Bandit 1 death save: 8
[Unless anyone wants to pursue the Bandit Captain or Bandit 4, we are out of combat. There are four dead bandits lying in the street if anyone wants to search them.]
Rain walks over to Marcel, places a hand on his shoulder, and uses Lay on Hands to restore 4 hit points. "You fought well, my brother, and stood strong despite taking some hard hits." She turns to the rest of the group, "I recommend we make our way swiftly to the merchant's villa. We need to get this delivery and ourselves safe."

Brother Maynard will offer his healing skills (Healer feat) to anyone who wishes it. If you do, please roll d6 and add 5 in this thread so I can record the number of uses of my healing kit. This benefit can only be used once per short or long rest.
After everyone is healed, that wants it, Brother Maynard will apply his art to himself.

”Should we do anything with these dead bodies, alert the city guards, or just move on? At least search the bodies before we leave. They certainly don’t have need for any of their possessions any longer.”

"Yes, Brother Maynard, Otwin and I both suffered some wounds, so we would greatly appreciate any healing you could offer,"says Rain. [OOC: Nice feat! I haven't paid close attention to many feats, but that is a really valuable one. Saves spell slots and hit dice!]
Rain: 10
Otwin: 7
"I think we should search the bodies, pull them to the side of the road, and mention the attack to any city guards we run across," she adds. She then turns to Jiali, "Whatever that spell was that set the Bandit Captain laughing? That was great. I could see how dangerous she was and that put her out of the fight for at least a little while. She was carving people up!"

Searching the bodies, you find 1d6 copper pieces, and a poorly maintained scimitar and crossbow on each. Dressed in ragged stinking leather.
The city watch asks you to hand over everything you found on the bodies as evidence. They tell you to be on your guard against the Yuan-ti, and they inform you of other similar incidents happening all over town. apparently some bandits who were taken alive claim they were under the influence of magic. They urge you to hurry to your destination and then get off the streets.

"These bandits really didn't have much going for them," says Rain. "Only 5 copper between them all. Let's get to Wakanga's villa before we run into more trouble. Keep an eye out everyone."
Rain follows her own advice and watches the sidestreets and alleys for more danger. (Perception check: 16)

JialI is nervously observing the surroundings on their trip to Wakanga's place as she is still sharing a bit after the assault. She is however also proud that she did a good job and eager to follow the city guard advice to get of the streets as fast as possible.
After the initial trouble on your delivery route, everything else goes smoothly. You make the delivery to the thankful steward of a Merchant Prince, and it looks like you have kept Kimo in business for a little bit longer.
Your return to the farm is uneventful. Uncle Ningle meets you at the barn to hear your story, asking questions that make you think he already knows the answers before you respond. He tells you that the Yuan-ti, people who worship Dendar the Night Serpent, have started some sort of campaign against Port Nyanzaru, using mind control to cause all sorts of problems. Deliveries are cancelled for the foreseeable future. Ningle tells you that Kimo has vanished from this plane of existence, but he doesn’t think he is dead, although he did encounter aThayan Lich in the jungle.
Pleaes take some “downtime” and advance to level 2. You will need to train or meditate for at least a week. Uncle Ningle can train wizards. Monks, Paladins, Clerics and Barbarians can self train to level 2.
OOC: Sorry for the long delay between posts. I will try to get back on a schedule and post weekly. Thanks for your patience.
Brother Maynard spends much of the week in fervent prayer, thanking Lathander for guiding him on this new path. In all of his years of service, he had never been pushed so hard. The sheer weight of the consequences, of life and death being played out right in front of him. He felt that his purpose was being revealed in these new trials. The stagnation of chores and duties was being replaced by challenges and camaraderie. He was tired, more physically exhausted than he ever recalled being. Deep down, he hoped that he wasn’t too old for this. While his aging body groaned, his consciousness was flexing and expanding. Over the course of the week, he found that he could prepare one more spell than he could in the past. Likewise, he felt he now could draw upon the divine resource one more time per day to aid himself or his friends. Also he felt hardier than ever, a bandit’s slash that might have been a mortal wound last week was now definitely survivable.
When not in prayer, Brother Maynard will help with camp maintenance and clean-up, offer assistance with stew preparations, continue practicing his spear techniques, best practices and timing of day for the collection of rainwater, fellowshipping with the other campers and quality time with Dawn Ald.
Back at the farm, Rain reflects on the fight and the trip. She feels like the defense of the delivery cart allowed her to sharpen her skills in ways that training couldn't. She is still committed to training, but can feel how certain moves and reflexes are stronger now after being truly put to the test. As she practices sword fighting with Marcel or Brother Maynard over the next few days, she senses that her fighting style has settled into one that focuses on dealing damage.
One night, Rain climbs a palm tree and simply listens to the night. She thinks over her upbringing in the faith of Lathander and the visits she made to other temples in the city. None of those deities really speak to her. She studies the stars, feels the wind, and listens. The warm night is quiet and Rain begins to feel a sense of peace and comfort, although she cannot tell its source. Over the next few nights, she continues this meditation. She finds that the understanding of some spells have come to her mind.
As Rain continues her practice of fighting skills and meditation, she learns to harness some kind of divine magic in her strikes. She talks with Brother Maynard about healing, trying to better understand how she can let the magic flow through her to heal wounds. She talks with Uncle Ningle about local poisons and diseases, hoping her spells can help her sense these dangers as well. After all of this training, meditation, and study, she also feels generally stronger.
(OOC: I was very excited to see you post! I hope the others haven't given up. I'm enjoying this story, despite the slow pace. I hope all is well with you.)
The skirmish with the bandits left Jiali unsettled. She stood her ground and the group survived, but what if one of those Bandits would have attacked her? Would she still be of use if she was actually attacked? She doubts the answer to this question would be “yes”. She needs to find a way to protect herself should she ever be targeted by something nasty. She is very glad that Uncle Nigel is willing to teach her more about the arcane arts helps her to master a couple of new spells that will help her to defend herself and the group. She also asks Nigel not teach her how to keep her head in the midst of battle and how to deflect possible danger using the arcane power she is wielding.
She also noticed the magpie she summoned is definitely following her. And one day she discovered that she can reach out with her mind and get a response from it. She spends most of the time she is not with Uncle Nigel exploring how deep her connection to the summoned creature is and what that connection enables her to do.
The evenings however, she spends sitting by the camp fire, carving little figurines of creatures she has seen around Port Nyanzaru and more detailed ones of the Bandits the group killed during their last job.
Marcel takes this days with nostalgia of his seafaring days. He remembers the dailly tasks, day to day training... He try's to upholds his ideals, with the new team, train to new limits, unlock new potencial in him.
