Gilgin chuckles. “Not harmin‘ anyone? Ye threw a javelin at the big lad! Not that it COULD harm ‘im - with the way ye threw it.” Gilgin doesn’t trust this weasely Kobold and looks for signs that he’s lying about his intentions.

Assuming he’s unable to tell anything of the Kobolds intentions, he eyes it with suspicion.
“All are afraid of this winter with no end. Auril is having her way with our land. Is there any way that you kobolds could coexist with the humans? Is there any deal that could be reached?” Hifu says this with suspicion, but hopes to offer an opening. “How do we reach Trex to discuss this possibility?”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Nyx pulls out some rope. "We are going to bind you and the big one here will carry you as a shield, with a knife at your back. If he gets hurt then you just die, is that clear? Anything you can think of that we should know before we head on down there?"
Is that the only way down? He asks, looking down on the kobold.
He looks around to see the size of the items in the room. To see if only dwarves lived here. But thinks they needed to carry out items all the same so should have some room to travel down.
He watches the kobold again, unsure if he simply does not know another way or if he is not telling.
“If this mine is anything like those back home, the ore would be passed along in those buckets to a man up top - ye wouldn’t be travellin’ with yer plunder” Kravek starts towards the tunnel, “We’d better keep goin’, tell theses pansies to shove off - shouldn’t be too hard. Let’s get it done with, so I can get me some of those gems upstairs!”
Grek leads you down the tunnel the other kobold used to run away. The tunnel circles clockwise and the tunnel’s downward slope ends where it opens onto the center shaft. A wooden walkway extends from this opening and then runs westward to another tunnel in the rock. In front of you, a taut rope stretches southward across the shaft and is connected to another wooden platform. A large bucket like the one you saw earlier dangles from it 15 feet away on the other side of the shaft.
A shadow approaches the platform on the other side of the shaft and calls out to you: „A, the envoys from the village have arrived. Please accept my apology for the hasty actions of my subordinates. I am Trax, leader of this small band of refugees.“
Nyxnods to Gilgin to continue doing what he's doing.
Then says across the hole, "Hi, I am Nyx. And they may have learned their lesson - they almost got killed for these hasty actions. No wonder the miners fled if people get attacked at first sight. Please explain your view of the situation, Trax."
„We used to live in a cave on the slopes of Kelvins Cairn, but a group of Yetis attacked us and we had to flee. With Aurils curse on the region, we had to find a new shelter quickly, wich is why i lead them here. Unfortunately the miners got scared and run away before i could explain our predicament. I understand that people and kobolds are on edge during this hard times. But all i am seeking is safety for my people.“ Trex explains.

He is very persuasive and his arguments reflect exactly what you experienced over the last few month. People being on edge, looking after their own, mistrusting strangers. The outside world is dangerous and he cares and tries to protect his people.
Nyx says, "That's unfortunate with the miners, but safety for your people is important. Completely understandable. I suggest you come back to the town with us and I am sure we can work out some kind of an agreement to share this space. The thing is - the miners were here first and the town needs the continued operation of the mine."

"You cannot take from the humans and expect them to be ok with it."

Everything looks safe. When you pull on the rope with your full weight, it does support it without any problem.
