Krom chuckles at Chill's comment "You know what I mean Chill, even if the sun is almost completely hidden, we still have a few hours of light to reach Bremen."
"Honestly, in hindsight, it should not come as such a surprise." Rhogar admits. "The lack of knowing other towns, that is. Information is likely hard to come by when travel between in such conditions is fraught with so much danger. And that's only accounting for the better weather."He adds, looking grimmer by the second, before abruptly shaking his head as if to dismiss the feeling. "Let's just go. Worst case scenario -- apart from us dying of exposure, of course -- is that we're forced to turn back within the hour with only frozen bones and eventually soggy bottoms as our reward."Rhogar cannot help but chuckle at that as the group are making their way outside to the mounts.

"If we are going then we should leave now. I am thinking at some point we should perhaps learn some magical means to have shelter from the elements." Rekuberk says as he moves to pull his winter clothing further onto his body.
“So let us leave then.” Kazri prepares to leave, making sure Oli is ok.

Paying your bill you thank Ma for the hospitality and prepare to head towards Bremen. Leaving Targo you indeed find that there is no discernable path west towards Bremen yet Chill seems confident that with the map you will be able to find your way.
Yet you find that Ma seems to have possibly tried to lead you astray as you find only 2 hours later that you near the small village.
The town of Bremen sits sleepily on the west bank of Maer Dualdon, at the mouth of the Shaengarne River. Those who lack a boat to sail into the town’s harbor can reach Bremen only by fording the river, which can be a perilous proposition when the water is running high but is easily done as it is frozen over. The Shaengarne is like a road, slowly bending its way south and west, away from the mountain and Icewind Dale.
There is no wall around the small village. As you approach and cross the river the lake around the creaky docks is frozen, forcing fishers to pull their rowboats up onto the ice. Standing between a pair of boats is a stout humanoid in cold weather clothing. A gray hood hides most of the humanoid’s face, but you can make out a wide nose and a long, frosty beard. The stout figure stamps their feet, spots you, and waves you over.
“Good, you’re here. Get to it, ingrates! Those fish ain’t gonna catch themselves!”
"I think you have the wrong group. We are not here to do any fishing. I myself have never caught a single fish." Rekuberk says as he looks the figure over with a raised brow.
Rhogar adds, calling over the wind as necessary, "I've caught plenty where I'm from. But, I'm afraid my compatriot here is right! Though, we have come to provide what help we can to Bremen. Heard back in -- what was it now? Right! Bryn. Heard back in Bryn you and yours have had a great beast to contend with in the lake for some time now. Don't suppose you care to illuminate the topic?"

As you get closer you can see that the gunwale of one of the boats has what looks like a large bite taken out of it, but both vessels appear to be seaworthy. You can see that his boats bear the names Burly Ram and Pronged Goat. The latter one sports the curious bite mark.
"Aye, well maybe that's so. I be offering 5 cp per caught trout, and time is better spent anglin’ than yappin’. How about you get to it and earn an honest days work?"
If you speak dwarven
He also grumbles in Dwarvish about you being stupid and needlessly rude. It was hard to catch all of the words but you got the gist of it.

Kazri looks at the fisherman. "We are not here to do any fishing, sir. Perhaps you would like to elaborate on the missing part of that boat?" Kazri points to the large bite mark.
Kazri takes a look at the mark from her position to see if she can recall anything that could do such a thing. (Nature: 18)

Krom shakes his head as the dwarf insults the group. He takes a few steps towards him and replies in dwarvish "You should be more careful with your words, you may end to insult a fellow dwarf and his companions. A Firebeard does not likethat " Krom waits a moment before adding "I'm Krom Firebeard, Smith of Moradin and Keeper of Axeholm. Our Fellowship travelled from the far south to help the people of this dale. From which clan are you and what is your name? " Krom gives the dwarf a moment to reply before saying "What happened at your boat? "
The dwarf gives you a dismissive wave of the hand.
“Don’t you see? Bloody ice everywhere. Last crew were apparently born with pits for eyes, because they sailed right into a damned ice floe! I ain’t gotten around to repairin’ the gunwale yet, but she floats just fine.”
Looking at Krom "Name's Grynsk Berylbore. You folks going to fish or what? I've wasted half my day as it is."
Kazri can see that it is indeed a bite mark and certainly not ice damage. While she isn't sure what creature would have made it, it would have been quite large to reach out of the water and bite the boat like that.
Rekuberk chuckles and shakes his head as he shifts from common into dwarvish. " As my friend said we have come to deal with a story of beasts hunting the waters. Most of us are better at swinging weapons then rods or nets."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Krom, once again, shakes his head at the dwarf's comment and says in dwarvish "Grynsyk, dwarf to dwarf, let's be honest with each other. Ice does not leave bite marks on wood. A lake monster does that. We are here to help, could you please let us know what really happened? I am not a fisherman, but as I was saying, I am a smith. I could repair some of your tools or add some metal sheets to strengthen your boats if you provide us with some information." Persuasion17
Grynsk becomes annoyed and starts to yell "Why don't you get off my docks if all you want to do is ask stupid questions!"
You hear footsteps approaching on the creaky dock. Another figure covered head to toe in cold weather clothing has joined you. The figure wags a gloved finger at the frosty-bearded dwarf. “You have no honor, Berylbore!” the newcomer yells, pulling down a woolen muffler to reveal a pale, half-elven face. “You’re sending these innocent people to their deaths. And for what, a few fish?”
“Pay no mind to this rambling fool!” says Grynsk.
“Did you tell them about the monster?” retorts the half-elf.
"No. No, he most certainly hasn't." Rhogar replied with a notable bite to his tone and without looking away from the Dwarf. After the past few exchanges as well as the insult (made apparent by Krom), the Bronze had become steadily more agitated by the moment. "In fact, he has been rather evasive on the subject. Blaming his fellow fisherman for -- how did you put it? 'Having pits for eyes?', hm?" He then snorts, sending faint sparks out of the nostrils and briefly giving off the scent of ozone.
Turning to the half-elf next, he asks with strained calmness, "I do not suppose you can illuminate what your friend here has been reticent to?"

Krom turns towards the half-elf and says "We asked about the monster, but we got only insults as replies." the dwarf pauses a moment to remove some of the snow from his beard "As we were saying to your friend Gyrnsk, me and my friends are a group of adventurers trying to help the people of the Dales with their problems. We heard in Bryn Shander that you had a problem with a monster in your lake so we travelled to your town hoping to take care of this problem."
"Perhaps we should deal with another. I refuse to deal with one that cares more about a few copper then he does the lives of innocents." Rekuberk says before he turns to the half elf, ignoring the dwarf. "What can you tell us of this beast?"
Grynsk curses the half-elf in Dwarvish before turning to you and yelling, “Get to work!” He then stomps away out of earshot, not eager to hear what the half-elf might have to say but still interested in keeping an eye on his boats and you.
The half-elf approaches you sheepishly.
“I’m getting the feeling Grynsk doesn’t like me very much. Or anyone who steps between him and the gold swimming in this lake. I’m Tali. I’m studying the local animal life here in Icewind Dale. I just couldn’t stay silent and watch another crew fall victim to the monster of Maer Dualdon.”
"When I heard reports of a creature in Maer Dualdon that was attacking the Bremen fishing parties, I decided to investigate and found that boats from Bremen were the only vessels to suffer these attacks. After deducing this, I have been frequenting the docks to warn any uninformed people looking to venture out onto the lake about the danger waiting there."
"Descriptions of the monster vary wildly; some witnesses say it’s the size of an ox, while others say it’s closer to the size of a house. Some say the monster might be a whale or a large fish, and others describe it as more lizard-like in appearance, with scaly skin and a long neck." Grynsk’s damaged boat, Tali explains, was actually found adrift, its crew presumably lost to the lake monster.
"I would like to better understand the monster, which has only recently become a threat. Perhaps this unending winter has affected its eating habits or demeanor in some way,” speculates the half-elf.
"You said you wanted to help. We need to learn about this animal and what is going on. If you really want to help please take this notebook. I can’t offer you much other than my gratitude, but if you’re going out on the lake, please write down any information you learn about the nature of this monster. If you spot it please record everyhting including its size, physical attributes, and general nature. Few people have survived an encounter with the monster so please do be careful. If we know what’s out there, the people of Bremen would be much safer for it. And, well, it bears the potential to be awfully interesting.”
"Ol' Grynsk there will still let you use the boats if you offer to do even a passing amount of fishing while you do so." he finishes.

Chill speaks loudly enough for the dwarf to hear him and doesn't care what his response is.
