Tried to run each of these before, and had to drop off due to certain circumstances beyond anyone and everyone's control. So: let's try again, but on Discord!
This will be my first time running a game on Discord, but I think it will work well for these games with it's more natural feeling roleplay and faster pace. Looking for the long haul here, and people that can keep up with multiple posts a day. So choose a campaign and roll up a character (reroll 1s once, or go point buy). I'll be choosing at least 5 characters, possibly 6. Probably be good to keep your background a little broad until we choose a campaign (unless it's a landslide).
Good luck!

Kellen Rivian(Level 12 Lore Bard)- Ghosts of Saltmarsh (cbaer8)
Ruven Gilrel (Level 4 Bladesinger)- The Shattered Obelisk
Feral Tiefling - Bloodhunter (profane soul) - Haunted One
Fought and killed a warlock wielding a nearly invisible glass sword, and picked it up. On taking it with him, a shadowed hag with teeth like iron, began finding him places and talking to him of deals. He’s taken as little as he can, but he’s been tempted often. It’s cost him quite a bit in friends, as they fall to mysterious ailments or disappear under strange charms. He needs to make sure it was all worth it.
Class - Druid (Circle of Stars [if you are cool with UA] or Circle of the Moon at level 2)
Background - Sage
Backstory - Thea has always been mystified by the cosmos and staring at them in a tower in a great elven city was never going to be enough. Knowing that she would never be able experience the stars and the moon in person she quit her job as a researcher, packed up everything she had and decided to travel and experience the world while mapping the cosmos and learning about the importance of astrology in different cultures. She has been taking on jobs in different places to have more reasons to explore and to fund this expedition [This can end with either getting lost in the underdark or Barovia]
*A rather nervy-looking young halfling stands before you, rubbing his hands together in an attempt to self-soothe*
"Ahoy there fellow adventurers!
Let me be introducing myself. Me names Wilfred Cadge, Wilf fer short.
Settle down and lend me your ears fer a minute."
*Wilf audibly clears his throat*
"HARK to a tale of woe! Oh no, that doesn't sound right. HARK to a tale of misfortune, followed by a little luck, and ending with a sprig of OPTIMISM!
There once lived a little halfling lad who... wait, no, ok it's me, I was the little halfling lad. eeh."
*Wilf coughs awkwardly*
"I lived in a small town, quiet place, not much happening and the like. I come from a long line of Cadges, all successful businessmen! In fact you could say that I come from 'business pedigree'! I mean that's what people say!... Well that's what I say, with some frequency I may add, truth be told.
So... anyway I thought to meself, "Wilf, what are you good at? What is it that makes you, you?" y'know? Well, that's an interesting question that one. Y'see I'm pretty good with food - eating it, preparing it, eating it, and the like. So, I thought, it would make sense to embark on a GREAT ADVENTURE of uhhh, CULINARY DELIGHTS! So that's what I done, or that is to say tried to do.
Let me start the next bit of me story by saying that there was no malicious intent on me behalf... How was I to know that those mushrooms were poisonous... I mean if I had of know I wouldn't have served them, right? Anyway, where was I? So I set-up me new business - 'Cadgeburys'. Oh we made all sorts of fine dishes - business was booming! Well at least for the first few hours.
Anyway, our business encountered a brief setback involving mushrooms... which may have caused some folk to have some 'minor' digestive issues. NOTHING UNFIXABLE.... well we did fix things with most of our business funds. Fortunately, it was decided that I was more 'fool' than 'criminal'. So me and me hometown came to a mutual understanding that I would spend a brief amount of time... well away from them. In a uhhh ex-pu... uhh expulsion or m-m-maybe exile of uhhh sorts..."
*Wilf looks uncomfortable when talking about his hometown. His eyes shine with tears he desperately tries to blink away, all the while attempting to maintain his faux-smile. An awkward amount of time passes, punctuated by Wilf's break in mood.*
"Anyway friends! There is no need to end this tale on a negative note! No need at all! For I find meself here, in your fine company. Ready to embark on a new business venture. Ready to grab life by the horns! No that doesn't sound right... I mean not all life has horns. In fact most life doesn't have horns. EITHER way friends it is together that we shall succeed, together we shall restore the name of 'Cadgeburys', together we shall create the worlds most greatest food company, ever! For now we know to steer clear from mushroom-based dishes!"
*Wilf looks around triumphantly hopeful at what the future may bring*
NAME: Grym RACE: Shifter-Longtooth CLASS: Sorcerer-Shadow BACKGROUND: Haunted BACKSTORY: Born under an auspicious moon, the whelp was the pride and joy of his pack. Funny, Strong and keens senses, he was a joy to be with and ran with the hunting packs many times. When he came of age his naming ceremony was set for the night of the new moon, a tradition for his pack. Torpax, the elder, wore the sacred garb and the whelp had completed the rituals and just as the ceremony was to be complete, the vampires came. These blood thirsty beasts hunted Shifters when full lycanthropes could not be found and they torn through the pack with alarming ease. The young whelp was all that remained. Pale faces with lethal smiles advanced on him and he could see his doom. A strong clawed hand grasp him under the chin and lifted him into the air with ease. The whelp came face to face with his killer. Dark eyes penetrated his mind and soul and then the vampires vanished. All that could be heard was their cruel mocking laughter. A darkness enveloped the whelp, its dark touch coming from within rather than outside him. Whether it was the rage, the grief or something the vampires had done he was not sure. All he knew was the darkness was part of him and he could command it's power. Astonished and grieving he buried his pack that night. No longer would he be the cheerful pup he had been. From that night forward he would be Grym.
Name: Orio Rin Race: Half-Elf Class: Cleric (Trickery Domain) Backstory: Orio was never very smart, or aware of his own strength. It got him in trouble a lot and eventually landed him in the fighting pits to pay off a debt. Luckily he was surprisingly good at fighting and managed to stay alive. While in the pits he met Tyrol, the cleric who helped tend to the fighters wounds. Tyrol introduced him to the idea that his luck wasn't luck but rather a blessing from Tymora. From then on Orio prayed to Tymora for luck and she granted it, up to the point where his fights earned so much that he paid off his debts and was freed. Now he roams around, going places as directed by Tymora in his dreams.
Thanks for the submissions so far! I'll keep recruiting open till around 8 am EST, then those selected will get a pm. Looks like we're doing Curse of Strahd! The couple of you that were wanting to do Oota, send me a pm, since I'll probably start that one up relatively soon once this one's up and running.

Ruven Gilrel (Level 4 Bladesinger)- The Shattered Obelisk
Oh, I've been looking for a text-based Curse of Strahd game!
Ability scores: 91413181611
Name: Tender
Race: Tiefling
Class: Way of Mercy Monk, if UA is allowed, Way of the Long Death if not.
Backstory:
Tender grew up in a monastery on the edges of the mist-shrouded Barovia, learning all manner of things - martial arts, healing; even finer arts such as the flute and painting. It was a good life; they were not a secluded monastery, and Tender often found her way out to the nearby towns to trade for goods, often selling her paintings or playing the flute to entertain children, enticing the bolder ones into whirling dances - the Dancing Dragon they often called her, for her dragon-like feet and reptilian tail; the orange scaling that stood out stark against her navy skin. However, it was not an idyll life; there were werewolf attacks, undead rising to take the living with them - Tender learned the way of Mercy on the front lines, as both healer and the person to slip a dagger between the ribs of those who were suffering (or in danger of being turned). It was their duty, after all, to help the people surrounding the monastery, and a duty that Tender took seriously.
Of course, her life changed when wolves climbed the high walls of the monastery and tore her brothers, sisters, and teachers to shreds. The sight of it haunts her to this day, and though she tries not to give in, her infernal blood sings with a deep hatred for werewolves. Their monstrous howling follows her often in her dreams, along with the stench of death and blood-matted fur. As the last one standing from the monastery, Tender left, determined to find some way into the mist-shrouded country from which the monsters came; it was, she thought, the best way to find the person behind the attacks. If she could only do that, then perhaps the nightmares would stop.
Of course, rumors often follow the navy-skinned tiefling: did she really fight off the attackers herself, coming away scarred and alone, but alive; perhaps, even some sort of monster herself? Is it true she put down thirty-nine survivors of the attack, young acolytes who were suffering, on the verge of turning into werewolves? It is difficult to tell, looking at the dancing tiefling with the kind eyes and the bright, sharp-toothed smile.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Name: Rashana, Female
Race/Class: Way of Open Hand Monk Kalashtar
Abilities score: 151515131115
Backstory:
Rashana was born as a Kalashtar which is a bloodline of the family. She was the oldest among the other two siblings, a brother and a sister. During her youth, her parents taught them about the spirit to which they bound. She and her siblings were taught to embrace the spirit and how to understand it. Under her parents guidance and discipline, Rashana grew into a calm, and collective person; though she still knows to let loose of herself from time to time.
When she became 20, she got a demand from the spirit to travel north and find the monastery that resided near the mountainside to prepare herself for the Dreaming Dark. While her siblings each had a different journey. She traveled across the forest and eventually found the monastery. She got accepted to the monastery due to her collective attitude. She was trained under an elven master named Eldryn.
She was a fast learner. After five years of training, she had learned all the martial techniques that her master had to offer. Eldryn thought maybe it was time for her to go out and see the world outside of monastery in order to realize her full potential. Before she left, her master said to her, "Remember, what you've learned is to create peace, not destroy it.", which had become her guideline.
Thank you everyone for your submissions! I'll be sending out pms right after this for the selected players. As always, it's an extremely difficult decision, and if you weren't selected, keep an eye out for when I start Out of the Abyss!

Ability Scores (rolled on discord) - 8, 11, 11, 14, 15, 16
Name - Theanrasi (Thea) Eirsandrol
Race - High Elf
