submerged.
You are in a 100 by 100, by 100 deep space in the center of the ocean, with nothing but water all around you and sky far above.

"Fi'Finella?" Fianna will scowl at her familiar through their link. "Casters going to the front of the ship and... casting? That's the kind of thing you're supposed to warn me about!"
Fianna also drops the darkness immediately upon realizing the ship is falling...
(It's a different person who is casting this spell, from the other person who was casting the water walk spells....and he's not labeled "spell caster" or otherwise obviously a wizard or cleric, and there was a lot of movement on the ships anyway. Fi'Finella warns you someone is casting a spell as they do so, but, being 300 feet out, there's not a lot you can do to stop them. There are only 5 ships. Or are there? PIRATE SUBMARINE!!!! What?)
The darkness drops and everyone in the dingy can now see their situation. Tic looks about, "Well....."
Couatl is lower on the initiative order, but his order was to protect the crew. Hence, if the dinghy is fine - he pulls it up (swimming through the waterwall), if people begin to fall overboard - he will try to scoop them up on his back.

Unsure of what exactly to do, being on the bottom of the ocean floor Russel stands ready to shoot his crossbow.
Not ocean floor. We're still on water, just 100' lower than the waters natural level.
Whale-Chen knows he has to get above one of the ships, so he will continue to fly straight south.
I don't think he can willingly drop either the fly or the polymorph spell though...
How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
(So, he's flying just to the right of the lead ship? He could be "over top" of the lead ship this round if he so desired.)
