Sandu filed away the information he had uncovered or deduced. He began to have an inkling of what had transpired here but he needed more confirmation before he started throwing around accusations. He raised to his feet.
'Let's go check the orphanage.'Sandu dusted off his knees. 'Hear what this Yeska has to say about this.'
He made his way up the stairs and out of the crypt. He gave a nod to father Lucian and made his way to the orphanage across the church. He kept the torch lit. The light was not necessary but the warmth was comforting after the cold dark of the crypt.
Dormark breaks Baern out of his single focus with his words, to some extent at least. He turns and smiles at the metal man. "Thank you my friend." Turning back he says "and thank you, Mr. Blinsky. Sorry for my rudeness. I just need to find my mother."
> Dormark stands behind Baern and says, "You'll will have my help finding her as well, Baern."
"Another quest?", thinks Galqarin to himself. Before yesterday, he had never had any quest, more than just survival at least. Now they seemed to be coming thick and fast!

Galqarin resolves to help his short new friend in any way he can. Perhaps if Baern can find his mother, it might be possible for him to find his patron.
The Blinsky's Toys Group - Baern, Dormark & Galqarin
Baern - "Your moyther?"Blinsky says questioningly."It is nyot rude tyo haeve these feelings - your mother was a good woman." he says in his thick accent. For a moment he thinks long and hard,"I cannot keep this beautyful toy when its rightyful owner stands in oyf me." He delicately disassembles the toy and re-wraps it. "For all that your mother stood for..."he says as he hands the item to Baern.
The cobbled streets, still wet from rainfall, lead up to a once grand building which had invariably seen better days; tiles hang from the roof-top, the path is broken and missing stones in parts, and there are a number of long-broken windows. There is something about this place that seems dark and foreboding - soulless. Two children stand about idly near the front door, heads hanging, whispering. One of them - a young lad, dirty with sandy hair - looks up at the party as they approach.
Ioben - you know this to be Yeska. Though he no longer wears the altar boy robes, rather dirty, tatty faded blue overalls.
Fear grips the young lads face as he watches the party approach. Moments later he takes off, running westward down the street, paying little attention to the slick cobble stones. The other lad looks on towards the party, clearly confused as the scene unfolds.
Valerie is also confused by that. "Why does he run from us?"
Sandu watched the young boy sprint away. 'We're strangers. He's probably been taught to be wary of people like us.'
He looked over his shoulder to the building they had left. 'Or he saw us leaving the church, put two and two together and knows something's up.'
Sandu took a moment to look from the boy remaining to the boy running away. 'Could you take this one?' He pointed his thumb at the kid still standing by the door. 'I'll go after our runner.'
Sandu took off after the runaway. He did not run himself, the stones were a bit too slick for him to just dash full force so he just walked, but kept a steady pace. As the pursuit went on, Sandu slowly began to murmur a soft incantation, like a song he remembered only half the words to. 'Asculta-ti, copilul noptii. Ce muzică ei fac.'
OOC: Sandu goes after the runaway kid and casts Flock of Familiars (which takes a minute to cast). I'd like a bat, a rat and a raven if possible. Otherwise just 3 ravens if that is easier.
Baern, Dormark & Galqarin - Though there are no others in the workshop Blinsky drops his voice a little, responding to Baern's question he whispers, "Meeny ill tydings are thyere in Vallaki. Dark Poweers afoot. The major, he is on edge... paranyoid. Blinsky fyears for those that cross hyim." He beckons to the Ireena dolls, "I haeve my way of kyeepin' the right pyeople on syde. I pray you dyo the sayme."
Sandu - You cast your spell and three raven-familiars materialise in front of you - black winged, with eerie white eyes. It does not take long for the birds to catch up with Yeska. Your familiars relay pictures, snapshots, of the chase as it occurs followed by the young lad slipping and falling on the wet cobble stones, twisting his ankle painfully. The next second you hear a Yeska cry out, as he flips onto his back and attempts to back away from the ravens, "Ahhh! What are you? Please... leave me be!" The terrified boy shields his face as though half expecting the ravens to attempt to pluck out his eyes. Another series of images flash through your mind from your familiars, this time it is not what is happening but rather a question - you understand instantly, the familiars are asking whether they should attack.
Valerie -You watch as Sandu seemingly summons a number of ravens into existence, which take off after the sandy haired boy. Still taken aback the other lad backs his way into the Orphanage door and attempts to reach for the handle. "You stand back ya hear? I don't know what Yeska's done, but I ain't got nuffin' to do with it!"the boy's voice if wrought with fear.

It was disorientating at first to receive images from a bird's eye point of view while his own feet were on the ground, let alone to see himself - I need a haircut - but Sandu got shaken out of the new sensation when he heard the boy cry out. The cries were followed by another strange sensation: the ravens, familiars as he understood it, talking to him about attacking the boy.
What? No! Leave him be. Commanding the creatures came easy to Sandu, something he pondered for a moment. There was also the question of how he managed to summon three familiars. He was quite certain that wizards, or at least the ones he knew, could only manage one. These were concerns for later however as the boy demanded his attention first. Sandu gave the ravens a mental command to perch on the surrounding rooftops and keep an eye out. He walked over to the boy with his hand held up before him to show that he meant no harm.
'Three things you need to know, kid.' Sandu knelt beside the boy and hooked an arm under his shoulders. 'One: I'm taking you to father Lucian to get that ankle looked at. Here, lean on me.' He pulled the boy to his feet. The boy's right ankle had taken the full impact of his fall and it pained him to put any weight on it. In the midst of pulling him up, Sandu suddenly saw his own reflection on the boy's face. Had he not been in a similar situation not so long ago? It strangely endeared the boy to him.
'Two: I promised father Lucian that I only wanted to talk. Only that.' Sandu looked down at the boy's face. Sandy hair, splotches of dirt and fear framed a young visage. Yeah, Sandu mentally chastised himself, this is too familiar. 'You're not in trouble, I promise.'
He reached behind his back for his quarterstaff and handed it to the boy to support himself. 'That being said, there's three: if you're going to run, be sure you can't be caught. 'Cause running makes you look guilty.' He gave the boy a smile he hoped would pass for a big brotherly feel. 'Take it from me: I've been in your shoes.'
Sandu took one step forward to get the boy going towards the church. 'My name is Sandu. I take it you're Yeska? Father Lucian speaks fondly of you.'
Sandu - At your command the ravens fly off on to the nearby rooftops; a fleeting image pops into your head of a silver-feathered raven, it's eyes briefly meeting with your familiar's before it flies off.
Still lying splayed on the ground in front of Sandu, Yeska looks up and winces slightly as he accepts the staff. "They are your birds." The words came as a statement more than a question. "Thought they were after me, I did." Though the boy seems afraid you get a sense of a deeper resolve as he attempts to stand on his clearly injured ankle.
((Yeska))
"My name is Yeska, sir." He starts when standing, he fidgets a little and struggles to make eye contact. "Please sir... If ya don't mind me askin'... Please don't do to me as was done to Mili." Tears start to fall down his face,"I didn't mean to do nothin' sir. Neither did Mili - he told me..."The boy ends his sentence prematurely, remembering a promise once made. "I'll go with ya, to see Father Lucian."He says, defeated.
Yeska hobbles forward next to Sandu, after a way he speaks up,"You promise? You promise I'm not in trouble. You're not going to do any foul magics on me sir? I saw with the birds - jus' now - magicked them out of nothin'."there is a note of amazement in his voice. "I jus' has one question..." You watch as Yeska plucks up all his courage, though his words come out as a sob, "Why hurt Mili?"
Valerie kneels to get to the same height as the boy. She talks to him with a warm smile on her face. "Don't be afraid. We aren't going to hurt you. We just want to ask some questions." She looks at the direction the boy ran off. "Do you know anything? Why does he run away?"
“Thank you Blinksy, for your time, and hospitality. We’ll let you get back to work. And if you see the man I mention. If you could somehow inform us we would be greatful… Blinsky would you happen to have a piece of paper,” Dormark asks.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sandu took a moment to look from the boy remaining to the boy running away. 'Could you take this one?' He pointed his thumb at the kid still standing by the door. 'I'll go after our runner.'
Ioben followed as quickly after Sandu as he chased the kid. It would be easier to track him down if the two of them worked together. Besides, this kid had raised red flags for Ioben earlier, he couldn't just sit around and wonder. As they ran a flock of ravens burst out in front of them. At first startled, Ioben missed a step or two before he realised this was something of Sandu's creation. Why ravens? Ioben thought to himself. Surely we shouldn't tempt the dark one? They were his minions weren't they?
Then Yeska cried out in fear.
Ioben caught up to Sandu as he reached the boy, stooping down to help him up.
Sandu took one step forward to get the boy going towards the church. 'My name is Sandu. I take it you're Yeska? Father Lucian speaks fondly of you.'
As the boy realised what was happening, Ioben saw a mixture of relief and fear in him. It seemed as if Yeska didn't know how he should react, or else feared what was about to come.
"Magic is not foul boy," Ioben said, trying to put on a strong, assertive voice. He didn't want to scare the lad, but he wanted Yeska to know that they were in control - Persuassion: 20 (If intimidation is the better option subtract 2 from the total) "It is the user that makes it fair or foul. In the time I have known Sandu he has shown himself to be a reliable man. Not one such as you should fear."
Ioben walks on the other side of the boy, ready to help if the pain is too much; ready to give chase if needed."We will do what we can to help you, but if you let us know what happened to Milli, we may be able to do a better job at it."
Valerie - "I done told you, I don't know what he's done."The young boy says by way of explanation. You can tell that he feels more at ease since he first saw the group. "I know him and Milivoj had hangin' out a lot lately. And... well..."he pauses, as though weighing up what to tell you,"Milivoj has been awful sick recently. Nobody knows what's causin' it. Yeska reckoned he knew - said he had been cursed cause of something he done."The boy is in full swing with the story now,"Way I sees it. Milivoj just got sick on accounts of him stayin' out digging - tha's his job - all the time in the rain... He caught a cold, tha's all."
Dormark -Blinsky nods,"Thank you. Ey go an' find you some payper - byear with me."The toymaker goes wondering off to his desk and proceeds to grab a sheet of paper and hand it over to you.
Ioben - Yeska pouts up at you, but seems to respond well to the firmer touch. "I promised sir, said I wouldn't say anythin'." You watch as his lip trembles and he is once more on the verge of tears,"But then things have changed an'... an'..." He struggles to continue, "An' if I can trus' ye. An' you didn't cause his sickness... well." He gulps and begins relaying a story of what occurred from his point of view,"I often saw Father Lucian, now-an'-then, at the end of a day, go down these stairs behind the altar. I don't think he knows I know."Yeska scratches his head absent-mindedly,"But I seen it - an' the keyhole an' all."
"Well, I was all curious-like about what was down there... mus' be treasure, right? Ta be all secretive like that."He looks up into your eyes, looking for reassurance,"Please sir, I dun' want to get into trouble." He drops his head, crestfallen, "Well I been learning my words, y'see. My readin' an' writin'. An' I found a book in Father Lucian's office that spoke of the great, holy warrior - Saint Andral. An' you know the church is named afta him... so I find out that he died in Vallaki an' I think to meself... Where would they bury someone tha' important? I reckon it's somewhere all secretive like - they dun' want anyone to steal nuffin' an' the like. He musta been awful rich I reckon."
"Anyways, I was chattin' with one of the older boys - Mili, tha' is to say Milivoj. An' he reckons the same thin'! Says Saint Andral was buried somewhere in church graveyard - reckon he had been lookin'. He's the church's grave digger, right? Say's he's been lookin' for Saint Andral's burial site. Well..." Yeska gulps back tears,"Well, I says - 'I know where'! An' I tells him about the secret stairs. Mili said I dun good an' that if I plays my cards right... well tha' I could be rich... might be able to live somewhere better... somewhere with him. Somewhere they treat you good." Tears silently drop from the young boy's face.
"But I didn't know they was cursed. Whatever he took. He...he... he's sick sir. No one knows why, but I does. Either someone magicked him sick, or somethin' he took did. He looks so awfully pale now... I've been havin' these nightmares..." Yeska shudders and the fear returns to his face,"Awful vivid. Mili visits me in them, but it aint Mili... all his skin is white and rotten. He says it's gonna happen to me next. But... but I don't want that to happen to me. I don't sir..."He briefly forgets himself and buries his head into your sleeve and sobs uncontrollably. "We've all been havin' them - nightmares. An'... it's all my fault!"
Dormark takes the sheet and begins sketching. After he is done he hands the sketch back to Blinsky. It is a simplified version of what appears to be Dormark’s schematics. “It isn’t much, but something to thank you. It isn’t as complicated as me, but should serve well as a child’s toy,” he says as he begins to head towards the front door.
Dormark - "Ahhh beautyful! Thankee-you very much!" Blinsky's face is the picture of glee when he gladly accepts the schematics."I shyall geeve you a percentage of thee profyts!"he says as he sees you out of his shop.
Bearn nods affirmatively at Blinksy's warning, and then smiles widely as Dormark does what he can to give the man something back. "Thank you Mr. Blinsky! We'll come back and visit you once we've found my mother. Maybe you two can work together again!"
As the trio departs, Baern turns to the others. "Ah, where is Krezk again? Do you think the others will come?"
