Kazri tries her best to close the door, and asks for the attention of Krom. "Master Krom, would you be able to fix the door so that we can close it properly? Perhaps this would make a good place for us get some rest."

"Of course lass, let me see what I can do." Krom says as he inspects the state of the wood and hinges. "Those doors are badly damaged, but I'll do what I can to secure them. Remaking them from scratch would take too long, but hopefully they should be stable enough to provide us some protection while we rest." Using whatever materials are available, Krom attempts to reinforce the doors. His tools clink softly as the dwarf adjusts the broken hinges, wedges pieces of wood and debris into gaps, and applies his knowledge of dwarven construction to fortify them as best as possible.
Krom takes some time to work on the broken doors. He is able to get them back up in place and reinforce them a little. They won't hold much back but they are now secure enough that nothing can wander in.

"This should be enough." Krom nods as he finishes securing the doors. "We should be able to rest, at least for a bit, without being disturbed or seen from outside." The dwarf finds a suitable place to sit down and pulls out from his pouch the two broken miniatures. "You will be back in fighting shape in no time." murmurs the dwarf then places them back.
@DM
Assuming that we can take a short rest now, I'll use, before the rest use 1 charge of Harness Divine power to gain back a 2nd level slot. I'll spend 5 hit dice (4 from cleric, 1 from fighter) to heal for 36 (cleric) and 5 (fighter)

Kazri will stay by the doorway as well. Oli is curious about the new creature. He tries to approach, but it seem that Kitsune does not pay him any heed and falls asleep next to Chill. Oli lowers his head, and with a low growl comes and sits next to Kazri. She pets his protege.

If only to better hear any changes upstairs, Rhogar sat at the base of them with Gorrah nestled once more about his neck, and might've spent the better part of the hour otherwise performing weapon maintenance. Except at the sound of growling stomachs (be it just Gorrah or possibly even the other party members) the dragonborn cannot help but chuckle and move into the 1st floor room proper for more room to start whipping up treats.
"You know, I never thought to ask this before, but considering not exactly in the best position to call on magical aid should, uhh... should things not go quite right, are, uh... Is anyone allergic to peanuts by any chance? I came across this lovely rich and thick paste-like concoction made from the stuff supposedly back in neverwinter you see. And admittedly, I've been tempted to for the longest time to make something of it. But, if that is to be a later and more private affair, then I have plenty other treats I may yet make for you all to warm you up, if nothing else." He puts to the group, ready to accommodate them to the best of his abilities.
And if by the end of the hour the varied palates and limited selection meant creating a hardy potato stew(upon clearing more space to cook, of course), then Rhogar would do so without complaints! So long as everyone had a chance to enjoy something warm would be enough for the dragonborn.

Near the end of your rest low voices can be heard outside the barricaded doors to the tower. Chill can hear them but they speak in a language he does not understand.
"You are too kind, Chill. I wouldn't call this a masterwork, but considering the lack of proper materials and time, it's not bad either." replies Krom to the tabaxi. As soon as Rhogar finishes to cook, the dwarf takes his share of soup and eats it with gusto "This soup is amazing, Rhogar. It's nice to be able to eat a proper meal even far from civilization."
Hearing voices outside the tower, the dwarf immediately gets up and walks closer to Chill "How many are they? Can you tell?" Krom whispers.
Chill takes his share of the soup and finishes most of it. He offers the rest to Kitsune who has awoken at the motion around him. He also laps up a small portion before settling down again.
As the voices are heard he tries to discern what they are saying but he cannot.
"They speak a language I cannot understand." He whispers to Krom. "Perhaps it is the drow?"
He remains alert in case whoever is outside tries to force the doors open.
"It is delicious indeed Mr. Nimbatuul. I am not sure if Oli can have peanuts." Kazri eats most of the stew on her bow, then she gives half a spoon to Oli. "I will give him a small portion to make sure he is not allergic."
Upon hearing the voices, Kazri stands with shield and sword ready.
(I know Dogs can't have peanut butter, not sure about bear or owlbear for that matter.)

"You are most welcome, Master Krom."Rhogar declared with the biggest smile on his face, before then return to happily devouring his own portion. He set aside a bowl for Gorrah as well. Yet even then, she found reason enough to steal a few pieces of potatoes from her dragonborn summoner. "Hm? What is--?"Rhogar said a touch above a whisper before catching on and immediately covering his mouth. From that point on his expression turned more serious as he stood up with staff in hand near the center of the room.

Krom gestures towards the ramp of stairs with his hammer and, quietly mouthing the words, addresses the group "Shall we go upstairs? It's better to have the higher ground." The dwarf stands, hammer and shield at the ready, prepared to follow the group upstairs or hold their ground on the basement.
Chill is able to make out 3 or 4 distinct voices. They speak in hushed tones for several minutes. You all stand, ready for action, if something happens. After a short, tense, period of time the voices fade off. You continue to listen carefully but nothing further is heard and you heard no sounds of someone, or thing, trying to enter the tower.
Chill raises his hand for Krom to wait. As the minutes pass he strains to hear anything outside. Eventually the voices move away but he continues to listen carefully.
"I think they are gone. Maybe Gorrah can go to the upper windows and take a look? "
The dwarf lowers his hammer and shield as Chill confirms that there is no one outside. Krom nods in agreement at the tabaxi's proposal. "Sound idea, Chill." "If Gorrah doesn't see anyone, I suggest to attempt to touch the tiny tower on the top floor. If Rhogar's suspects are correct, and I believe they are, that tower is indeed a gate to another location. Hopefully, we will find what we seek there."

Gorrah immediately takes flight at the question, startling Rhogar for a moment, but thankfully not so much as for him to make much of a noise. Though by the time she's disappears out of sight up the stairs, the dragonborn had recovered enough to grumble and chastise the psuedodragon their bond. The mental communion falls on proverbial deaf ears however, as the familiar picked up the pace once halfway up, determining it to be safe enough to not worry about the noise of her flight for the upstairs window attracting too much attention. Once at the top, unless the hands had somehow reformed over the hour, she speeds along to the windowsill and tried to inconspicuously peek out and scan the outside world for trouble.
Meanwhile, Kazri makes sure Oli doesn't make any sound. The pair stay at the door, just in case.

The hands are still in pieces, no sign of life in them. Gorrah reaches the sill and looks out the window.
He just catches what looks to be an elvish humanoid with dark skin look around for a moment before turning around and entering the library to the west of the tower you occupy. Likely the drow you heard are in the area.
