Karib clears his throat, "There is also the matter of the prisoner. She should be questioned. Do you have anyone who might be skilled in such things?"
Given time, Karib believed he could manage it, but he would need to prepare and would prefer not to do so. "If not, I suggest you instruct your guards to keep her underground and prevent her from resting, then..." He shrugs. He does not want the job, but her knowledge might prove useful.
At Karib's point, the Governor looks to Escobert the Red. Punching his hands together, the dwarf grins, "Ye know how much work I've had to do 'round here because o' that wench? I'm just waitin' for the word."
Nighthill is more diplomatic. "Criminals of her status are a bit of a unique case. We do not operate a jail in Greenest; most of our issues are settled between the involved parties, and in the rare case of a crime whose nature extends beyond that of Greenest, the matter is handled by the Lords' Alliance. Escobert can question her - carefully - and we will keep her locked up tightly until she can be escorted to Baldur's Gate or Waterdeep, where she will face trial for her crimes."
Karib nods, then turns to Escobert with a faint smile, "I do have one or two abilities that might help: I can compel her to answer a question and require she respond truthfully. But my resources are limited. With a little theatrics, it may loosen her tongue."
He shrugs and turns back to Nighthill, "The choice is of course yours; for it sounds like Leosin may have plans for us already, and the questioning may be unnecessary."
Rogram wonders about the human's interrogation tactics. He had never witnessed such a procedure and was curious about it. Plus, who knows what she might know about the cult's plans for his father. He lifts one shoulder in a semi shrug. "Maybe you should question her," he says to Karib. "She might know something helpful before we head off."
OOC: It will be up to the party here on how you want to spend your time. It sounds like there's some risk/reward here as it will require a few days to get Mondath to the level of exhaustion that Karib wishes - time is always moving and NPCs aren't sitting still, so it's a matter of whether the party wants to hurry to meet with Leosin or give it a few more days to try and glean some information from Mondath, if indeed there is information to be gained there.
(( OOC: Exhaustion is not required; the process could start that day, but the Command spell is just less likely to succeed. Using Bane or a Bard's unsettling words would also help.
Edit: There's also Suggestion...if that bards have it...))
OOC: Rogram won't want to wait around, so if it's a matter of questioning the prisoner later or leaving right away, Rogram will want to leave right away.
"I think we should try to get out of here no later than tomorrow morning. Another days rest should do us good, but I don't think we should delay for too long. How long before word of Mondrath's capture and Cyanwrath's death will reach the cult leaders. I'm sure Leosin will have information for us and the sooner we can act on that information, the sooner we can free any remaining prisoners." Yevele said "If you can get any information out of Mondrath today, that will be helpful. But, I'm sure the Governor's men can also get information out of here that he can forward to us."
Rogram furrows his brow. So many conflicting thoughts are bouncing around in his head. "Yes," he finally agrees, "let's leave in the morning. Early." To delay is to risk running into his uncle. But it would be good to sleep in his own bed tonight. Oh, but his guests! "You can stay at my house again tonight," he says to Smoke and Yevele. "You're welcome, too," he says to Karib. He scowls again as he tries to remember if there's food in the cupboard.
Karib nods, "What I propose is usually done with a team of priests, but I can perhaps ask a question or two before tomorrow," he says.
He pauses, thinking. "Perhaps the most obvious question is 'What are their objectives?' and 'Who does Mndath report to?'. I doubt I'll get much more out of her with such a short time, but...anything else?"
(( OOC: If no other questions are forthcoming, Karib will set up a Zone of Truth, make sure it's affecting the prisoner. Finally he will ask the following questions (without command):
What are their objectives?
Who does Mondath report?
Why did they need the blacksmith so much?
If she refuses to answer, he will re-ask the first question followed by a command to "Answer!". If that works, he will move on to the next (or repeat on the first). He doesn't have a lot of spell slots to use up, so it won't take long! ))
Frulam Mondath has seen better days, but her will shines through the beatings she has taken. Surprisingly, after resisting one casting of zone of truth, she answers a few questions freely despite a weakened voice, albeit with a sly grin on her bruised face:
Where the main army is: "The army is amassing treasure in the north."
Who she reports to: "Rezmir."
Their objectives: "Rezmir spoke often of Tiamat, but that is the extent of my knowledge of the larger plan."
When asked about the blacksmith, she remains quiet. After a command spell is issued from Karib, and then another, the confused answer is wrenched from her. "We are an army! We need many smiths. Too many farmers slain makes a blade go quite dull."
Karib nods and draws a breath, then glances at his companions before asking another question, "And where, precisely, can we find Rezmir and the army?"
A faint smile plays on his lips while he waits for her answer, and if none is forthcoming, then he commands one from her.
((@DM: Karib is down 2x2nd level spells? I don't think he needs to cast twice - walking her in and out of the area should suffice to force her to make a save again, I think. ))
OOC: You're correct Ereshion, Karib wouldn't even need to walk her out of the area and back in, she has to make a saving throw each time she starts a turn in the radius. Thank you for catching that though, I was on airport wifi, I think I clicked it twice because it didn't mark the spell off the first time for me but apparently it actually did.
"North, I told you," Mondath smirks back. Compelled to answer by another of Karib's commands, however, she expounds through gritted teeth, "North somewhere, heading toward the Trade Way. How would I know where they are precisely? I'm not exactly in the loop as your captive."

"I would certainly not deny you the opportunity to question her yourself," Nighthill answers. "I must admit I had assumed you had done so already."

"Perhaps we should ask where the main army is?" Yevele suggests when Karib poses his questions.
Karib smiles and nods, "Aye. Let's make that the second question, shall we?"
