Rogram will of course make sure Dorgol and Daniel are settled in, safe, and healthy. He also has the religious carvings (symbols of Chauntea) that were originally in the Sanctuary. He'll return those without needing or wanting any recognition or thanks.
Smoke will sit down outside for a little bit. Pulling out the blond lock of hair from his bag and rubbing his fingers on them to feel the strands. I got close, i will try again. I wont give up.
After watching the townsfolk a bit he looks down at the lock of hair and puts it back in his bag. I know what you would do.Smoke will start to wander through town part of the day chatting with people to see how they are doing and to speak highly of the deeds of his companions and well himself as he cant help keep a lid on his own vanity trying to createg fragments of a reputation all across town and to let the people know they do not stand alone.
He would also make his way to some shops, to see what remains of them and to try and find some items to buy.
Smoke will try to find Leosin and the human monks that took him in to take care of him. When finding him he will speak some words to Leosin. I wont take long. I hope you are doing well. I.. I just wanted to speak on Yevele's behalf. I know she is in service of her order and im not sure if you are from the same order but.. well i just wanted to make sure you knew how brave she was in finding and freeing you. We could not of done it without her. Perhaps you could put in a good word for her in the order. She would not ask this of you herself i think and it would mean a lot to her. Anyway ill let you rest.
That said Smoke will move on browsing for some food before making his way to meet up with the rest of the party.
With everyone gathered he will look around at everyone. I know we are far from finished but we have struck a mighty blow rescuing those prisoners. I knew of a general that made a point of celeb.. no acknowledging each victory. Looking to Yevele.. Leosin is now safe. He quickly turns his attention to Rogram Part of your family is now safe as well. We will find your parents as well. Just like we will find Talis.Smoke adds when looking at Thia. With that said he adds a smile to Thia and pulls out an apple pie. He takes a good smell of it. Just like this town, let us rebuild our strength. He places the pie in the mids of the group and gestures them to dig in.
Expecting Rograms emotions to prevent him from fully agreeing his Smoke's view of things Smoke will sit next to him. Ive always found it very difficult to look to others. My pride, my vanity standing in the way i was told. I was well.. forced to restart in a way. I was lost for a long time but I found strength and guidance in someone else. Someone very important to me.He looks to his bag containing the lock of hair but then takes something out of another and hands Rogram a whetstone. You are like your sword. Eager and ready. But it will need the whetstone from time to time to be at its best. It takes time but will be worth it. The point is, sometimes our journey doesnt go the way we want or had hoped for. But you.. he looks around we are not alone. We will use this time to get ready and do as well as we can when our jouney continues. So eat and resharpen. He will gesture for Rogram to keep the whetstone as a reminder.
Smoke will grab a piece as well eating and feeling proud, a different pride than he normally feels.
Trying to buy:
2x Whetstone (1 cp each) and giving one to Rogram and keeping one myself
1x Dice set (1 sp)
1x Vial (1 gp)
3x Rations (5sp each)
Total cost 1gp, 2 cp, 15 sp when using dndbeyond prices
After the Governor is finished questioning them about the journey to the camp, Yevele will ask the governor "Is there an extra long sword and/or long bow in the armory that I could have? I would be willing to take those in lieu of the financial reward you promised us."
After the governor is finished with them, Yevele will see about purchasing another 10 rations. The monk will also see about purchasing 20 arrows to use with the long bow.
Beyond that, she will visit Leosin to talk with the monk and see how he is doing.
She will also head back down to the mill. In addition to her previous calligraphy inscription, Yevele will paint two murals on the side of the mill. One of the murals will show the defense of the fort, with the dragon flying overhead and Governor Nighthill, Captain Markgruth, and Escobar visible on the parapet. The second mural will show the former captives returning to the village.
OOC I know that Rogram might be able to make her a sword or bow, but, Yevele is not quite aware of his blacksmithing abilities at this point.
OOC: Removed religious carvings from Rogram's inventory and added whetstone.
Added whetstone, dice set, and vial and removed 2 gp, 6 sp and 2 cp from Smoke's inventory. The apple pie will be included in living expenses.
Added 10 days of rations, 20 arrows, longsword and longbow to Yevele's inventory and removed 71 gp.
Each character has received 250 gp from Governor Nighthill as a reward for successfully infiltrating the Cult of the Dragon camp.
Rogram's aunt and uncle, typical of dwarves, seem to have already shaken off the trauma of their imprisonment. "Ye'll find yer da', or I'm a fat gnome," Dorgol reminds Rogram on multiple occasions, remaining upbeat.
The young monk Nesim lavishes praise upon Smoke and Yevele when they come to visit Leosin in the town's inn. The toll that the interrogations took on Leosin, despite the healing he has received, is even more apparent during these visits, as the rescued monk is barely conscious through any conversation. He does manage a brief nod at Smoke's request, and a simple "I must recover," to Yevele.
Nesim makes sure to pull both Smoke and Yevele aside before they leave. "Please return before you depart. While we were bringing him here to the inn he was adamant that he speak with you all before you leave. Leosin is the strongest man I know...I know not what happened in that camp but it must have been brutal to lay him so low. We are hopeful that he will recover soon, however."
The governor chuckles at Yevele's humble request. "I will simply deduct the cost of the weapons from your reward. The value you have provided us is well worth that of a simple pair of weapons," he says before directing Escobert the Red to bring them from the armory.
OOC: Giving some more time for the party to respond to Smoke and have any more inter-party RP before advancing. If all RP is done, just let me know.
Rogram should pick up five more rations. Are there any explosives in town to purchase?
As usual, despite Rogram's general feeling of disappointment, Smoke is able to capture him with his words. He looks at the whetstone, rubbing his thumb against the stone's surface. The half-dwarf gives the tabaxi a sideway glance and nods. "Thank you."
Yevele will approach Escobar when the dwarf is alone. "We ran into one problem at the camp. We couldn't get the lock holding the prisoners in place open. Luckily, Rogram was able to trick a couple guardsmen into helping us. But, we may not get so lucky next time. Do you know of anyone in Greenest who might be willing to sell us a lockpick set?"
After finishing up with Escobar (and, hopefully, his contact), Yevele will catch up with the rest of her companions. "We should probably talk to Leosin again before we head back out to find Rogram's dad, and Thia's friend, Talis. It might be useful to wait until the Governor hears back from Baldur's Gate. Troops from their would increase our chances of success."
OOC: Added 5 days of rations to Rogram's inventory and removed 2 gp and 5 sp. As for explosives, the closest thing in Greenest would probably be alchemist's fire (flask) for 50 gp or a flask of oil for 1 sp that can be combined with flame as per its item description.
Escobert can direct Yevele to someone that could sell thieves' tools for 25 gp.
Characters have each gained the benefits of another long rest.
In the following days, a public proclamation is made by Governor Tarbaw Nighthill. With Escobert the Red, castellan of the keep, by his side, the governor explains the current situation to the gathered townsfolk. After describing the purpose of the siege, he states:
"Everything we have learned about our assailants has been thanks to the courage and daring of four individuals. Many of you saw them throughout the night of the siege, working and fighting tirelessly to defend our town. After keeping the attackers at bay, and rescuing many from Chauntea's sanctuary, these brave men and women risked their lives to infiltrate the enemy's camp and returned with nine captives thought lost.
These are the heroes of whom stories are written and songs are sung. We are fortunate indeed to have had them here when they were needed most. Tonight, be sure to raise a toast: To the Defenders of Greenest!"
When the party visits Leosin in the unnamed inn of Greenest, the monk looks to be on the mend. He speaks with energy and vigor once more, though remains at rest in bed as he thanks you all again and explains:
"After all you've done for me personally, and for the people of Greenest, I hate to ask anything more from you. But the need is great, and I dare to hope that you can aid me one time more. I need you to return to the cultists' camp. I know that the governor has sent for aid, but I fear that we do not have the time for politics and diplomacy. You know your way around the camp now, and I know that you have your own reasons for returning as well. If the cultists are preparing to conduct another raid, or a large body of them marches away, or if anything substantial is carried into or out of that cave in the back of the camp, I need to know. If you have a chance to get into the camp and look around again, that would be the ideal way to spot anything that's changed.
I...just don't recommend letting yourselves get captured," he adds with a wry smile.
Rogram thinks this is a GREAT idea! He's been flip flopping between mopey and angry ever since returning to Greenest, but at Leosin's suggestion of returning to the camp, he brightens. "Of course!" the half-dwarf responds a bit rudely, as it should be Yevele who would get to first respond to her master's request. He looks around at the others like a puppy waiting for someone to throw a ball.
Thia takes a long, slow intake of breath. Well, there has been no sight of Talis here in the village. I suppose it's possible that she's been captured and is held in the camp and I never saw her. And who knows, maybe that cave at the back of the camp will hold a treasure-trove of lost knowledge? Anything is possible I guess. "I will go," she says simply, curling a stay lock of blonde hair over her upswept ear, though she clearly looks anything but keen on the idea of more time spent out in the wilds.
She unconsciously takes an apple out of her replenished store of them and begins to shine it on her leather-clad leg.
Smoke stands proud listening to the governor and looking around at the people. Trying to catch gazes of those folks he spoke to before talking about their deeds. With a somewhat smug little smile he looks at those in the crowd that doubted his words. Its a been a while since he felt this kind of pride. Having the common folk look at him and know of his deeds.
As his eyes move through the crowd he spots some people looking around at the other folks standing with their families. But not all of them are, a few are standing alone. The sadness in them washes away the pride in Smoke. This was no time for pride he told himself as his confidence visible drops. Not long ago he was not so different from the ones standing alone, losing everything you are and know. He continues to listen looking at the governor.
At the inn Smokes initial response is a bit different from his companions. Back? Alone? ..his eyes dart around They could be expecting us, and know what we look like..
Pondering a bit he looks at his companions who have more reason to go so quickly Smoke hesitates but adds Well.. i .. i cant just let you dash off to danger alone.
Smoke looks at his outfit and pats himself down to see if he has everything, Well perhaps we need some more protection. I mean a stray arrow and.. he looks to his leg still remembering how he got shot climbing up the cliff. The wound was still closing up.
Very well we shall go. But ill need to make a stop first.
(in case they are leaving soon Smoke will want to stop by a shop to buy a studded leather armor with the money he received from the governor).
Yevele will listen quietly to the governor, uncomfortable in the spotlight and glad to slip away from the crowd. In Leosin's room, the young woman listens quietly to the other monk and then the comments of her companions. "I've already promised Rogram that I will return and help him rescue his father. But, I think we need to plan this trip out better than our last one. First, we still have two of the guard uniforms, right? Might there be other uniforms here in town from the guards that were killed during the siege? Or can we get two additional sets of uniforms made to match the ones we have?"
OOC Yevele would also like to see about purchasing two hooded cloaks, one a black cloak and the second dark green.
OOC: Sorry for the lengthy delay, I should be back closer to daily updates this week.
Added studded leather to Smoke's inventory and removed 45 gp.
Yevele would not be able to find anything resembling a uniform from any of the possessions collected from the raiders that died during the siege. Very few of the cult's forces were lost, and those that were did not wear a uniform at all (if you'll recall, not many of the cultists that you saw in the camp even did wear uniforms). She can, however, find a black and green cloak to purchase in Greenest for 2 gp apiece.
Leosin closes his eyes in relief. "Thank you. As soon as I am able I will be venturing to Elturel. There are others that I believe need to know about what is happening here in the Greenfields. When you have finished, you can bring your report to me there and I will see you well rewarded. I believe that 150 gold pieces apiece should be feasible; I will have to pull some strings, but this mission is important," he says.
He further explains, "Take your time and learn as much as you can. The cultists have been here for months, and I don't expect them to make any sudden changes in their plans or mode of operation. If for some reason I have moved on before you reach the city, find the paladin Ontharr Frume. Anything you could tell me will be safe with him as well."
Smoke nods Yes information is what we need. If they are preparing for the dragon queen they might even have more dragons than Lennithon on their side. Smoke shivers at the thought.
But they will be on guard so we will need to be extra carefull and approach the camp from another side.
Once Smoke has his new armor he will hestitantly add Alright well i gues im ready to go.
After Leosin completes his talk, Yevele nods and says "We'll do our best to get that information. When we are finished, we'll let either you or Paladin Frume know what we found."
After this visit with Leosin, Yevele is ready to move out.
Before heading out, Yevele will turn to Smoke and say "It might be best if you are the one to wear the guard's outfit. A tabaxi will probably stand out more than either Thia or myself. The mask and other clothes might discuss your features enough."
OOC I think we only have one guard outfit. I just realized Rogram cast a spell to create his outfit.
OOC: Rather than railroad your approach to the camp, I'd like to know how the party would like to approach, assuming nothing happens along the way. What time would you like to arrive at the camp, and where would you like to approach from? Are you outfitting as Yevele suggested, or are there any other ideas?
Smoke will wear the guards outfit and brush up with his disguise kit where needed.
He will want to take the path towards the first camp and see if he can find the kobold bodies of the few they killed there. He looks at his companions Uh.. this might seem strange but it might help explain why we return to the camp.
He will take one of his daggers and remove the head of one of the kobolds, smear some mudd on it and use some cloth to wrap around it. The mudd would be to hide the fact that the kobold died several days ago.
If needed, we could say one of the kobolds tried to desert the cause and we chased them down and brought one back to warn the others. The humans here didnt get along with the kobolds, lets hope its the same in the big camp.
He looks around at the camp remembering the battle that took place here. Just a few days ago.
Should we walk towards the mouth of the camp area, see whats its like from the treeline and walk in?Smoke intends to go towards the camps open area closest to where the kobolds tents/area is. But first try to view it from a distance to see how battle ready the camp has become since their last visit.
"How do you think they get new members?" Rogram asks seemingly out of the blue. He looks at the others. "Everyone looks like regular folk, so it seems they're either picking up people or people are joining them somehow." He blinks. "What if we showed up and said we wanted to join?"
Thia nods in agreement with Rogram's suggestion. "Yes, I think that is simple enough. They had a few non-humans in that army, didn't they? I don't think they are exclusive. My only question is will they recognise us from the defence of the town and the prisoner escape? Perhaps we should all disguise ourselves a bit regardless?"

Should we walk towards the mouth of the camp area, see whats its like from the treeline and walk in? Smoke intends to go towards the camps open area closest to where the kobolds tents/area is.
