OOC: I believe Rogram and Smoke were looking/listening at the same location, the stairs leading to a larger cavern to the east. That's the way I interpreted it anyway.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Assuming that the others are following behind Rogram.
Rogram Investigation:17
Rogram guides you safely down the small flight of stairs into the immense chamber that opens at the bottom. A wide ledge runs along the left wall, the only wall visible to Karib's light, and drops away to a pit on the right. Many stalactites descend from the ceiling, and the sound of dripping water echoes continuously.
Ahead of you, wooden steps have been built down into the pit. As in the drake nursery, the steps seem to be enclosed in a stout iron cage.
From the ledge, Rogram can just make out the shapes of large eggs, nearly three feet tall, in the darkness below. The cavern extends further into darkness beyond the range of darkvision or Karib's light. Standing along the ledge, Rogram can discern many large, dark stains on the rough floor at the base of the ledge.
Neither Rogram nor Smoke hear or see anything else in the immediate vicinity. The vastness of the cavern seems to amplify the echoes of breezes and dripping water heard elsewhere as well.
Moving to the stairs, Smoke sees that there is indeed a closed gate at the bottom. Next to the tabaxi, along the wall across from the top of the stairs, is a key hanging from a peg.
Rogram makes a face, not happy with hearing nothing below. "Eggs," he replies to both Karib and Smoke. "Two 'bout as big as my Pa. Nothing else." He starts moving again, heading east. "Let's keep moving."
Karib stares down at the eggs, his expression a curious mixture of fear, distaste, and uncertainty.
"I wonder if they are due to hatch soon," he says, peering into the darkness. "Can you see any signs of recently hatched ones?" he asks.
"If they are fresh laid, then I have no issue with ... ah ... breaking them. But...if they are due to hatch soon ... it would be like the killing of infants."
(( @DM: In this world are all chromatic dragons evil purely by nature, or is nurture part of the equation? ))
OOC: As far as the characters are aware, evil creatures are evil. The common perception in the lore of this world would be that all chromatic dragons are evil by nature.
Added the key to Smoke's inventory.
Amidst the discussion, you hear grunts of exertion coming from further into the cavern, to the east. Small orbs come sailing toward you from the darkness, landing in your vicinity and erupting upon impact with the ground. The first two emit a viscous substance like a glue that covers Rogram's legs, restraining the half-dwarf and holding him in place for the next incoming pair of bombs, which explode into flame. The fire is meager but painful as it interacts with the glue-like substance, burning each of you.
Health: Smoke is badly wounded. Karib is lightly wounded. Rogram is lightly wounded. Yevele is lightly wounded.
As the fire burns Smoke he lets out a scream of pain before quickly rushing to the nearest wall to try and get some cover while taking out a dagger.
He looks to the group and sees Rogram is stuck Hurry Rogram, take cover!
Seeing Karib rush forward Smoke grips his dagger firmly waiting on someone to meet Karib on the field.
Movement: Moving to top of map against a wall (the pit with eggs being lower side) Action: Ready dagger throw in case someone comes in range Bonus action: Bardic Inspiration on Rogram
OOC: Giving some more time for Yevele's action (and for Karib to act on the information he sees) before botting and resolving.
For Karib:
At the end of your movement, your light reveals four kobolds huddled in a shallow pit at the end of the chamber, holding these strange makeshift bombs. The pit is deep enough that they can't be seen from any further back.

Rogram moves to the edge and looks down (with his 60 feet of darkvision).

Smoke will stay a bit more towards the wall (at north side) as Rogram watches from the ledge. Looking around ahead to see if any kobolds are around.
If he doesnt spot anyone he will move to the stairs making sure the gate is closed.
Rogram engages his ears, listening for any sounds that might indicate anything other than the eggs below.
As Karib comes forward, he moves cautiously up beside Rogram to peer over the edge. "What do you see lad?"
Neither Rogram nor Smoke hear or see anything else in the immediate vicinity. The vastness of the cavern seems to amplify the echoes of breezes and dripping water heard elsewhere as well.

Smoke will take the key off the peg and move back to the group. The gate is closed he says as he dangles the key in front of him.
Did you see anything inside? he asks Rogram who he saw near the edge
Rogram makes a face, not happy with hearing nothing below. "Eggs," he replies to both Karib and Smoke. "Two 'bout as big as my Pa. Nothing else." He starts moving again, heading east. "Let's keep moving."
Yevele walks up slowly behind them, and says "Eggs, as big as a dwarf. Are those dragon eggs? Do we want to leave the Dragon Cult with dragon eggs?"
Karib stares down at the eggs, his expression a curious mixture of fear, distaste, and uncertainty.

Karib moves forward 30' to see if he can spot the source of the attacks.
Rogram curses in Dwarvish, trying to lift his legs with the hopes of freeing himself.

Yevele will move to the left along the ledge staying about 5 feet back from the edge, keeping an eye out for anything that is moving down there.
Karib laughs, then calls back to his friends, "Four stragglers."
After a brief prayer to Gond he turns to the kobolds, "Your friends have fled to safety, your leaders are dead or captive. I suggest you surrender."
