Aer and Gar are able to see that the carriage left tread marks on the road, which looks like they were steering away from an obstruction in the road and they had crashed their carriage. Hrothgar is able to gradually push the tipped carriage a few inches further off the road to prevent further accidents from occurring.
"Ah, looks like this was meant to be a delivery. Helm's Hold may have been expecting this package as they're low on supplies from the undead attacks. We'll try to fit in as many as we can in ours and we can deliver it." Lanniver says, directing the group to grab what they can carry and fill their own carriage up.
While Irzhalin certainly cannot match the strength of the two Gars in the party, he’s able to calmly flick items back and forth with his psionic abilities. He will take as many items as possible, hoping they will reach those in need.
Before loading up the wagon he will see if he can find the horses from the previous wagon load...He will also load up his pack with what he can carry....
As they load the carriage, they begin to notice that some of the supplies have been damaged and won't be of any use. About 1/3 of the inventory is salvageable, and they're able to load it into their own carriage.
Aer is able to spot horses tracks that proceed into the Neverwinter Wood. "I'd hate to say it, but the horses are probably dead. Best not to waste time on them." Lanniver says to Aer, speculating that Aer may have been considering pursuing the horses.
"May their souls make it to Elysium." Anika says, as she seems worried about the situation.
"Best not to wander too long. We should get moving." Lanniver suggests to the Chevall's.
"I'm not one for hesitation," says Irzhalin, "And it looks like our time here is done. We should head to Helm's Hold and eliminate the source of the undead; protecting others from the same fate as this is our priority."
Hrothgar nods and enters the carriage once more. Putting away his shield he looks outward towards the carriage stranged at the side of the road with corpses still on the ground. He would want to give them a burial but time was not on their side.
Hopefully we can prevent further attacks such as this he says as they depart
The four gather back inside the carriage with Anika as Lanniver continues the journey of traveling to Helm's Hold. It's getting late now, as the sun is setting.
They arrive at the gates, and Lanniver shows them their ID's and explains their reason for visiting. He also briefs the guards on the rations and medkits they've acquainted on their travel. The guards allow them safe passage into the fortified city.
Lanniver takes them through the city, passing all the people whom are either waving at them or staring at them with judgmental glares. Eventually, Lanniver reaches the Cathedral of Helm, and ushers everyone out of the carriage. They're greeted by a male priest, whom is wearing robes that has the holy symbol of Helm sewn into it.
"Greetings, travelers. Nice to see you've made it." The priest greets the party. Lanniver looks onto the man with a raised eyebrow.
"Who are you? I've never seen you before." Lanniver asks. "I am Rashal, I've recently been annoited High Priest of the Gilded Eye. It was expected for you to be unaware of my existence, given your absence." Rashal smirks.
"Whatever." Lanniver says with a hint of annoyance. "We've brought your stuff. The delivery was comprised. We salvaged what we could." Lanniver informs them of the supplies, and other priests retrieve them and carry them inside. They display their gratitude.
Rashal looks onto the four man standing beside Anika. "This is the 'we'? Who are they?" Rashal inquires on the party's identities.
While the carriage is going through the streets Hrothgar looks to see the people to get a feel of this place.
Hrothgar takes a step towards the priest balding his fist and placing it against his own chest while bowing his head slightly as a greeting. I am Hrothgar Densfell. He looks to the symbol on the priests robes. I too worship Helm and like my companions here newly recruited into the Order of the Gauntlet.
He asks bluntly, We are here to lend aid. What troubles this town?
“Call me Irzhalin. Who we are should not concern you, for we have come to your side to help. I am not one for wasting words, so simply - tell us why we were brought out here, and what you seek to accomplish out of our presence.”
Aer, along the others, are aware of Lanniver's stance on Helm's Hold and the Order of the Gilded Eye. Lanniver personally would prefer not to be here, and that much is visible. He's only here because it's purely business.
Additionally, Aer can sense that Rashal is oozing confidence in himself, and that smirk may be a hint of judgment he's casting on Lanniver; perhaps Lanniver has a history with this city and the Gilded Eye that Rashal knows of.
Rashal nods Gar. "Straight to the point, I like that." he says, and then he looks unto Hrothgar approvingly. "Perhaps your talents would be best spent in our establishment." he says, briefly glancing at Lanniver, obviously trying to get a rise out of him. He then looks onto Irzhalin. "Ah, this one must be the heavy-hitter of the group. Don't worry, I'll brief you on what your task will be, inside the Cathedral, away from prying eyes." Rashal says, as he suddenly starts peering around the area, as if to see if anyone unusual is watching.
"Come along now." Rashal pivots on his heel, and guides them inside. They all step inside the Cathedral, which is a temple dedicated to Helm. This is when they begin to see that the Cathedral appears to have become a hospital. There's sick people all over the place, with priests tending to their illnesses and wounds. "As you can see, our walls are able to keep the undead enemies out, but a plague has stricken our soldiers, and our scouts have not returned. I fear we're being exhausted of our resources by an intelligent enemy and they're biding their time to strike. It's taking everything we have to keep our men alive, that's why we reached out to you."
Anika frowns, being upset to see so many people fighting for their lives from unknown forces. She rushes over and begins to offer her help to the local priests. Lanniver nods to Anika, and looks to the four Cheval's. "I suspect the task is for us to roam the Neverwinter Wood to discover the cause?" Lanniver asks.
"You suspect correctly. We'd normally just send scouts in two-man teams. That system has worked in the past, but that appears to be the case no longer. Therefore, a four-man team should fare better in the woods. Hopefully, you can nip this in the bud, possibly find our scouts." Rashal concludes. Lanniver looks confused, since Rashal said four-man team, when there's five of them.
Following Rashal into the Cathedral Hrothgar looks around seeing all the sick people. He takes a few steps forward standing closer to the center still listening to Rashal and Lanniver talk.
Hrothgar closes his eyes a moment and whispers I need your aid Helm, give me your sight to watch over these people.A moment later he opens his eyes again looking around trying to determine a source of illness in these people. Walking around slowly looking at many of the sick.
Hearing a four man team is needed Hrothgar will see the confusion on Lannivers face. Pausing a moment to see if Lanniver speaks up about it. When he does not Hrothgar will. Four? I assume you mean the five of us. We are not skilled healers, our abilities are best put to use out there. He points in a random direction to indicate the outside.
Action: using Divine Sense(60ft radius) to detect strong evil such as creatures (one of the sick of even Rashal) but you also detect the presence of any place or object that has been consecrated or desecrated. Perhaps finding items infected by disease as a source for this to spread among the people.
Hrothgar's divine sense is able to detect some disease, as the wounds the soldier's have sustained from undeath ambushes have left them sick. Aer's medical examination isn't able to determine what the disease may be, or if there's anything more than just a disease.
Rashal looks onto them. "Yes, you four will be tasked with investigating the Neverwinter Wood, while Sir Lanniver Strayl's presence has been requested by the Chief Speaker, Amarandine Wanderfoot. With that being said, your captain won't be available to join you on your task." Rashal concludes. Lanniver sighs, and will wish the four Chevall's well, and depart to meet with the Chief Speaker of Helm's Hold.
"For those that have returned back, they were able to report undead sightings. They reported a mass amount of undead creatures lurking in the northwestern area of the wood. Find the source and extinguish it, and perhaps our city can be saved this day." Rashal offers them the map.

Hrothgar will carry over whatever supplies seem salvageable, making a few trips back and forth between the carriages.
Perhaps we will find out more once we get to Helms Hold. Not following up on where the oldest zombie came from for now.
Gar nods as he carries what supplies he can.
