Vor dresses, feeds the mules a mix of the grain and scrub while chewing on his own dried morning ration. Looking around he says, "Did our employer not return in the night? Can we back track to where he was last seen or where he should have been?"
Alaric paces around the camp searching for Herne as he needs to ask him a couple of questions regarding ownership of the mine. "Hey Sandow!' Alaric calls out, "I need word with your friend. Where is he?"
"We can attempt to track Herne, but it is possible that all is well. He left no indication as to how long it would take him and we know the general direction. We can wait, wasting time, or we can continue in the direction we know to go. I vote for the later."

"You did say he was from the area - I guess he can take care of himself then. We should move while we have this muted light (if any)."
Vor begins to hitch the mules and ties Stavka to the rear of the wagon.

"We had best see what happened to Herne," Vrajitor says. "I don't like that he hasn't returned, if every body agrees I think I have a good chance of finding some sign of his passing."
He will start a sweep to the west and south looking for signs of Herne's passing.

"I agree, my name may have travelled this far north but not me personally. I think its prudent we find him since he likely knows a great deal about our current location."
Vrajitor is not going to blunder about like a drunken oxen, he will be focus on his surroundings, checking his six as it were; sort of like the step, slide, slipe-step walking in the deep deserts of Arrakis. Signs of Herne, signs of danger, whether they be tracks, sounds, sights, smells or tastes. (Darkvision 60')
"I do not like splitting the group in this uncertain terrain. There is also the matter of this wagon, which will not pass overly well the paths that Herne is likely to have taken. If it is possible for us to split, but keep within hailing distance with the wagon following the easier trail and the trackers within shouting or a horn's-call distance?"

"I am wary about the wagon as well. Perhaps our faster companions could try to track herne and find the safest path for our belongings as well."
"I will stay with the wagon, along with the followers. I shall play my horn", Belthran says, giving a short demonstration, "every half-hour, so that you shall know where we are. If I sound three short blasts, return with all haste."
When it looks like the party will split, Sandow agrees to help with the tracking as long as at least four bodies (including NPC) are staying with the wagon.
Vrajior and Sandow begin their range of the area that herne was scouting after a few hours and close to giving up Vrajitor spots Hernes rifle lying on the ground. the area shows some type of confrontation took place, besides Hernes boot prints are other larger deeper prints Sandow looks to Vrajitor "Wolves, Dire wolves by their size."' sandow says.
Vrajitor shakes his head slightly as he scans around him "Not Dire wolves, Winter Wolves" he says quietly "at least two".
Heavily laden tracks show that Herne was drug to the east.
Sandow knocks arrow to bow, ready for what lies ahead. "The tracks trail to the East, we should hurry. Vrajitor, what do you know of the habits of Winter Wolves? Are they craft enough to set a guard on their trail?"
[OOC questions] since we were tracking, were we tracking on foot? I'm guessing so. Also, if we are on foot, I would have left my pack back on the wagon to reduce weight and gain speed.
"I am not sure if he could have survived an attack a couple of Winter Wolves, they have an ice breath, their fast and smart creatures, very dangerous. But we must try to rescue Herne, if at all possible." Vrajitor sounds very grim. "let me see if I can figure out how many of the things attacked him."
He will follow any drag marks, looking to the sides to see if he can determine how many other wolves pace the one (he assumes it takes only one to drag a human) dragging Herne.
Sandow suddenly stiffens and looks terrified. "Are....these beasts smart enough to create a distraction? Our horses would be a more substantial meal would they not? We need to aid Herne, but someone should warn the rest of our party as well."
The hours pass and when the morning hour arrives everyone awakens to find that all is well , yet Herne still has not returned.

"How about we keep moving along the trail with the wagon, which will be slower, and meet at midday?"
“At mid-day, such as it is a day,” Vrajitor agrees. “I’ll not be too far out. Anyone’s welcome to come, too.”

Vrajitor will collect Herne’s rifle. Is there blood sign? If so, how much/little? Does it suggest Herne could be alive?

Standing up in the back of the wagon for a moment, Vor scans the horizon for our companions. "Can anyone see anything of our friends?"
