Kilmus:"That information isn't entirely correct. I was routinely kicked by our master, a mean old frost giant named Garagai. It was Garagai who kidnapped two townsfolk and is holding them prisoner in his lodge more than half a day’s walk west of town. We are looking for help. We will assist you in freeing the prisoners, but we want to get back at him for his abuse. We can lead you to the lodge."
Rak:Kanan grunts, "No.."He doesn't seem happy with that question, insulted a bit, even.
Fintan:"Indeed! Exactly why we are here, now, talking with you all."Koran says pleasantly.
Mica:You notice no foul play, only how these wolves are unnaturally large.
Phineas:It's difficult to see anything in the snowy wasteland, but no, as far as you can tell, it's not an ambush.
"And you are sure you arn't just leading us into a trap?" Rak would ask as he raises an eyebrow. "I have healing capabilities you know. I could repair any damage done to you by your master... but only after I know we can trust you... and after we are given a reward for helping that is." The githyanki would add with a grin. "Freeing the prisoners is nice and all but I am sure the frost giant has other treasures that would be of no use to you all."
Seeing that it does not appear to be an ambush, Phineas whispers to Kilmus. "It might be to our benefit to have some allies out here. That being if, they not be lying to us. I say we let them guide us toward this giant...being as we've, um, proven ourselves so great against giants and such."

Mica still suspiciously eyes the two wolves, whispering to Kilmus and Phineas. "Fresh meat! Come brother, let us dispatch them, now!" he repeats in the wolf's words, as if asking why one would be looking for help, yet hunting at the same time. But then again, if they were hunting, why didn't they attack them outright? Why weren't they letting the townsmembers out of town? It didn't add up. But still, it's their best lead to the missing villagers, and that could mean an easier time finding Sophek. "Let them guide us," he responds, in Phineas's words.
Rak: "Oh, how impressive."Kanan growls to Koran. "He can heal!"Kanan turns back to you. "Your reward will be the sense of satisfaction that you have saved two lives this day. Is that not enough, or are you motivated by more. irrelevant material things? We simply want revenge. We care not what you do after."You sense no duplicity, nor able to sway their proposal. They need help, and you have the power to do so. Kanan turns to Koran, "Can we at least eat that one?"
Kilmus: "The townspeople are scared and confused."Koran admits. "An exaggeration, no doubt, generated by ignorance and fear."
Phineas approaches the wolves slowly, hands shown so that they understand he is no threat. He mutters to Kanan, "I've traveled with that one long enough to know that he likely tastes like grisle and piss. It would not sate your hunger and likely would leave you belly aching." He smiles, saying louder. "Very well. I be willing to help you bite the hand that has harmed ya. Lead on, noble beasts. However, be remembering, we be here to save those that've been taken. They, too, shall not be yours for snacking."

Rak would shrug and follow behind Phineas. He didn't trust the wolves or the situation... and he wasn't sure the gratitude of a few mishapen townfolk was worth fighting a giant for either...
Mica approaches the wolves at a distance, keeping himself shielded from the cold in purple flames, still wary at the comments they have made and questioning the validity of their premise. Saving the lives of two villagers wasn’t worth the risk of death to Mica, and he wasn’t sure how competently the villagers could recall word of the caravan they are after, but Mica isn’t about to say no to two giant wolves.
She tugged her cloak lower over her head, letting her hands sway by her sides as she trailed behind them, watching as the snow collected on the backs of her comrades. “Rak, we do not need to gain from everything. You can be payed in later kindness by not asking for much.” Fintan said ruefully, though a forlorn aura seemed to settle about her shoulders much like the dark heaviness that seemed to trail her. she was still a bit agitated, now more by the wound then anything. “Mica is not the only one with spells. If need be I can cast a cloak of fog. It’s best not to rush into this too much. Perhaps they know of the man we seek.”
"Well.. we have already killed a few giants.. although I assume the giants we killed are a lot smaller than a frost giant." Rak would reply to Kilmus. "I would hope that our two wolf friends help to keep the frost giant distracted while we attack. Maybe we should try to damage the creature as much as posible from a distance at first before getting our blades bloodied."
The wilderness around Dougan’s Hole is a frozen tundra. Snow falls frequently, adding to the snowpack and erasing tracks. Kanan and Koran lead you, and they protect you from the winds of a current blizzard, using their bodies to shield you all until it passes. Thankfully, the wolves’ presence also prevents you all from getting lost or separated. You all came across a pack of smaller wolves, prowling the white in search of food. One of them looked especially gaunt from starvation. Kanan and Koran growled and bared their teeth, which deterred the pack from approaching closer.
THE LODGE
Jutting up out of the vast tundra is a towering edifice built entirely of ice. The domed structure is easily three times the height and width of any building found in Ten-Towns. The two winter wolves sniff the air and Koran inform you: "Garagai isn’t home. We offer to stand guard outside while you enter the lodge and free the prisoners. You must act quickly."
Phineas pauses, eyeing the wolves and trying to ascertain if what they say is true (Insight: 4). He then (if it all checks out) nods to the others, readies his bow and arrow and begins quietly making his way toward the structure. "Let me scout ahead a bit, but don't dally too far behind," he says as he moves forward. "I've no desire to become a pint-sized pancake today."

As the party traverses the landscape, dissonant whispers begin building up in Mica's head. The blizzard and infectious cold sinks deep into his bones, and the harsh wind exacerbates the headache that builds up. When the wolves appear, the voices rise, and Mica needs to momentarily stop to gather his bearings. Suddenly, the arm he constantly keeps carried jitters of its own accord, and the cloth carried over it slides off, exposing the reason to Mica's namesake - the arm is entirely devoid of feathers besides for a few splotchy, ill-looking passages near the upper arm, and the skin looks withered and mottled, making the arm look pretty much like a sheet of marbled stone. A jolt of arcane energy flies out at the ill-looking wolf, this time a sickly grey color rather than Mica's traditional violet color, and slams into the wolf. (Let me know if you want me to make any attack rolls, but with a range of 120 feet, I'm not sure how far the wolf will get.) The arm goes limp, and Mica hurriedly rewraps it, exposing part of his chest and shoulder, where patches of feathers seem to be spreading down his arm, but as he does so, you see Mica breathing easier, and he looks to be pretty much sapping the life essence of the wolf. (Dark One's Blessing has been activated.) Mica shakes his head and continues onwards.
All is quiet. It's cold. Very cold. You can feel the freezing burning cold even emanate from the walls. The Lodge has three entrances. Pick one. The wolves nudge you towards L4.
Phineas raises an eyebrow at the talking wolves, but quickly turns his focus to see if more may be waiting to ambush the group.
