Robwin, TT, You are initially a bit early to the Miner's Exchange, but TT's manner, the sight and quantity of the geods pursued a warehouse worker to take a message into the building. Ms. Thornton and Tammy, the halfling you greeted the first time you visited are soon out chatting with you and ushering you into the building.
After some discussion, another halfling and human begin opening the geods. Tammy and TT each keeping track of the results.
Robwin, You realize this is going to take a bit and excuse yourself to check on provisions and the livestock and gear at Barthen’s Provisions.
When you arrive at the shop, M'aiq and Sarah have the place going. Sarah is very cold at first to say the least. There is an awkward exchange and a moment she notices Elsa's gift and a few "she's only twenty" and "she's an adult" comments; most being Sarah seemingly arguing with herself.
She does settle. You are able to order the paper and ink you need. Leaving half the cost down as deposit. You're also able to pick up what you and TT might need in provisions. (no armor or arms)
Any conversation between TT and the workers or Ms. Thornton?
Any conversations between Robwin, M'aiq and Sarah?
((OOC: just so I have it correct: Elsa is human, right? And Sarah is a half-elf or a full elf? Thanks! And they have the same father but different mothers? And the parents are elves or humans? lol sorry, I appreciate the help in clarifying ;-) ))
“Aye,” Wolfsong nods. “I understand being a rare sight, and feel free to indulge as much as you wish. As for prey, there was not in the beginning, I was just following the will of the Wilds hunting as I went. It was not until a few tenday ago that I heard of something that peeked my interest.”
“A ways east of here there was a farm where most of the livestock was either killed or stolen. The owner of the farm told me it was a manticore, but he didn't know why one was so far from the mountains, so I took it upon myself to hunt the beast. Found traces of it at Umbrage Hill, but Blaire and some of the others had scared it off while they were traveling through, heard talk its now been spotted in Axeholm recently. Umbrage Hill was actually where I met Blaire and the rest, save for the goblins, also where I came across another target for a hunt, the white dragon that has been seen in the area. We were just setting up camp when the beast came down kill three, nearly killed me, then flew off. I am not one for taking something like that lying down, I plan to hunt it down and send its skull back to my tribe.”
According to Elsa she is 22 y.o. Sarah is 38 y.o. looks 20-ish. Father is human and 57 y.o. He got incredibly lucky is who Elsa says her father explaines the two loves of his life and his lovely daughters.
Endure nods, "That sounds like you have set some good goals. I have heard that white dragons are cunning and savage hunters. Something like a ferral cat but with a firm dislike for all other entities. Be very wary of it. For a manticore, I have heard they are intelligent and can be persuaded to serve one who shows strength and cunning."
Blaire has returned. "I heard tell the same of manticore. This one has a mate. Speaks common to some degree. Not sure I would have engaged it in discussion. That was Ikki. Probably saved our lives."
"Oh, um, speaking of, well we need to hunt this morning but we have salvaged a good bit of hide armor. Was wondering if any of it could be worked into a decent suit for Glufs, Gralk's mother and maybe some bracers for some of our friends.", Blaire asks sounding a bit awkward as she finishes.
"Well, drop by after your hunt. Best time for deer is now before full dawn. Wolfsong, It's a pleasure speaking with you. Blaire, I look forward to seeing you later this morning." And in goblin Endure says, "Be well, little one."
Robwin responds to Sarah. He’s a bit awkward and taken aback at first but he manages to say, “Your sister is a beautiful and kind woman. And you honour her greatly by being so protective...”.
When he sees she’s cooling off a little, he’ll say, “You know, my sister would say the very same things to her, if she were here!”. He continues with a chuckle saying, “She’d say that I’M the child, and ELSA is the full grown one!”. He looks wistfully around the shop and back at Sarah.
“In a way, the three of us are about the same age!... In a way... I get it, a couple of years ago, she would have been the baby, but she’s catching us both up... She’ll overtake us soon”, he looks melancholy, but smiles.
When discussions move on to business, and his supplies, Robwin will ask Sarah, “How often can you get supplies from Leilon?... ..And how long will it take to receive the order here? Days, weeks?”.
If it only takes a few days, and they can place regular orders, he’ll ask for 50gp worth of fine inks and paper for scribing spells, and two castings worth (around 20gp) of incense and herbs for the find familiar spell.
If it takes more than a few days, then he’ll order the same incense and herbs but twice as much paper and ink.
He’ll hand over half now, as requested, from his personal gold (35gp or 60gp depending).
As he hands it over he says, “I don’t suppose there might be a large- or regular- order discount?” Then he winces a bit with a cheeky smile at what he’s about to say, “Or a discount for friends and family?!.... I’m joking!”, he says quickly, but the question is still in his eyes as he looks, shyly, at Sarah...
On the way back to the Miners Exchange to meet up with TT, Robwin remembers something and nips into Lionshield Coaster, to ask about something.
He wants to ask if they’ve got (or could make) a little brass brazier for burning incense and herbs for the find familiar spell. He casts minor illusion to show them exactly the kind he used to use when he was at college.
When he’s done there, he’ll head back to meet TT.
((OOC: Sorry for the shopping episode folks!! Sometimes wizards need supplies! Lol))
Sarah somewhat grudgingly admits you have a fair point regarding the three of you and seems pleased at the references to your own family. Regarding shipments and orders, "Well Mr. Barthen can send a messenger for supplies which takes about a day to get there; cross-country travel. It usually takes a day two get things arranged and two to get here. So, yeah, even 'fast' is five days. Usually assume an order would take at least a tenday. Of course, Ms. Thornton and Ms. Graywind also carry special orders so they will sometimes run caravans. Ms. Thornton tends to bring supply from the east which is a longer turnaround; not that you asked."
When you ask about the discount Sarah bursts out laughing. "I only work for Elmar. No discount there. You know your group is really on his good side though. I bet if you prove good on this order, you could get a slightly better price next time. Just don't say I said anything, yeah?"
Tammy says, "Well, TT, geods are usually found in a riverbed fed by a living cave or cavern. I would guess this was a lot of collecting from a lot of places around Neverwinter Wood or a very active area. Sometimes a miner who is a bit touched will spend hours in a small area and find things no one else has the patience to see."
Linene Graywind has what you're looking for. "Sister Garaele and other Clerics have need from time to time. You can buy one of these, but in all honesty, aren't you traveling with a few religious folk? You might just borrow one. Though I admit, I don't quite know how they're any different from a soup bowl. Not my specialty."
