Name: (Please choose a name that makes sense for ancient greece. Don't just choose "Jack" or "Oliver", please)
Race/Class: Please put your in-game race first, and then in parenthesis the race you are using (if you're using a different race to represent your character's features). For example: Human (Dwarf) Forge Cleric To clarify, your race should be something that makes sense in Ancient Greece, and the race you are using should be only aesthetic. You can have the stats of the Shadar-Kai race, but since elves don't exist in Ancient Greece, you should choose to reskin it as a human who was changed by the Underworld, or some other reflavoring that makes sense for a greek setting.
Backstory: Please include in a spoiler.
Faith (if any): If you worship a specific deity, list them. Clerics and Paladins must be devoted to a deity but Aasimar and Divine Soul Sorcerers have to be connected to a deity, but not necessarily have to worship it.
Physical Description: Please include a physical description.
Bonded Item: Please include your item, and some features you want it to have. It will scale with you at certain levels.

Race/Class: Talos' little brother(warforged) Artificer(Armorer)
Backstory:
It can be hard being the smaller sibling. Especially if the bigger sibling is a literal giant. This, unfortunately, was Aster's fate: to forever live in the shadow of his brother, Talos. Technically, Aster was the elder of the two, a miniature first model that Hephaestus made so that he could iron out any kinks with the final model. But, of course, no one ever told the story of Aster, no. Instead, all the tales were sung of his massive brother. After Talos was created, Hephaestus no longer had a use for him. He had served his purpose, being a miniature model for the larger, superior design. But even though Hephaestus didn't need him, he couldn't just throw him away. Aster was a living, thinking creature, just like any man. He saw that the little automaton was not happy with his design, and so he gave Aster one of his old hammers. "Take this," he said, "And I will teach you how to improve your design on your own." Aster gladly accepted his father's gift, and felt the knowledge flow into him from the old tool, for it had absorbed some of the God's knowledge after all the years of its use. Aster then ventured out on his own, towards the Oracle of Delphi, to find out what he should do and where he should go next.
Faith (if any): Hephaestus
Physical Description: Aster is actually just a bronze mechanical skeleton with glass veins and arteries filled with golden ichor all over. This appearance is unsettling to most, though, so he has plates of bronze attached to his face, chest, arms, and legs that make him look like a handsome man made of unmoving bronze. Despite this, some of his skeleton can be seen below at some joints. His actual frame is quite small, just about as large as a dwarf, but he has made modifications, creating more or less a larger body for himself that he can don and doff as he chooses.
Bonded Item: Hephaestus' Holy Hand-Me-Down Hammer - A hammer that has absorbed some of the crippled smith's knowledge over the years of him working on it. While Aster absorbed much of the knowledge that it held within when he first grasped it, it almost definitely still has a few secrets... Basically, as it scales up it could grant him new magic item schematics and other artifice-related abilities.

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Acacia is the nymph of an oak tree in a forest outside of Athens. In her early years, she had little interaction with the world outside of her grove. She only ever spoke with her fellow dryads, and on one occasion, the bumbling fool of a man they lured in and charmed. While the other nymphs seemed content with their simple lives, Acacia always yearned for something more. But, bound to her tree, she had no way to satisfy her wanderlust. She started praying every night to whatever god or goddess would listen in hopes that one would take pity on her and grant her a means of leaving. Eventually, Artemis heard her pleas and came to her aid. The goddess fashioned a bow from the branches of the tree and imbued it with magic, allowing Acacia to travel freely.
Acacia quickly realized that she lacked a place in human society. So, she stuck to the shadows, watching the affairs of men from afar. It wasn't perfect, but it was more than she ever could have hoped for. She frequently stole books from libraries, wanting to learn as much as she could about the world. At one point during her travels, while passing through Delphi, she felt a strange calling to visit the oracle there and see what the rest of her life had in store.
Faith (if any): Artemis
Physical Description: (I took a lot of creative liberties with this design so let me know if you want me to do something else) Acacia is very short with a petite figure. Her skin is a warm brown, with patches on her face, arms, and shoulders having the rough, cracked texture of tree bark. Her eyes are golden with dark sclera, and her hair is a mess of dull green vines that she's woven into a crown-like braid.
Bonded Item: A bow gifted to her by Artemis. I'm still working on the details, but I'm imagining maybe arrows fired from it cast a very small-radius Spike Growth wherever they land. So, that could be on a person or monster's body, or on the ground if they miss.
Kyma was always... peculiar. But that's what you'd expect when you're a child of Poseidon. Well, not literally... Kyma was born in a ship which was transporting her family from Rhodes to Athens, but the ship was caught in a storm and sank. Poseidon decided to spare Kyma by giving her his blessing and some of his power. When Kyma washed up on shore days later, she was found and taken in by a humble farmer and his family. Despite her daily responsibilities, she found a love for the open water, and would do anything to ride the waves she saw constantly in her dreams. This opportunity came when she was drafted into the Athenian navy. Kyma loved the rigorous training, combining manning ships and wielding weapons, as well as the breeze of the ocean, where she was at home. After several years at sea, she was promoted to captain of her own ship. Once she fell in with a group of pirates, defeated them, and took the captain's sword. It was a mysterious weapon, to be sure of it, and curious to see what it was, she decided to test it out on the ship's rigging. It cut through the ropes like butter. Shocked, Kyma realized she had underestimated and mistrusted the dark power of the weapon. She tried to get rid of it, but she woke up every morning with the sword by her side, accompanied with growing unexplainable events. Eventually she grew to accept the sword, and carried it with her valiantly to every battle.
Faith (if any): Devout worshipper of Poseidon, but also worships Zeus
Physical Description: Kyma has pale blue skin with dark blue wave tattoos across her body. Her eyes are sea green, though when she is angry, they turn the deepest blue. She has long jet black hair which she usually keeps in a bun. She usually wears light grey robes with a black sailor vest over them and white gloves.
Bonded Item: An old necklace that washed up on shore with her, which allows her to channel the power of storms.
Interesting; I’m playing in a very similarly themed campaign, and I see some familiar faces. Regardless, I hope to play - I love the topic!
Let’s see what Tyche brings me the second time around.
Ability scores: 13151313612
Those stats add up to exactly 72, and are rather lackluster. Any chance I could use point buy / standard array / possibly reroll?
Additionally, the backstory that instantly sprung to my mind was of a Kenku with the flavoring of being a descendant of Echo, but I’m not sure how excited you’d be about the whole Raven-person whole deal. I’d be willing to have the appearance of another race with the stats & features of a Kenku, or I can come up with another way to explain a bird person strolling around the Greek countryside.
You can use Point Buy or Standard Array, PlumPie (I'm in the campaign with you, btw).
Edit: You would need a really good reason for looking like a bird person if you want to appear like a Kenku, but you can use the Kenku race and just look like a human or nymph (Echo was a nymph).

That was my plan actually, ahah, I am writing a backstory based on how crows were created by a curse from Apollo.
Faith: None that she worships exclusivly, but will tend to pray to Athena and Ares.
Physical Description: Koralia stands at about 6'5" with tanned skin, dark hair and brown eyes. Her horse half has dark brown fur. She tends to wear leather and fur like most of her kind, but no actual armor. She is covered in scars from various fights with both man and monster. Most of her equipment is strapped to her flanks so it is out of the way and easy to carry but within easy reach should she need it.
Bonded Item: A bronze shield that was given to her by her teacher. Helps her to focus and enhance her rage so that she is a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.
Thanks for responding. The backstory may be a bit ambitious, but I probably had the most fun writing it out of any characters I've done so far - hope to play, the campaign sounds very fun!
Name: Koraki (Greek for 'Raven')
Race/Class: Kenku (Kenku), flavored to be a Human that was cursed by Apollo, similar to the tale of the creation of Crows. Class is Monk (way of Mercy), flavored as a former Agent of a monastic group dedicated to fueling the cycle of Plato's Kyklos in order to gain power in the Ancient Greek political city-states.
Backstory:
Sequestered on Mount Athos, an ancient monastery that gathers monks and spiritual worshipers, Koraki received training in order to live up to the Monks of Mercy that travel the countryside and aid in compassionately healing those in need, or promptly dispatching of those who are in pain, or causing pain for others. It was through this elaborate method that Koraki was sent on several missions in the Greek area, both to help and hurt those in need of it, and to maintain or restore order with what the monastery considered to be the status quo. Despite the well-meaning intentions of an originally well-meaning Koraki, it was evident that corruption and malice had plagued those in charge of the monastery - and, through those nefarious means, Koraki had a taste of power set in his mind. Taking on missions that were questionable in terms of virtue and validity with what the monastery was intended for, it was quite apparent that Koraki had progressed from being a well-intentioned mercenary to a ruthless political criminal.
It was quite a hot, misty evening in the small municipality of Eleusis, a fledgling city about a dozen miles Northwest of Athens. Koraki recounted his assignment for the night as he casually sipped on a small goblet of wine at a neighborhood tavern that the Athens were famous for - he should really give that city a visit, he thinks, before returning back to his musings. He had received word from the honchos up above about an envoy of ministers were to come by this area and leave a distinct mark on the citizens - rumors had been spreading about attempting to dispel the iron rule of the aristocratic Areopagus, and apparently the oligarchs had dipped into their reservoir of dubious followers that would work for a coin and ensure the security and power of the officials in above. Staring at his reflection in the glossy surface of the wine in the goblet, he was amused at how paranoid the people who sent him here truly were - by the Gods, his target was just a worshiper!
Anyhow, the setting sun accentuated the shadows building up from the lamplight that cloaked the almost empty tavern in a homely orange glow. Packing up the small amount of possessions he had strewn about on the table in front of him, he promptly paid the barman, thanked him, and exited into the now-cool air. Whistling a small tune as he walked by, he reflected upon what led him to this path of life. The promise of power alluded to him, and subterfuge spoke to him like no other occupation he could think of. No matter - the lodgings of his target were looming closer and closer, and he had work to do.
It was hard to describe the nightmares he had later that night, after he completed his assignment. The scream of a woman entering the room as he deftly let go of the windowsill rung in his head like so many windchimes. A disturbing display of laurel branches, palm trees and lyres plagued his dreams in a restless night of sleep. His target had been praying and reciting some piece of scripture, and despite Koraki only glancing at the paper that had fallen out of the dead man's hand, he remembered every word precisely. Curiously, he had awoken to a screeching sound at his door. After opening it, a flurry of crows blocked out the sky, and an arrow thudded not half a foot to the right of Koraki's head. Koraki quickly closed the door and rushed back to his room.
It suddenly dawned upon Koraki that the crows, the arrows, and his dreams had all been signs of his target being a worshiper of Apollo - and Apollo seems to intend to take his revenge. After gathering his thoughts, he rapidly gathered his equipment, and hopped out of the back windowsill, just like the night before. A halo of crows that were dotting the surrounding trees and areas seemed to all at once take flight, following the figure down an alleyway and onto a main road of the city. Several figures shifting in the backdrop of the scenic area indicated that he was not alone, and he was becoming the hunted, rather than the hunter.
Ducking behind an abandoned stall and hiding from his aggressors, he wracked his brain, he thought of what he could possibly do in this situation. Returning to the city was not an option - there were eyes everywhere. Faintly recalling an old tale that he had been told, he decided his only option was to make a break for Mount Cithaeron, a small ways away from Eleusis.
Wording a recital of luck, he emerged from his cover and ran in a full sprint towards the small forest and looming mountain range that breaks up the skyline of the surrounding city.
It had been several hours of desparate sprints and dashes when Koraki finally managed to reach the destination he intended to reach. No amount of hiding and camouflage could dissuade his pursuers - they seemed to be using more than just skill to hunt him down. Next to a river up on the mountain, he decided to risk everything on the one possibility that could manage to save his life. He simply shouted out his name, with all the sound he could muster.
An interesting series of events proceeded to occur. Firstly, all the ambient noise seemed to have stopped - crickets ceased to chirp, and the water's rushing seemed to diminish from the outburst. Then, emanating from some strange place, his calling repeated from the surrounding area. Echo's voice had returned, seemingly aiding the fleeing traveler. Suddenly, off to his side, it repeated, yet again, and again, this time downstream further yet. Manically laughing, Koraki proceeded to shout; "I'm here!" and listen to the cacophony of sounds seemingly bounce off the surroundings, making his location nigh impossible to find.
Half a dozen figures, with clothes clad in laurel branches, stepped from the trees, with bows knocked. A sudden calling of sound seeming to radiate from one figure alerted the attention of the others, and was responded promptly with a hail of arrows. Confused and bewildered, with a combination of Echo's blessing and Koraki's skills, he managed to dispatch his pursuers, one by one. Approaching the remaining hunter and considering himself untouchable, he began to silently approach, considering himself untouchable.
Suddenly, a halo of light burst from the last figure left. Shielding his eyes from the light shedding of the figure, Koraki fell backwards, and dropped his dagger. Seeing the figure begin to float and radiate a brilliant aura of light deeply shook Koraki to his core. The figure seemed to be a replication of Apollo in all his divine power.
Paralyzed and unable to take his eyes of Apollo, Koraki lay transfixed and unable to move while Apollo unleashed his revenge, inflicting several curses onto Koraki that will remain until his death. Just like with the Crows and the punishment from Coronis, Apollo transformed Koraki into a hideous creature - feathers as dark as the night sky punctured his skin as it withered away into thin, clawed hands. Searing pain ripped throughout Koraki's body as all semblance of him turned into what can only be described as a large, ungainly, Crow - a long beak protruded from his face, and the whites of his black-irised eyes turned to a startling shade of yellow, his transfiguration symbolizing the divine revenge of Apollo's wrath. Lastly, as a punishment for his tricks and deceit with Echo, Apollo stripped away Koraki's voice and creativity, robbing him of the ability to deceive and connive plots and schemes, and forcing him to only be able to repeat what has been said. Finally satisfied with his revenge, Apollo left the cowering being free.
Horrified and disfigured, Koraki knew that the rest of society would not accept him for anything but a monster. Gathering the clothing that was now too vacant for his shriveled body, Koraki spent the next few years barely managing to survive off what the wilderness would offer him and what he could steal from others, remaining under his long garments to avoid confrontation wherever possible.
Despising his wretched state, he sought out the only possibility of returning back to his previous state. Figuring out the locations to Delphi to commune with the Oracle of Apollo was no easy task, but Koraki set out to do anything that the God could offer him to right his wrongdoings and to remove the terrible curses that plagued his very existence.
Faith (if any): The monastery at Athos likely instilled a powerful sense of respect for the general pantheon that Koraki likely followed for some time. I could also see both the character and the political faction he served for being attached to Kratos and/or Dolos, both of who could represent the ideologies the group was after.
Physical Description: Slightly shorter than former Human he was due to his tendency to hunch over to disguise his wretched appearance, Koraki stands around five feet in height. Where Humans had arms and legs, Koraki now has dark, raven-like plumage and skeletal, scuted hands and lower legs, and scrawny, thinned-out limbs. Instead of a face lies something akin to a raven's head, with a long, elongated, jet-black beak with piercing yellow eyes to accentuate the darkness of his figure. He normally dons equally dark clothing from his time as an assassin as to disguise his unsightly appearance, using his body that became thin and emaciated from his curse and living at the outskirts of society as an advantage to cover his face and beak in a dark shawl, with sleeves that more than cover the ends of his shrunken fingers. Also adorning his darkly colored clothes lines an inner array of a fantastical amount of pockets that hold a variety of tools - lockpicks, daggers, a variety of small potion vials of poison and other malicious trinkets. He carries a long and embellished spear in one hand, often treating it as a walking stick, resting his body as he makes his travels.
Bonded Item: Can definitely be changed in the future / at DM's discretion: Merciful Poison - from his servitude and training at the monastery where he received training in the forms of dispatching souls efficiently and quickly, Koraki has trained and developed immunities to a very specific poison that he carries around in a magical vial that refills with poison a certain amount of time after being depleted. Before approaching a target, he may coat his spear or his hands in the poison, and directly apply it to targets he will be hitting.
I will probably leave this recruitment thread open for another day or so. I currently have accepted 3 heroes, which is the minimum that I would like in the campaign. The players are a warforged armorer artificer, human beast master ranger, and dryad assassin rogue. Depending on what other submissions I see in the next day, I may accept more, but otherwise, this is the current party.
If anyone who hasn't been accepted would like to revise their character, you are free to do so. The party has no full casters, and no barbarians/fighters/paladins, and not really any full support characters, so those are more likely to be accepted, as well as unique races.

what do you want me to improve about my character, is it that it does not have a good backstory, or that I did not format my submision form right, or somwthing else? i am fine with spending a while making a good character to play in this campaign (i really want to) but i dont want to spend an hour making an epic backstory, to relise, that you dont care about my terrible backstory and it was something else, or something like that.
Hmm. I've got a bit of an idea for a bard (aoidoi) perhaps. I'll roll and see what comes up.
Ability scores: 151716171811
Edit: Damn, that's gotta be some of the best rolls I've had. Happy to re-roll if needed.
Name: Pittheus
Race & Class: Human Variant Bard (College of Lore)
Backstory:
Pittheus spent most of his formative years in the great libraries, researching the great stories of the past. Dedicating his recent years to the epics, he started his journey celebrating them, spreading the stories as his bardic experience grew. Travelling from town to town, Pittheus would perform to survive, but would also gather any and all stories and history that he can find. As he travelled and shared the epics, Pittheus began to dream of writing one of his own epics, perhaps even living one.
Faith: The Muses, but specifically Calliope
Physical Description: An average height man, Pittheus is unassuming. Very much the scholar, having spent years learning history and stories of the world, both past and present, he lacks the physicality of the great warriors. His short curly hair surrounds his somewhat rounded face.
Bonded Item: A book found in the library of his youth, or perhaps gifted from one of the other muses, Clio. Once a day, opening it brings up a random spell that can be cast once on that day (like a spell scroll).
Apologies, had no idea an assassin rogue had already applied.
I revised my character and story to suit some kind of Monk. Monk of Mercy fits the theme the best, has some healing and would likely fill in for the fighter vacancy that you asked for, but I’m willing to be flexible for any other Monk subclass you would prefer.
I had noticed that. Totally fine, and necessary for using most of that UA article.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Spells, Monsters, Subclasses, Races, Arcknight Class, Occultist Class, World, Enigmatic Esoterica forms
(Actually, my friend Aster is a pretty decent tank, with 18 ac and a small recharging pool of temp hp)
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
(Yeah, noticed that after I posted. Edited to correct it)

what do you want me to improve about my character, is it that it does not have a good backstory, or that I did not format my submision form right, or somwthing else? i am fine with spending a while making a good character to play in this campaign (i really want to) but i dont want to spend an hour making an epic backstory, to relise, that you dont care about my terrible backstory and it was something else, or something like that.
I am an average mathematics enjoyer.

If not, then I’m afraid there isn’t much I’m able to do with the backstory I created, but regardless, hope you enjoy^^
