A stone slab blocks the end of this corridor. Painted on the slab is the image of a gaunt male humanoid wearing a hooded cloak, its face a mask of stars. The figure's withered left hand is raised with palm extended.
The slab sinks into the floor, revealing a dusty passageway beyond. Relief carvings on the walls depict crowds of humanoids fleeing a black star in the sky, with rays of light extending from it to turn those they strike to dust.
There is a skeleton with a key-headwear on the southern wall. As soon as it sees Irommek, it starts walking toward eastward, without giving away the slightest intention to attack the old dwarf.
In this central open space, a gold crown topped with a glittering black opal rests on a marble pedestal.
With an expression on his face that looks like one an old dwarf would give after drinking sour, warm beer, Irommek kept one eye on the skeleton and put another on the crown.
"I would be shocked if it wasn't trapped. But... it still is a mighty fine looking gem..."
Putting his hand over his heart, he asked Valkauna for guidance for what he was thinking. Not hearing any argument from his deity and cursing himself for his unreasonable love of opals, Irommek reached out and grabbed the crown and quickly took a step back, just in case.
While Isabella is investigating, Kurma cast Detect magic.

That is indeed the Black Opal Crown!
The Black Opal Crown was once worn by the archmage Sadamor of Netheril. Legend speaks of how Sadamor saw the depths of humanity’s evil reflected in the opal of his crown. Heartbroken, he created a doomsday device — a sphere of annihilation — to swallow the world but was consumed by his own creation.

The stone slab behind the adventurers' goes back to its initial position. The way back is closed, sealing Artus and Dragonbait off.
From the corridor to the east, a foul sound comes...
Kurma, still invisible, calls out Irommek. "I know this thing Irommek. This looks very much like the Black Opal Crown. My master used to tell me stories about the Netheril people. Kurma pauses... " Not sure if it is good or bad we found it..."

"Well, that's quite the cheery artwork."
Trying to avoid bumping into his invisible friend, Irommek steps into the chamber and looks down the passages from behind his shield.
Kurma tells Irommek « let’s check for anything suspicious «
